The New Normal

Deimos gave me a pat on my shoulder, just before he walked around me and left the room. He didn't forget to close the door after him, making a soft thud as he did.

/"How are you doing, babe?/" I simply asked Phoebe, slowly making my way towards her. Just as I was near her, I joined her on the bed to lay down beside her, /"I'm sorry you had to go through it alone./"

I immediately hugged her, my head on top of her thighs. Her hands immediately rested on my head, her fingers softly brushing my hair. It was a comforting position to be in, as if drinking hot chocolate on a winter's day.

We continued in the same position for seconds that stretched to minutes, and not once did Phoebe's fingers ever faltered. She just continued making circular motions on my head in the same speed, not saying anything.
