"I hate to admit it, but I'm with Shizuo on this one."
Weiss declared, then smacked her lips.
"That was odd to say. Yet, he's correct. Your recklessness could be lethal, not just for you but for all of us. And I refuse to meet my end in this dreadful forest."
"What's wrong? Can't handle a bit of the outdoors, Schnee?"
Black jeered, fully aware that she reeked of Shizuo from the night before. Weiss shot the cat Faunus a scathing look. The surge of negativity caught the attention of the Nevermore overhead, prompting the raven Grimm to screech loudly and beat its wings. Sending a barrage of massive feathers, sharp quills first, hurtling toward them.
With a click of her tongue, the heiress conjured a Glyph, erecting an ice barrier that halted the feathered onslaught before anyone could even think to take cover.
"Could we possibly dial back the negativity?"
Yang proposed, then turned to her sister with a serious expression.
"And Ruby, have you forgotten all of Dad and Uncle Qrow's talks about not showing off?"
Ruby hung her head, avoiding eye contact, and murmured,
"I'm not trying to show off. I just want you to see that I'm capable..."
Her words were directed at Yang, but her gaze lingered on Weiss, eliciting a sigh from the heiress.
"You dolt. If Ozpin admitted you to Beacon, he must see your potential."
Weiss conceded.
"But as partners, we must collaborate. If you agree to stop being so... difficult, I'll endeavor to be... nicer."
Ruby stared at her partner, then beamed.
"It's a deal!"
"Fantastic! It's heartening to see us becoming friends."
Yang exclaimed, draping her arms around the two girls, eliciting a squeak of protest from her younger sister.
"Let's depart from here, shall we? It seems that large bird above is eager for another round with us."
As predicted, the Nevermore circled overhead with a piercing squawk, eyeing the group, while the Death Stalker began its approach.
"There's no reason to linger."
Pyrrha interjected.
"Our goal is clear."
She indicated the chess pieces behind them.
"She's correct."
Ruby affirmed with a nod.
"Our task is to secure an artifact and return to the Cliffs. Engaging these creatures serves no purpose."
They turned back towards the others in time to see the scorpion Grimm smash through the wall of ice Weiss had conjured up moments before.
"Smart choice, but I'll deal with the Deathstalker!"
Shizuo said as he activated Gilgamesh covering himself in armor of gauntlets, greaves, back armor, and mask, making Ruby's eyes sparkle in excitement. Engaging the thrusters on the gauntlets and greaves he reached the Deathstalker and punched it with the gauntlet drill extending during the attack.
The scorpion Grimm tried to snap its pincers to block, but were torn apart by the gauntlet drill. Once losing its defense it tried to strike with its stinger, seeing the attack coming Shizuo kicked with his greaves saw allowing him to cut through the scorpion Grimm's tail. Then performed a 360 flip kicking down cutting through the Grimm's head in half.
"It's time we left!"
Shizuo announced, his mask retracting as he returned. Ruby launched herself at him like a missile, yet she couldn't budge Shizuo in the slightest.
"OhmygodcanIlookoveryourpersonalweapon?"
Ruby excitedly asked, her eyes scanning Gilgamesh's armor.
"Sorry about that. But can I examine the weapons in your armor?"
Ruby was aroused as she began touching him all over inspecting his Gilgamesh armor.
"It's so beautiful~"
"Take the hint, birdie!"
Nora yelled at the Nevermore, pulling out her grenade launcher and firing a few rounds. The shells struck the raven Grimm's head, exploding into large, pink blasts, making it squawk in retreat.
However, it retaliated by releasing a volley of spear-like feathers, most of which were hurtling towards their group. Shizuo, ever the gallant protector, swiftly gathered all the female initiates and shielded them from harm by creating a barrier.
The majority of the feathers slammed harmlessly into the ground and the ancient structure housing the relics. Ren managed to get away with minor scrapes, but Jaune lost his left arm while using his shield to protect himself from the barrage of spear-like feathers.
"Whew! Thanks for that fearless leader!"
