Chapter 6 School.

Molly asked what was wrong with the gentlemen. I told them that they were still stunned after the Goddess herself wedded us and that they would be fine. They just need time to prosses the event. They got stunned at the news but found it exciting to hear that the goddess herself had wedded us. After a long time of chatting, they said they needed to get back to work for the night guards. I told them to please include some cake to them from us as a thank you for keeping us safe. They smiled and bowed before leaving.

Tom recovered from his shock and sat up drinking some tea. He asked how we would go on from here. I just said that we would finish school as planned and return home when we graduated. We would still sleep separately. I explained that it would be good for us to have our own rooms before moving in together. And that we have our entire life to get to know each other. He nodded and picked up Charles and went to bed.

Mia leaned up against me fiddling with the ring smiling. I stood up and said it would be best to go to bed. And reminded her that we have shopping tomorrow. She stood up and smiled at me. I kissed her on the cheek and said good night to her. As I walked back to my room I glanced back at her and saw she was red in her cheeks. But she was smiling as she started to walk to her room. I closed my door and laid down in bed thinking this was a crazy day as I fell asleep.

The next morning, I woke up slowly… I was about to get out of bed but when I turned to my side, I saw Mia laying there asleep… I thought she went to her own room… is everybody trying to get me in trouble… as I was laying there looking at her sleeping I saw Tom open the door looking scared…

Tom saw I was awake looking awkward at him… Crap… but when he saw Mia sleeping next to me, he breathed heavy out and relaxed with a smile… what the… he looks relived…

"Good morning…" I say nervously to him…

"Mm… good morning…" I saw Mia stretch and looked at me with sleepy eyes…

Her face started to redden more and more as she looked at me…

"nightmare?" I just asked to break the ice before she hid her face… too late…

"good morning. I was afraid you two had slept in separate beds your first night as newlywed…" Tom smiled but was nervously wiping a drop of sweat from his head…

"that was the plan… but when I woke up, she was asleep next to me…" I said a little confused…

"I remembered the wed curse when I was about to go to bed…" Mia mumbled out of her hands that covered her blushing face…

"wed curse?" I asked stunned and sat up in bed… there are curses?...

"it is an old wedding curse…" Tom said sitting down on the bed explaining it to me.

Tom told a story about a bride that got married away for politic reasons… she got tossed aside the moment they were wedded by both sides, and she did not even get to sleep in the same bed as her man. Felling betrayed by both sides of her family she walked into the breakfast she was not invited to and prayed out loud so even the staff could hear her angry voice and see her tears that anyone that would treat a bride like this would have a terrible fate… she then picked up a knife and stabbed it in her hearth and died… the two families that had just used her for politics reasons ended in a string of bad luck and died poor and alone…

Mia sat up and blushing a little glancing at me. I leaned my head gently on her shoulder. I saw her hands twitched a little…

"thank you for saving us Mia…" I said in a softly voice to her.

"y…you're not mad?" she asked…

"no. why would I be mad at you for saving both of our families…"

"I am just glad someone remembered the curse… but breakfast is ready." Tom smiled and stood up and walked out to the living room.

Mia and I got out of bed and walked out to the living room and sat down in the sofa. Tom and Charles was already there. We eat breakfast and chatted for a little. I asked if there were any more curses we needed to be aware of. But Charles said in a sorry voice that there was no more we had to worry about. After dinner we all got dressed and walked outside. The guards had prepared the wagon for them, and they were going to start traveling back. We were saying goodbye to them. Mia looked sad for her father to go but I held her hand as they started to drive away.

When they drove out of the academy grounds and disappeared I felt Mia's hold tighter on to my hand… I guess she got the same alone feeling that I got when we left Terrentil…

"so, when do you want to go shopping? Should we talk to Mitch and find out when they open the shops?" I smiled to her…

"okey." Mia nodded but was still looking towards where they had left.

I tighten my grip on her hand and said she was not alone, and if she ever felt alone she could talk to me. She smiled and nodded to me. we walked back inside and talked to Mitch about going out shopping. It was pretty straight forward. We would be escorted by 4 guards and Mitch offered to be our guide. we happily accepted his offer and not long after we were walking towards the shopping district nearby.

