The Aenist Exams

Kicking off their journey, they left the Suzana empire. It was nigh impossible in the state they were in to bring the prophecy to light so they had to get stronger, they could only hope that they'd gain enough power to end this war before a lot of casualties befalls all four kingdoms.

"How do you propose we try to end this war?" Neo grabbing a hold of Vanessa's waist as the horse dashed at full speed questioned her.

"Don't ask me, it's your destiny after all oh child of prophecy." She mocked Neo who rolled his eyes ignoring her mockery.

"But I suppose we get stronger for a start." Vanessa laid a good suggestion, Neo had absolutely no idea how to make use of the abilities the system had transmigrated him with. He figured if he could grasp the concept of Aen, he might just stand a chance.

"And how do we do that?" Neo questioned her suggestion.

"You'll find out soon enough." She replied him simply as they left the Suzana empire, they followed another route as the original led to the battlefield where the four kingdoms fought each other off trying to conquer their kingdoms.

[Hours later]

Hours had passed and they arrived at the border of the Silvercrest Kingdom, they stopped at a neighbouring village as soon as they arrived.

"Is this our destination?" Neo asked out of curiosity as Vanessa jumped down from the horse.

"Not entirely, we can't enter the Silvercrest kingdom looking like this." She made a solid point, before this war began five years ago she was renowned as the crowned princess of the Suzana empire.

As for Neo, during the war both him and his family had their legacy cemented as the elite force of the Suzana empire. Even though Neo was too young to fight for the kingdom, he was known as a member of the Tempest family.

Entering into the Silvercrest Kingdom in their current appearance would mean their immediate death, so in order to overcome this obstacle.

"Makeover!" Vanessa exclaimed with excitement grabbing a scissors from one of the bags attached to the side of the horse.

"Oh no, oh no no no no no!" Neo exclaimed jumping down from the horse as Vanessa approached him slowly.

"Come on quit being a baby and get over here." She made cutting noises with the scissors as she made her way to Neo slowly with a smile on her face.

"Hell nah! Your not even a professional hairstylist damn it! your not gonna mess with my hair" Neo loved his hair more than anything, so he wasn't going to let a crazy woman like Vanessa to give him a haircut.

"Oh well, I didn't want it to come down to this." As she spoke she focused her gaze at the ground trying to catch Neo off guard.

"But you leave me no choice!" She shouted before focusing her vision back at Neo swiftly and leaping towards him.

"Holy shi-" Neo might have lost access to the original host memories temporarily, but his body that had been trained since birth was able to react swiftly to her assault. He evaded her swiftly performing a cartwheel, before his feet could touch the floor his hands propelled him in the air and he backflipped twice before landing on his feet.

"What the?" He was still trying to get used to the feeling of doing things he couldn't do back on earth, to have such strength, precision and agility. It was exhilarating, however being caught up in the excitement Vanessa tackled him to the ground and sat on top of him.

"Hold still!" She yelled trying to use the scissors to give him a haircut.

"Stop not my hair, anything but my!" It was too late, Vanessa used her knees to hold his arms down and went to work swiftly.

SNIP! SNIP! SNIP!

"Damn it!" Neo yelled at the top of his voice as she laid waste to the hair at the sides of his head.

As soon as she was done cutting his hair she freed his arms and stood up, she spun the scissors in her right index finger before grabbing it with her hands entirely and blowing a bit of wind with her mouth at the blade. "All done."

"Y-you monster!" Neo exclaimed getting to his feet by doing a kip up, he held the side of his head and felt his skin, his blood boiled realizing how much she messed him up.

"Oh relax." Vanessa spoke drawing a small mirror out of a bag placed at the horses side and placed it in front of Neo's face.

"Oh...damn." Neo stroked his chin seeing how goodlooking he was, she left the middle of his hair untouched and it flowed down to even cover his eyes which made his assassin physique much better.

"Since when." He asked simply, warrior turned hairstylist wasn't something one hears everyday.

"You don't know anything about me, now come on. Don't worry about my appearance I've got it covered." Vanessa untied her hair which she binded before with a band, long hair in battle often tends to put the individual in question at a disadvantage.

She looked even more alluring than before with her long hair reaching her waist in length, her dazzling beauty backed up by her blue eyes and pink lips. She was perfect.

Neo tried his best not to get tangled up in her charms and illuminating beauty, they walked into town and it was buzzing with excitement and movements. The town folks seemed excited and they were all in a hurry.

"Where are we?" Neo asked, the town was joyful even with the knowledge that there were in the middle of a war.

"We are in Solstice Haven, the first stop in our journey." Vanessa answered his question as her eyes scrolled through every nook and cranny of their environment. "It's been a while since I last came here."

"Our?"Neo spoke in his thoughts, he was surprised at how Vanessa quickly assumed they were a team. Not that he was complaining.

"Aren't this people worried in the slightest about the war?" Neo asked yet again out of curiosity.

"They are, however this time of the year the Havens academy holds a special exam for the all people across the Silvercrest Kingdom, an opportunity for each and every youth to evolve, stand up and fight for what they cherish and also a chance to join the kingdoms forces, for us it's to get stronger." Vanessa answered his question.

"Exams? In the middle of a war? What kind of exam is so important that the people can push the thought of survival aside for a while?" He kept attacking her with questions.

"The Aenist Exams." Her answer left him dumbfounded for a few moments.

"The Aenist what?" Out of confusion, Neo came to a halt in an attempt to clear his mind.

"You should know this, but given your ability to forget easily I'll remind you. The Aenist Exams is an examination that allows Aen users across the kingdom to level up in rank. We all make use of Aen, those fortunate enough to awaken the ability that is but us, we are just Entry Aenists, and that's why we weren't allowed to fight in the war." Vanessa's answer's were not clear to Neo as she rushed the explanations.

"Come on, we gotta sign up for the Aenist Exams before registration closes!" Vanessa exclaimed grabbing the hand of Neo and running towards town square where the registration center was situated in.