Nora hugged him with hearts in her eyes giving him a grateful grin, which was answered by him checking her body out with a grin. The ginger was the definition of what a shortstack should be, tiny, huge melons, and a dangerously large booty. The energetic ginger kept pushing her massive breasts into his abs, causing him to want to add her to his harem.
The Nevermore ignored the warning and swooped in for another attack.
"Damn it, how are we supposed to handle that thing? Our weapons aren't effective at that range."
Elia swore, aware that no one possessed long-range weapons.
"You would think the bird would have tired by now."
Nora observed, clutching her massive hammer.
"Stubborn creature."
Shizuo grumbled, gazing at the Grimm. It returned the stare, emitting a piercing screech.
"Forget it! I'll take care of it."
He declared, stretching out his arm to form a kinetic energy sphere that began to crackle as he compressed more power into it. After infusing the sphere with energy, Shizuo let it hover in the air. He then pulled his arm back, powering up the thrusters on his gauntlets. With enough energy amassed, he caressed the sphere.
"Explosion Shot!"
Shizuo thrust the energy sphere towards the Nevermore. Upon contact with the Grimm, the sphere exploded in a vast blast, engulfing the Nevermore leaving only a small cloud of darkness.
Before he could celebrate his victory over the oversized Grimm bird, his Perception Stat alerted him to a horde of Grimm rushing towards his location. Shizuo cursed, realizing that the initiation was being broadcast worldwide, and now Salem was aware of his existence and had dispatched her forces to eliminate him before he could fully harness his powers.
"Guys, a horde of Grimm is approaching. If you want to survive, get behind me now!"
Shizuo barked out commands. Pyrrha quickly moved her injured partner to safety, and the others gathered behind him, anticipating another protective shield.
Instead, Shizuo activated his new skill, Infinity Force, which removed his limiters for fifteen seconds, allowing him to concentrate all his power into a single strike. His face was once again concealed by the Gilgamesh mask armor as he drew his arm back, readying his final attack. When fully charged, he thrust his fist forward, unleashing his attack.
"Big Bang Blow!"
BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOMMMM!!!
The onlookers' eyes widened in shock as they witnessed Shizuo's attack obliterate the entire Emerald Forest where the Grimm had originated, all within seconds.
As the attack dissipated as swiftly as it had appeared, a disturbing sight was revealed: more than half of the Emerald Forest was destroyed, leaving nothing but a crater. They stared in disbelief at the lone figure responsible for the devastation, with sparks emanating from his body.
Shizuo stood there, radiating power, but collapsed to the ground as his fifteen seconds of strength expired.
Elia, not distracted by the display of Shizuo's might, was the first to notice her boyfriend's fall. In a state of panic, she checked on him and realized he had simply fainted from overexerting his abilities.
"He's okay! He just passed out from using his Semblance too much."
She quickly reassured the others so they wouldn't be overly concerned about him.
"So, uh... what exactly was that? And could he always do that?"
Yang inquired, her voice still laced with shock, while she assisted in carrying Shizuo up the hill. Reaching a sufficient height, she surveyed the Emerald Forest, now marked by a crater the size of a city.
-Back at the cliff-
"Headmaster!"
Ms. Goodwitch exclaimed as she observed the Grimm horde through the cameras.
Ozpin realized that initiation was irrelevant the moment the Nevermore screeched, prompting the Grimm to storm the temple. The numbers were excessive, especially since the forest had been recently thinned out.
He was en route to the temple before the chaos ensued, but as his senses heightened, his eyes widened. He was nearly paralyzed as a surge of magic, more potent than any he had witnessed since the Age of the Gods, ravaged half of the Emerald Forest.
"By the Gods!"
Glynda murmured, her eyes wide with shock as the forest was obliterated along with the Grimm horde, leaving no trace behind.
Ozpin massaged his forehead, feeling a headache coming on. Shizuo's demonstration of power had been seen around the globe; it was both a remarkable opportunity and a dilemma. The Beacon Initiation was broadcast worldwide, a typically benign tradition. Fatalities during the Initiation were rare because the teachers monitored the streams and were stationed throughout the forest, prepared to intervene in dire situations.