I asked Mitch about school clothing rules. And he explained that we could use our formal attire since we were royals. But he winked and said that the headmaster would like it if we had the school uniform on. I thanked him for the tip and asked him to take us to the shop that sold them.

I ordered 3 sets for both me and Mia after the tailor had taken our measurements. The tailor would have the first set ready and delivered to us today. The rest he would send when they are done. I got us some sort of school bag made of colored leather. Mia had a hard time choosing from a pink bag or the same one I had. I giggled and just told her that if we had the same color we might end up mixing them knowing she really wanted the pink one more…

She smiled and nodded and got the pink one. I paid for everything since mom and dad had send a lot of funds with me… I know Royals are rich but Dang… and beside I am the so-called husband…

Mitch took us to a school supply shop next where we got some notebooks and tools. I found the shop had some books on magic that was on the school teaching schedule. So, I bought them as well. I needed them for my ship creation. One of those books was about the gravity research that had been conducted true the years and one is about monolith stones. I asked if they sold those stones in the shop when I did not see them around. The lady nodded and took up a small box that was full of them. they were smaller than I thought, and I bought the entire box from her… she was shocked but smiled from ear to ear… I guess 2 gold was a lot of money… well I need them, and I have more than enuf gold to spend as an allowance that mom had divided to us.

For those who like the money calculation I had 150 gold coins to spend on my own personal stuff and after getting the uniforms, books, and tools, let's not forget the mono stones… I was down to 144 gold… like I said gold coins are worth A lot!... books and tools, some personal reading stuff, and mono stones came to 3 gold coins and from the clothing store was also 3 so total was 6 gold…

Mia had even added some books of her own, but it did not make a dent in my wallet… she pouted that she wanted to buy it herself holding her wallet purse of 150 gold, but I told her that I just wanted to treat my wife on our first shopping trip together… Yep she turned pink and just nodded smiling at the floor… reality was that I needed to get a grasp of economy in general since I had not been outside shopping before… but she looked cute blushing like that, and I could not help to giggle at her…

We walked around shopping and enjoyed ourselves for a long time. We even stopped at a restaurant and had a meal with Mitch and the guards. The guards said at first that it would not be polite for them to eat with us, but I just made a speech about how it would just slow down our shopping and it would make us feel rude not to treat the guards protecting us with some good food… Mitch giggled to me and told them not to be rude at a generous offer… and explained that I just wanted to get to know them better. The guards smiled and joined us for lunch. After lunch we had some tea and chatted a little before returning to our shopping.

I had learned from Mitch that the shipyard made some small sailing boats for cost travel, and when I asked if it would be possible to go there he explained that since it was a bit of a walk he could send a guard back to get a small carriage to pick us up from there when we were done shopping. I saw Mia's eyes grow sparkly from our talk, so I just nodded to him.

As we walked down to the docks Mia bought some scarfs and other girl stuff on our way there. She seemed happy and was talking a lot about the items. I though scarfs was a winter thing but nope… she explained that it was much thinner and made out of silk, so it was for fashion and giggled to me… well I guess I learned that summer scarfs was a thing here too….

After a while of walking, we made it down to the dock. Mitch introduced me to Dockmaster Mark. He showed me some drawings of the sailboat. And after I got the gist of what I wanted explained to him he calculated that it would be around 4 gold after my modifications and the delivery to the school yard where I live. I ordered a sheet fence big enuf to keep prying eyes away from it as well for 1 gold extra. And Mark told me that it would be done in max 2 months' time. I paid the bill and now my wallet was down to 138 gold. I had gotten some other stuff at the marked too. After a long day of shopping and ordering a modified sailboat that Mark found odd but would build to my specks anyway.

We walked out to the ocean and sat down on a bench as we waited for the carriage to come. Mia looked stunned at all the water stretching out as far as she could see. We talked about what may live under the ocean smiling out towards the sea. One of the guards told us that some fisherman had seen a large white whale. Another told us about a big octopus. There were many creatures that resembled my old worlds fairy tale stories. After a while, the carriage arrived.

