Evlin was trying really hard to make sense of the situation.
She was standing on top of some kind of circular drawing glowing blue inside a dark room surrounded by people wearing suits of armor that you would see in history books of the medieval times.
Her school uniform composed of a black blazer, a red tie, and a long skirt clashed drastically with the rest of the room.
In front of her was a young man who seemed to be about her age cheerfully jumping up and down screaming "It worked! It worked!". The young man was wearing a different set of clothes from the rest of the individuals in the room. A golden crown on top of his head that seemed like it could fall off at any moment from his constant jumping and a large red cape covering his body starting from the neck.
She took another glance at the room and realized she didn't seem familiar with the material on the wall. Evlin had traveled to many cities before but never saw a building that looked similar to where she was right now "What is... ?"
"Ah! My love! You finally came!!" said the jumping boy.
"...!? Love!!??" Evlin started to gasp when the young man addressed her in such a casual manner despite her being sure this was the first time they ever met "What are you talking about? Who are you? What's going on!!? Where am I???"
"Show respect!! You are in front of the prince!!"
"... The what now...?" After being scolded by one of the guards Evlin took another look at the kid that kept staring at her. The supposed prince approached Evlin and grabbed her hands.
"Silence you! Don't you know that this girl will be my future queen? Starting from now you better show her respect! My apologies my love."
"... Huh!!?? The hell are you talking about?? Who are you, people?? Did you drug me or something? How did I get here??"
"Oh, that! You see, it's a beautiful story about love, destiny, and the desire to achieve a man's true dream!"
"... Ok..." Evlin tried to calm down a bit and waited to hear their explanation.
"My birthday is coming and I wanted a wife, so I asked my mages and they brought you here!"
"... ... ... And...?"
"That's it!"
"The hell is wrong with you?? What was that about love, destiny, and dream?? Also, you're like, what? Fourteen years old?? Why would you want a bride??"
"But I'm a prince! All princes must choose their brides when they reach the age of fifteen!"
"OK but why me? We don't even know each other..."
"Well of course! That's why I asked them to summon you here now, one week before my birthday! It would be rude to just summon you and propose to you on the same day don't you think?"
"That's what you think would be rude?? And what do you mean by summon?"
"As I said, I asked my mage to bring you here. I didn't want just any bride, I wanted a bride from another world! The same world as the living weapon!"
The prince appointed his finger to a man wearing robes that were as white as his hair and carrying a staff that was standing behind him looking really tired. Evlin realized that he was the so-called mage and she thought to herself "So you were the goddamn idiot that brought me here... I'll remember you...".
"Listen... Er... Your highness..."
"Please... You can call me sweetie!"
"... Your Highness... I'm flattered that you chose me to be your bride and all..."
"Oh, I didn't choose you. I just said I wanted someone that was my age and that was cute and you were the first to show up!"
Evlin began to picture herself about to strangle that kid with each passing second they shared together "... Regardless... I have no desire to be queen... So if you could just send me back..."
"You don't want to be queen? But you will be bathed in riches and power and will have thousands of servants who would kill and die for you at your very command! "
"That sounds charming... I guess?"
"If you don't want to be a queen, what do you want to be?"
"I want to be a teacher!"
"... Really...?" The prince said in disbelief. Evlin was used to that kind of reaction. People always assumed that there was no way a girl so young would ever pick that to be her future career.
"Yes! I wanna be a teacher just like my mother! I want to help children the same way she helped me when I was younger!" Said Evlin with a lot of pride in her voice.
"I see... " The prince said while holding his chin.
"Yeah... "
"You're being shy!"
"Yea- Wait no!"
"Don't worry! After you become queen you can order as many teachers as you want to guide our children!"
"I don't want to do that, I want to become one myself! You, kidnapper mage! Send me back!"
The mage was startled when the conversation was directed at him "Huh... I can't..."
"What do you mean you can't? You brought me here, just send me back!"
"Unfortunately miss, there is no spell to send people to other worlds, we can only bring them here..."
"What kind of logic is that?? Here give me that!" Evlin walked towards the mage and grabbed the staff he was holding. The mage tried to resist but it seems like the spell to summon a person drained a lot out of him.
"Be careful! That's not a toy!"
Evlin started to shake the staff like a bottle of ketchup that was almost empty in an attempt to get that last drop stuck in the bottom "How does this thing work? Bring me back! Bring me back!!"
"My love, stop it! I'm sure after a passionate night together you will forget all about your previous world!" Said the prince while licking his lips.
"... ... ... BRING ME BACK!!! BRING ME BACK RIGHT NOW!!!!" Evlin started to shake the staff even more desperately but nothing happened. The prince started to come closer to her which only made her even more scared "Stay back! Stay back!!"
