CHAPTER 3: THE GROVE SAGE ACADEMY CASE (KNOWING)

Josephine Li's Pov

I'm in the car heading to the Headquarters. I was talking to my son on the phone who's coming back in 3 days. It's been a long time since I saw him when he decided to study in States.

"Make sure to come back safely, son. I miss you so much,"

" I miss you too, Mom. Also, Mom, don't overwork yourself and be careful. You always overwork yourself that dad keeps complaining on me,"

" I know, if you keep nagging like this I might think that you are the parent here and I'm your child,"

"Hahahaha, Mom. Dream on. Just take care. I'm going to hang up now, I love you,"

"I lov— *screech*" I didn't manage to complete my sentence when my driver suddenly stop. Yes, driver. My husband and son don't let me drive to work since I always receive emergency calls and it's dangerous to drive while you are on your phone.

"Mom? Mom, what happened?! Are you okay?"

"I'm fine, son. Someone suddenly crosses over. Wait a minute son, I'm gonna check on her,"

I ended the call and walk to the girl who keep mumbling something. "Hey kid, are you okay?" I asked.

She didn't look up to me and kept mumbling something. I went closer to her and heard what she was saying.

"No one can help us. We're going to die. We're going to die,"

I suddenly look at her and I instantly knew she was in a state of shock. I hold her shoulder and make her look at me. "Listen, kid, I'm a police officer I can help you,"

She instantly looks at me with wide eyes then she crouches down holding her ears. "No no no, you can't help us. You just going to die,"

She keep saying the same thing that's why I decided to pull her to my car and bring her to the police station. On the way there, she kept mumbling the same thing.

We reach the headquarters and the officers keep greeting me. I went to my team and order them. " Everyone in the meeting room now," I said.

When everyone is here I told them about what happened earlier and asked the girl again. We keep asking her but she won't answer anything and keep saying the same thing.

"Kid, do you have your phone with you?" I asked but this time she responded. She took out her phone and gave it to me. She stops talking but keeps on shaking.

I turn on her phone and she don't even have any password on it. I open her contacts and saw the last person she contacted. Scar. I pressed her number and immediately she answered.

"Faith, where are you? Your parents called me and told me they can't contact you,"

"I'm sorry but I'm not Faith. I'm Captain Li of Hartford Axis Police. Your friend is here with us, can you come here?"

"....What is her state right now?" I got quite confused with this kid right now. Why is she asking her state right now? Shouldn't she ask why is she here?

"She keeps saying that no one can help them and they're going to die. We said that we can help her but she said we can't and we're just going to die then she keeps shaking right now?"

I heard her curse and said, "I'm going in there," before she hangs up. I look at the girl named Faith that is still shaking.

"You're Faith, right? I'm Captain Li, Josephine Li. Your friend Scar is coming here to pick you up," after I said that she look at me immediately and shock.

"S-scar? S-she's alive. S-she's alive," she said and started to cry.

She's alive? Does that mean Scar almost dies and she witnesses it? I look at my team and assigned them to work.

"Find information about this girl and that girl Scar, and also what happen to them," they nodded and start their work.

A few minutes later, a girl named Scar came. She saw Faith and start walking to her fast.

"Faith, are you okay? What happened?," She asked.

"S-scar? Scar!," She hugs her and keeps crying on her shoulder. "I-i thought you also d-died. A-after I heard that g-gunshot I thought y-you also d-died,"

Heard? Gunshot? Now I'm determined, something is going on that they can't tell.

"Shh, I'm here. I'm alive. Nothing happened to me, see," Scar comforted her.

"B-but the gunshot. I clearly heard it. It means someone d-died again," Again? I look at Scar and her expression turns dark. "W-who is it? W-who died?"

"My uncle," Scar look at me. "Are you Captain Li?"

"I am,"

"Can I bring her back home now? Her family is worried about her?"

"You can after you file a report. It seems that what's happening is related to murder. We need to catch the killer to ease your friend's condition. She's in a state of shock," she looks at me worriedly.

"I'm sorry I can't do that. The government officials can't meddle with our problem?" She pulled Faith with her leave.

"Captain Li, those kids," Archie spoke.

"Brent I want the information about those two by night. As for what we will do, we will do it tomorrow," I command. Those eyes that Scar has. She knows something that she's not telling her friend. How does she even know that the government officials can't help them? "Eliana, find out who is Scar's uncle,"

That kid is kind of mysterious, she knows who's doing this and don't want the police to meddle. But that can't happen, police are made to help and serve justice and not to let the matter go when they know something is going on. I need to help those kids.