We got on our ride and started to head home in the small open carriage. Mitch saw that I looked around smiling sitting on the side benches and explained that they used this one for city travel since it was smaller and could fit easily in the smaller alleyways. It was a little bumpier ride than a normal carriage, but it maneuvered nice and I saw you could easily fit two if not tree in a normal street.

It did not take long for us to get home. Mia smiled happy as we carried our stuff inside. I sat my stuff down on the desk in my room and started to flip true the books I have gotten. The gravity book had some spells on gravity, but they were basic and unrefined, there were some notes on the original owner but other than a control stone the book was useless to me…

The monolith book explained the use of the mono stones and had a couple of examples. One was to store mana inside for emergency use. Basically, a battery… I think I can improve that one… another was for gathering mana from the surroundings… eh… so I got a battery and a generator…

I entered my magic Orb and started to work on the gravity spell from the book. It was basically changing the direction of the gravity particles. I had to scrap that spell and make a new one from scratch… I made the new gravity spell work with the material it was touching, and it wound render the gravity to zero on activation… I had it so you could tweak the output as it worked true a connection…

I started working on a spell that I called mono molder… yes, I know me and naming things again… the spell was simple. Shape the mono stones and bound my spell into it. It would allow me to change the properties of the mono stone to customize it as I wanted. In the book one researcher melted the stones together in a long and difficult prosses to combine the store and generator spell to try and make an unlimited mana, but the melting prosses made the stones crisp and was easy to damage.

But he did make it… so the concept works… I was thinking of just melting mono wire to it as a transfer method… so I open my eyes and started to experiment. I took a tiny mono stone and processed it to gather mana and another to act as a battery. I melted down the mana wire between them and connected it. It was slow to both make and gather power. And the mono wire was to slow to transfer the mana true it. it did not get hot like electricity did in my old world, but it was just too slow.

Mia came and said it was dinner time and stated that I needed to clean my floor. I looked down and saw that I had just walked in and dropped everything… when I scratched my head looking at the floor she started to giggle at me… I hurried and cleaned up the floor and placed everything where it should be. Mia asked about the two mono stones connected to each other on my desk as I placed everything on my shelf. I explained it to her and said it had something to do with my faster way to travel home so I could yell at my mom… she just giggled at me saying I should not bear a grudge for so long it is not healthy for me… I just replied. What are you my wife… witch made her laugh out loud walking up to me and gave me a hug…

"thank you…" Mia said to me.

"eh… for what?" I hugged her back.

"everything… not getting mad at me for laying down in your bed. The wedding. You just make everything easier to deal with…" she looked at me with a soft smile.

"pff… second day and my wife tells me to clean my room…" I pouted at her.

She just giggled at me and took my hand and dragged me off to the living room. We sat and eat and chatted like normal. she confessed that she was afraid I would abandon her like the story's her mom had told her. I confessed that I was worried that I would get blamed for everything that happened. Since I am expected to be on top of everything like a prince should… she told me that if there were anyone to blame it was our parents that sett this in motion. We joked about making taking revenge saying we wanted a divorce to my mom just to see what she would say… we both agreed that it was too risky even if it was a joke… after dinner I had gotten a paper and started writing on it. Mia wondered what I was writing, and I just told her that with my luck I was probably be asked to make an opening speech… she giggled at me, but she got a pen and paper after I told her maybe she would be asked too… I just made mine simple. Mia asked if I could help with her speech I nodded and help her make a simple speech too. It was starting to get late, so we said good night after practicing speaking it and went to bed.

The next morning, I got woken up by Molly knocking on the door saying breakfast would be ready soon. She open the door when I stated I was awake laid a fresh ironed school uniform on my bed. I thanked her as she walked out and got dressed. I packed my school bag with the necessary books and some to read in my free time. I walked out to the living room were Mia was already eating breakfast. She smirked at me asking if I stayed up all night reading… I just smiled awkward back and said it was only for an hour… I said she looked nice in her uniform trying to change the subject.

