The young woman concluded, looking over her list with the expression of someone extremely determined to succeed at her quest and impress her employers, “Mr. Amari didn’t actually say anything specific? He said you’d know?”

“Really?”

“He said…Don knows what I like, he said? And that you should enjoy yourself?”

“Hmm,” Don said, and eyed a bag of Viennese dark roast, with those spicy caramelized notes. He could put in some amaretto, at the end: not too sweet, but nutty. “I’ve got an idea or two.”

Raine did drop by very briefly in the late afternoon; heading out to a dinner with colleagues and clients, he said, and he couldn’t stay. Uncommon Grounds was busy—both Kit and Rin were taking orders—and Don glanced at the line and winced and came over to the side counter anyway. “What’d you think?”
