CHAPTER 7
"Mom am homeeeeeee "Alice screamed immediately she opened the front door to their sitting room.
"Ahhhhh pity my ear drums" ayra whined.
"Why should I? they are not mine to protect" Alice protested in reply .
"Always thinking about your own damn self all the friggging time".
"Yeah that's me a selfish bitch am not denying my identity" Alice said with a satisfied smirk .
"Seriously why do you have to announce your return by screaming?" Ayra questioned sipping a bottled water.
"Uhmm let's see " Alice began acting as though she was giving in some serious thoughts "because my voice is melodious and I love the sound of my voice".
She snorted under her breath and muttered "melodious indeed".
"Hello my babies" Catherine she mouthed while cleaning her wet hands with a kitchen towel.
"Hi mom they both enthused".
"Did my babies have fun today?" She asked turning to face them squealy .
Alice groaned "mom you know school ain't fun at all, in fact it was horrible the assignment and lecture the list is endless".
When her mom turned in her direction ayra wanted to second her sister's opinion about the stress and perils of education but Jack's smiling face swimed into her head and she said instead "oh school is fine screw that it's fun".
"You are a bookworm of course school would be fun for you" Alice said delicately munching a crispy Pringles.
"Did you know some find it incredibly offensive to be referred to as "bookworm"?"
"Oh really honey? Tell me you are a nerd without saying it directly".
"Mom Alice is getting on my nerves tell her stop" Ayra whined loudly.
"Calm down the two of you but honey I don't see a anything wrong in being called a book worm and you are one plus am very proud of your academic abilities".
"Exactly" Alice seconded.
"You would never understand me nor my abilities "she muttered stalking off to her room.
"Hey don't make this a big deal and you haven't eaten your food".
"I'm not hungry! Or better yet give my share to your favorite daughter".
"Ayr- hell why does she always think I have a favorite ?"she asked starring at Alice 's face as though the answer was written on her face .
Alive merely shrugged her shoulder.
"You know your sister hates being called a book worm then stop it are we clear on that? "
"Yeah mom okay I would keep that in mind in the distant future".
"You better do".
"Mom you know my birthday is coming up soon therefore I would appreciate a favour".
"What do you want love? "
"Nothing much just want to throw a very lavish party here for my friends and to celebrate my turning legal mom".
"You threw a beach party the last time don't you want to do something different and nice other than parties?" Catherine asked worriedly.
"Mom don't be uncool please I already told all my friends am throwing a party I can't back out now that would be disastrous I would lose everything mom".
"For someone that is turning into an adult in a few months you are regrettably dramatic and childish. Why will you say something when you ain't sure of it yet? "
"Mom I really thought this won't be a biggie you and I know I have a limited time line here. "
"Don't you ever pull that string on me I have allowed you a lot of unimaginable things because of that".
"Mom this isn't easy on me and you are making me feel worse".
"And you think it's easy on me to know that my daughter won't be able to - "
"Mom stop just stop okay you don't have to say it" .
"Christ Alice you are gonna be the death of me one day".

"I will approve on this party on the condition you apologize to your sister and no drugs in the party nor alcohol".
"Okay mom your wish is my command".
"I mean it Alice I have no qualms in chasing your friends away from my house if I perceive any drugs."
"Thanks mom I love you she kissed her two cheeks and ran upstairs to her room".