She smiled and thanked me… after breakfast we started to walk outside, and Mitch greeted us with two guards. One for each of us. he told us that the guards would not be inside the classroom, but they would follow at a short distance and to try to keep themselves as discreet as possible. They would only interfere if they deemed it necessary. Mitch also told us that if anyone entered the classroom and they were safe the guard would make eye contact. If they did not do that we were to hide or escape back to the villa if possible… Mia and I nodded to him and I thanked them for taking good care of us.

Me and Mia headed over to the school and when we entered we saw that everyone was wearing the same uniform, making us blend inn like normal students. I smirked to Mia who looked puzzled at me as I walked towards the crowd. She soon found out what I was planning as we walked incognito with all the students. We followed the crowd into a large auditorium. We found some seats one row behind the front row. And sat down. Mia giggled to me and asked if I was having fun…

When I asked her quietly if her royal princess was having fun too… she looked nervus around if someone heard me but nodded and giggled to me… a woman in black professor cloak came on stage and raised her hand signaling everybody to stop talking. The auditorium quiet down in an instant…

She started to introduce herself to us as Headmistress Kelly. She held a warm welcoming speech for the new students that joined the second year. Whishing us a safe and worry-free year of studding at the school… she went over the different classes and other than morning lectures we would be doing a lot of self-study. She also explained that we must select a work program. And that we could find it out in the hall on the bord. I noticed that she looked at me and smiled at the end of her speech. I smiled awkward back… I guess we got spotted… I said to Mia…

"now anyone of the new students want to speak…" Kelly said and smiled at me.

I just tapped Mia to follow me and we stood up and walked around the front row and up on stage… everyone looked at us confused as we lined up next to Kelly without saying a word…

"it seems that our two new students from Terrentil would like the honor of speaking on behalf of the new class." Kelly said and stretched her hand to me… I take a step forward and straightened my back.

"Thank you Headmistress Kelly. I would like to thank the Royals and the academy for such a warm welcome to Embar. On behalf of the Royal Family of Terrentil I Prince Austin of Terrentil would like to thank the teachers and our senor students for the chance to study with you." I take a step back and hear gasp from the audience. Mia takes a step forward…

"Thank you for the lovely warm welcome and for the opportunity to expand our knowledge at such a lovely academy. I would like to thank you all from behalf of the new class for making such a kind and warm welcome, and we look forward for your guidance in our joint search for knowledge. On behalf of the Royal Family of Terrentil, I Princess Mia of Terrentil thank you for the welcome to Embar." Mia take a step back to my side. She looks a little blushed after her first speech in public, but I must admit she did really good…

"with those lovely words I announce that the school for this year have started. Make sure to check in at the reception to get your class schedule and dorm rooms." Kelly clap her hands together and a lovely sparkle of small firework shoots up in the air giving a little light show for everybody…

Everybody stands up and applaud with a smile. Kelly leads us down from the stage and everybody moves out of the auditorium.

"thank you for such a lovely speech Prince Austin and Princess Mia of Terrentil." Kelly curtsy to us.

"please Headmistress. We are your students just call us by our first names. If we are to follow the Royal degree I fear that our school time would double. beside we are the ones that hid from you among the other students." I smile and giggle to her with a polite bow.

"thank you Austin and Mia. I see you are wearing the school uniform on as well." Kelly smiles at us.

"yes Headmistress Kelly. We feel we would not be considered fellow students if we show up in formal attire. And it would intimidate the other students that should focus on learning." Mia said and curtsy to her.

"okey then please call me Kelly. And allow me to guide you to the reception. So, you can get your schedule for the classes." Kelly smiles to us.

She gave us a quick tour of the school as we walked to the reception. She took the long way around I guess… she showed us where the other students lived. There was a lot of students trying to find their rooms. We walked true a huge library and she explained that the students were allowed to use it freely but to keep spellcasting to one of the training rooms to avoid damage to the books.

She showed us a row of rooms that was the training rooms and explained that they could be fitted with target dummies and other gadgets. We only needed to book the room at the reception first. I asked if it were safe to fire of a powerful spell inside and she nodded to me and said that the walls were enchanted with absorber magic and I would not be able to harm anyone. And that they had four shooting ranges for long target practice.

