Ezra walked for a while before reaching a huge tower that stretched into the sky. It was surrounded by armed guards and there was an inspection point for anyone who wanted to enter. This was to make sure no unqualified people entered the tower, as it was too dangerous for weak hunters and ordinary people.
Ezra approached this inspection point and presented his fresh C rank hunter's license and was allowed through after the legitimacy was confirmed.
The Tower had a huge portal on the front which teleported anyone who entered to the first floor of the tower, and Ezra unhesitatingly entered. Once he had passed through, he found himself in a forest.
- Welcome To Floor One Of The Great Tower -
- Defeat A Minimum Of Ten Goblins To Unlock Floor Two -
Ezra assumed the first trial would be something simple like the quest he had received, but he was unsure for certain as anyone who entered the Tower was unable to speak of the contents inside of it due to an unknown power.
He began to walk around the forest which was massively larger than what the tower seemed to be able to contain from the exterior. After a few minutes, Ezra came across a lone goblin and decided to follow it to see if it returned to a group of others as this would make it easier for him to find enemies. This was especially important as he did not want to leave the floor immediately, instead he wanted to consume as many goblins as possible until he could no longer gain any stats from them.
The goblin moved quickly through the trees, and Ezra stealthily followed behind in a way that would mean he went unnoticed. Eventually, the goblin entered a cave and once Ezra followed it inside, he was met with a large nest of goblins.
As he was alone and wanted the easiest time killing the goblins, he transformed into his Cipactli form. Ezra snuck up on a lone goblin that was asleep, and snapped its neck. Once he did this, he proceeded to consume the entire corpse of the goblin. It tasted nowhere near as bad as he had thought it would have, and it actually had a slightly sweet taste.
- +1 Strength -
- + 1 Vitality -
- + 1 Speed -
- + 1 Stamina -
Ezra thought to himself, 'Although the amount isn't massive and it doesn't target all of my stats, compared to levelling up this is much quicker.'
He continued stealthily moving around, picking off any sleeping or vulnerable targets. This meant his stats continued increasing even though his job was getting easier.
Once he felt his stats were high enough, Ezra started to openly attack groups of goblins without need to hide. This was incredibly easy for him, and he devoured all of them as he went.
After a while of eating the goblins, the amount of stats that he received for consuming them lowered until it hit zero and he realised that he had hit the limit that he could get from goblins. He did not see a reason to continue killing them, as the weak goblins could not help him level up his skills anymore either.
He thought about completing the quest of the first floor and some screens appeared in front of him.
- The First Floor Has Been Completed -
- Level Of Completion 10 X Required Amount -
- 15,000 Points Will Be Added -
- Level Of Completion 100 X Required Amount -
- 25,000 Points Will Be Added -
Before deciding what to do with his newly gained points, Ezra wanted to check his status as he hoped huis growth would be significant.
Name: Ezra
Age: 17
Species: Human / Cipactli
Level: ???0???
Stats:
Strength: 200
Vitality: 200
Speed: 200
Stamina: 200
Mana: 10
Skills:
Transformation (S) (Max Lvl)
Skill Synthesis (S) (Max Lvl)
Eagle Eye (F) (Lvl 3)
Disappearing Slash (B) (Lvl 3)
Fearful Disguise (C) (Lvl 3)
Ezra was incredibly happy with his stats as they had increased a lot. It seemed as though he gained 100% of the original stats that he got from eating the first goblin to begin with, and then after the 100 mark he got 10% of it until he killed 1000 and then he got nothing.
With his increase in stats, he now had similar stats to that of an average D rank hunter. Although this wasn't necessarily very powerful in the grand scheme of things, he had gotten to that level by simply killing some goblins that were classed as F rank monsters.
As he had checked his stats, Ezra began to think of what to buy with his points. He had forty thousand points which meant he had a relatively small selection of things he could buy.
He eventually decided that any items he could buy at this point would be useless to him, and that buying three low level skill boxes and one low level pet egg would be efficient as he could have some company, and if he was lucky he could also potentially get a pet that could be used as a mount. Mounts were highly desired pets as they could allow their master to ride on them to traverse dungeons and tower floors quicker than on foot. However, the chance of getting one was low, and the chances of getting a good pet from a low level egg was also low. Unlike the skill boxes that were fixed to their ranks, the pet eggs were percentage based for the rank of the beast inside. This meant that if someone was incredibly lucky, they could get a strong pet from a low level egg.
Before traversing to the next floor, Ezra wanted to open his purchases.
He started off with the three skill boxes and after placing them in front of himself, he opened them all at once.
- Fire Spark (F) Has Been Received -
- Powered Punch (E) Has Been Received -
- Dog's Nose (F) Has Been Received -
Fire Spark (F): Create a small spark of fire that is able to start fires, although it cannot do any damage. Longevity of flame's lifespan increases per level up.
Powered Punch (E): Perform a punch with increased power. Power increases per level up.
Dog's Nose (F): Sense of smell becomes better and more powerful. Smelling ability increases per level up.
Seeing the skills he had received, Ezra had some ideas of what to do. He used his synthesising skill to combine Fire Spark and Powered Punch and Eagle Eye and Dog's Nose.
- Fire Spark (F) And Powered Punch Have Been Synthesised -
- Flaming Fist (B) Has Been Created -
- Eagle Eye (F) And Dog's Nose (F) Have Been Synthesised -
- Enhanced Senses (C) Has Been Created -
Ezra checked the descriptions of his new skills to see how good they were.
Flaming Fist (B): Imbue fist with fire to perform a powerful flame infused attack. Size of flaming fist increases per level up.
Enhanced Senses (C): All senses improved. Level of improvement increases per level up.
Now that he had opened the skill boxes, he wanted to open the pet egg that he had purchased. He was not expecting anything particularly impressive from the egg, as the rates were very low. 50% of pets from a low rank egg had F rank potential, 30% had E rank potential, 10% had D rank potential, 5% had C rank potential, 4% had B rank potential, 0.9% had A rank potential, 0.1% had S rank potential.
He placed the brown coloured egg in front of him, the colour of the egg already made him feel like the pet would not be very powerful. Every egg had a separate colour or pattern depending on the contents and the boring brown egg did not inspire confidence.
He placed his hand on top of the egg and uttered the word, "Hatch."
Parts of the egg were falling off and a cat-sized brown lizard on all fours emerged and Ezra immediately checked its description.
Name: Hatchling Earth Dragon
Rank: D (A rank Potential)
A newly hatched Earth Dragon that in the future will become a powerful creature. At later stages this creature can be mounted. This creature's Strength, Vitality and Stamina will increase by growing while Mana and Speed will not grow at all.
Ezra was insanely happy with what he got; it was almost as good as it could possibly get apart from an S rank mountable pet. However, he was not under any impression that he would receive as good of a pet from most eggs he could buy in the future. Due to this, he realised it would be a good idea to wait until he could afford to buy some guaranteed good eggs before he got another pet.
As there was nothing else left on the floor for him to do, Ezra chose to go to the next floor.
