Chapter 5 - New Friends

And then suddenly, two members of the Sohma family, Momiji and Hatori, came to the school for Yuki's checkup, because of Yuki's bronchial tubes. Masayuki, Emiko, and Handa are very surprised, but Handa didn't say to his childhood friends about Momiji and Hatori either.

Upon seeing those two, Tohru was surprised to see them, with Momiji being surprised-excited to see her, and Tohru being shock that Momiji's father was the owner of the company where she worked as a janitor.

"Woah, who are those?" Masayuki asked as he shoved both of his hands in his pants pockets.

"I had no idea," added Emiko.

A bit later, Momiji introduced himself as a half-Japanese, half-German, making Masayuki and Emiko very surprised.

"Wow, he's like us..." Masayuki thought in his head.

Indeed, Momiji Sohma is biracial, just like Masayuki and Emiko Honda.

And then, when Momiji is about to hug Tohru, Kyo holds him off, warning him that they're still in public. But Momiji acts stubborn, thinking that Kyo might have Tohru for himself, and even betting him to hug Tohru everyday. This causes Kyo to blush a bit, and Momiji freed himself from Kyo's hand and hugged Tohru, transforming him into a light yellow rabbit. Most of the students, including Arisa and Hanajima, went to see the scene, only to be perplexed by the fact that why there is a rabbit.

To make some distraction, Yuki acted cute in his dress, and this distracts everyone to his attention, allowing Tohru and the others to escape the scene with Momiji.

At the school rooftop, Kyo berates Momiji for hugging Tohru, and thus, transforming him into a rabbit. Meanwhile, Masayuki, Emiko, and Handa are about to go to the rooftop when they're being stopped by Arisa and Hanajima.

"Who are you three?" Arisa asked them as she crossed her arms.

"Oh, us?" Masayuki responded back. "I'm Masayuki Honda, Tohru's cousin."

"I'm Emiko Honda," Emiko introduced herself to them, "his sister."

"I'm Handa Sohma," Handa introduced himself as well, "Kyo's younger brother."

After that, Arisa Uotani and Saki Hanajima introduced themselves to them. With that, Masayuki thinks in his mind, "They must be Tohru's friends as well...."

After some time, while in the same time Hatori and Momiji left the school with the picture of Kyo and Yuki smiling, Masayuki, Emiko, and Handa decided to go home, tired from all that chaos. Meanwhile, Tohru's other cousins are not happy about Masayuki's day- off from school, considering it as a dumb excuse for being lazy. But they were wrong.

Later at an intersection, Masayuki and Emiko wavered Handa goodbye before going home.

Later at Tohru's grandfather's house, after dinner, while Tohru's other cousins are arguing about his intentional absence from school to their stepfather, Masayuki was at his bedroom, listening to music in his headset and journaling about his day in his A5-sized notebook journal. He is an avid journaler since elementary, and spends most of his money on stationery items like pens, notebooks, and highlighters.