She took us to a chemical lab that had a protective glass so people could watch without the risk of exposure to fumes or any other deadly toxins. Mia looked exited and asked if they made perfume inside. Kelly giggled and said that they did. It was a good way to get girls interested in alchemy studies. I asked if they had a research facility for developing new magic spell or technology. She shake her head but asked what I meant with new technology. I explained that if I wanted to make a streetlight that run on magic but turned off at daytime to gather mana and store it for nighttime.

She looked at me like I had said something brilliant and asked if I was willing to do a trial run of a small group to test if it was worth pursuing. I said yes but we would probably need dedicated test training room that was off limits to those who did not know what the dangers of touching the equipment that we were trying. She nodded and said she would try to find a good place for it. I asked her how it would be if me or another student developed something new. Would the school take the product away… and if they did. it probably would be demoralizing for students to try their best to find something new… she just looked at me like I was a walking teddy bear with her big green eyes smiling at me. she asked if I could write down more about it and give it to her another time… I nodded and said I would try to have a draft ready tomorrow. She nodded happily to me and looked excited as she walked off with her head in the clouds thinking about the ide… me and Mia just stood there looking at her walking away… she stopped and looked back blushing a little. She said she would guide us to the reception to get our schedule. We followed her and got our schedule. She pointed at the classroom and said it was there we should meet after lunch. She pointed across the hall and said there is the cafeteria for students and teachers to eat. She offered to get us a private room to eat at, but we told her it was fine… we could rater ask if we needed one in the future…

She said her goodbye and left with her head in the clouds thinking about something. Mia just giggled and said we should probably go over and grab some lunch before class starts. We walked into the cafeteria and saw a lot of people chatting and eating. When we started to walk up to the food line everybody stood up and bowed to us… even the people in the food line turned around and bowed…

"fellow students and teachers… at school please treat us as fellow classmates instead of royals." I stated out loud to them.

"will that not be rude of us?" one of the teachers spoke up.

"no. we are students just like you. we don't want any special treatment than normal curtesy. Beside we are here to study just like you. who are we to have special treatment… it is us who should bow to our teachers and seniors in a place of learning. Just treat us as normal classmates. The only thing I ask is that you don't run up to us with the intent to show us the progress of your enchanted weapons. We are escorted by guards and they get grumpy is I play sword fights…" I glance over at one of the guards that giggle at my comments.

"t…they won't hurt us if we approach you in the hall? Or if we disagree with you on something?" one of the students ask.

"no. the guards will only act on threats discerning our life. And I like to discuss different views with you. that is what school should be about. To learn different views. To be challenged and to learn from each other. We are fellow students just like you." I smile to them.

The smiled back and sat gently down. Some students were nervus, but when the teachers sat down they followed.

"thank you for understanding. Please in the future just act normal around us." me and Mia bowed to them.

We continued to the food line and stood in the back. The student in front looked nervus. So, I asked if he knew what was one the menu today… he told me that it was omelet a little more nervus and asked if he should step aside for me… I shake my head and told him that it would be rude of me to cut in line. And that the headmistress would probably write me up for detention if I did…

He looked at me awkward but just nodded at me. we waited our turn and got our food before sitting down at an empty table. The guards sat down with us as instructed and chatted with us and joked about if we didn't do the homework we would have to run a lap around the house… I think Mitch had told them to act as a friendly buffer… I just pouted and complained that homework is boring… it should be banned from all the schools in the world… I could hear a few teachers and students giggle from my comment… we finished our meal and took our tray back to the cleaning desk. The guards just sat at the table chatting like normal, but I could tell they were keeping a discreet eye on their surroundings and was watching over us like hawks. We walked over to the classroom and found some seats in front. I chatted with Mia about the Orb skill. Then the teacher walked in. and introduced himself.

"I am Leo, and I will be your teacher this semester. Except from today every class will start every morning and after class you are expected to do self-studying until end of day. We will do random checkups on you so don't think about slacking off. For students that need help on subjects just talk to any teacher and they will guide you from there. Now everybody get your magic for beginners and open it on page one." The teacher said to the class.