"Come my love! Before my birthday arrives, let's take the time to get to know each other!"
"I said STAY AWAY!!!"
The staff on Evlin's hand started to glow and an immense wave of energy was released knocking out every single person in the room against the walls. Only Evlin and the mage remained awake among the pile of unconscious bodies.
The mage stared at Evlin "How did you... What did you do...?"
"Did you see the way he was looking at me...? He was creeping me out!!"
"Forget that!! How did you do that! Are you some kind of sorcerer in your world?"
"... I... Think I'm gonna go now... Bye..."
"Ah! Wait! Hey! My staff!!"
Evlin left the room and started to run across the hallway. Her heart was beating at a crazy speed and she felt like she was about the pass out at any moment "This is crazy! This is crazy! This is crazy! This is crazy! This is crazy!"
She reached the end of the hallway and turned around a corner and found herself surrounded by more men in armor, probably the knights of the prince.
"Hey! Who are you?"
"Stay back!!" Evlin started to panic and aimed her staff at the knights. The same energy as before was released and pushed the armored men away from her. She noticed more knights running towards her from the end of the hallway and directed the staff towards her new target.
"My love, please! There is nothing to worry about!" The young prince was running alongside them. The energy Evlin released probably wasn't enough to knock him out completely, she thought. She wondered if there was a way to attack with more energy to take all these people down.
"Stay back!! Or I will use this!! I'm warning you!"
"Could it be you are worried about being unskilled at night? It's ok, there are many ways to help you become more experienced..."
"I SAID STAY BACK!!!" Evlin proceeded to repeat her staff attack from early but this time trying to focus to make it more powerful than before. She succeeded and a massive wave of energy was released two times bigger and faster than before. The prince only had a second to see the figure of the girl he wanted to marry releasing such a masterful display of magic before his eyes before flying all the way across the hallway.
"Beautiful!!" He whispered before being hit by the attack. All the rest of the guards were also completely dispersed by the wave of energy. Unfortunately, the wave was so strong that even Evlin was sent flying this time and ended up colliding against a window that was behind her. The window was shattered in pieces leaving Evlin to fall from what she realized was the outside of a castle.
Falling at such a tremendous speed, Evlin realized that she would definitely die if nothing was done. Words kept flying over her head screaming "I'm gonna die!! I'm gonna die!! I'm gonna die!! I'm gonna die!!!!". She finally managed to master the little courage she still had to aim her staff towards the ground and tried to release one last energy wave, but sadly nothing happened.
"Out of juice? Now!!??" Evlin was getting closer and closer to the ground. At that rate, she started to think about all the things she had yet to accomplish.
Becoming a teacher, making her mother proud, seeing the smile of her future student that would come to thank "teacher Evlin" for helping them when they were having trouble with one of the subjects, seeing the birth of her older sister's baby, being called aunt Evlin, going on a date with the boy she liked.
The whole life she had lost just because some stupid king couldn't bother to knock some common sense on his idiot son. With one desperate move, she started to scream out of her lungs.
"JUST THIS ONE MORE TIME! PLEASE WORK!!"
Then finally, a small wave of energy was released once again, not too strong but just strong enough to slow down her fall. She collided with the ground and became covered in bruises and scratches.
"I'm... Alive..."
Her whole body was covered in pain and she could barely move. She started to wonder if she could use the staff to make some kind of healing spell, similar to the ones she and her sister used to see in the video games they played when they were young. But all of her hopes and dreams suddenly crumbled.
"Oh no... "
The staff that she had been relying so much on up until now was completely in pieces, probably destroyed during the fall. Evlin was completely lost at what to do. She no longer had any kind of power, she had a crazy prince chasing after her, her body couldn't move, and she had no idea where she was or how she could return home.
"What do I do... ?"
Her eyes started to get filled with tears and begun to cry while screaming intensely.
"What am I supposed to do?? Mom!! Ashley!! I want to go home!! What do I do!!??"
She kept crying on the ground outside of the castle. She tried to stand up but the pain was paralyzing her whole body and the fear and sadness were covering her mind from thinking rationally.
"I want to go home!! Someone... Please help!!"
Evlin then heard the sound of someone walking towards her. She stopped covering her face with her hands that were trying to wipe the tears and took a look at the person that was standing looking at her.
"Oh, my gods! What happened to you?" said a lady wearing some old clothes and carrying a basket of bread while staring at her state with a horrified look on her face.
"Help... Please!" Evlin managed to whisper these words before completely passing out after the amount of stress and injuries she had received in the last couple of minutes.
Yes, I know what you're thinking... This is exactly where you expected the story would go to after that last chapter!