Great the one book I had to memorize in its full length for mom… I took the book out and just placed it on my desk. I did not open it as the teacher started to read. I had gotten a notepad and pen and started to write down the overview of the research club. I included a draft of a patent office and rules for both inventor and the patent office. There would be a committee of people to review the invention. And the inventor had the opportunity to meet with them to explain the invention.

As I sat there writing down the draft I had not noticed that Leo was standing in front of me and the whole class was quiet…

"Prince Austin…" I looked up and saw Teacher Leo look at me.

"yes Teacher?" I asked confused.

"what is so important that it drags your attention away from class? Want to share it with us?" he looks at me firmly.

"sorry Teacher. I have already memorized the book and I did not mean to be disrespectful. But I am just writing a new governing law called Patent office. It is to protect the inventor and the governing nation for fraud and makes sure the inventor is not a fraud or being fooled by a third party." I explained out loud to him.

"you memorized the hole book…" Teacher Leo asked stunned.

"yes." I said looking confused at him.

He then started to ask me questions just like mom did… I answered them as soon as he asked without delay. He started to smile more and more as he asked. After a while of quick questions, he stopped and looked at me.

"was that all you needed to ask to be sure I know everything?" I asked confused.

"y…yes. why?" he stuttered to me.

"well, my mom had me do a tree day test of the book, so I did not expect it to be over so fast…" I replied honestly…

"t…three days…" the teacher paled in front of me…

"yes Teacher. Queen Telly is um… extra attentive when teaching us." Mia said to the teacher. Yep she had to memorize the book too before she could use magic. Mom is a tyrant teacher… I think she just find it cute when we got the correct answers and could not stop asking and cuddle us when we got it right…

"a…and now you're working on a new law for your kingdom?" Leo asked stunned.

"no teacher. I am currently working on a law for the entire world." I said honestly to him.

"w…world… but how will you make other dominions follow them? it's not like you can force them…" he asked stunned.

I explained the patent rule out loud to him so the entire class could hear it and explained that any country, land, or town would not be able to buy or receive service that came from the patent office…

"so yes teacher. It's true that I cannot directly force them. but if they want to benefit from technology they have to sign the treaty and abide by its rules…" I smiled to him.

Stunned he tapped on a pin on his shirt… only a few seconds later Headmistress walked in the door to him. she had a firm look on her face as she stopped in front of Leo. I stood up to show my respect to the Headmistress Kelly and I heard the entire class stood up when I did.

"what is the problem?" she asked him firmly.

"he say he is making a new rule for the world." Leo manage to mumble out and pointed at me.

Kelly looked at me and I just handed her the notebook that I wrote the new rule in. she took it and looked over it and I saw she started to smile more and more… after a while she gave the book back to me smiling. she turned back to Leo.

"yes. was that all?" she asked.

"but he is forcing it on the world…" Leo looked stunned at Kelly.

"they can choose if they want to follow the new rule or not. He is not some evil master mind he is only 7 years old for heaven's sake. Beside I am the one who asked him to write it down for me." she said to him firmly…

"6 years old…" I stated back.

"hu…" Kelly looked at me.

"I am only 6 years old. I will turn 7 in less than a week." I pouted to them.

"right… sorry Austin." Kelly giggled to me.

She explained the research program to Leo in a calm voice and said it was a brilliante idea… she even had me explain to the class what the purpose of the "research club" was and that it would be good for the students to challenge themselves. After I was done explaining it to the class she said her goodbyes and left. Leo was still a little stunned, but he continued the class. He did not ask me or Mia any more questions for the rest of the class… after the end of the class I walked up to his desk and apologized for not paying attention in class and that I would participate in the future even if I knew the subject. I ended my apology with a formal bow to him.

He said it was fine and that I was free to work on it in class as long as it did not interrupt his teachings. I smiled and nodded to him as I thanked him for being so kind to me.

Mia and I walked over to the library. She sat down at one of the big tables and started studding some magic spell, and I walked around looking around at all the books. Thinking I would need a small army to be able to catalog every invention up to now. I sat down next to Mia and wrote a "help needed with pay" I explained that I needed someone who was good with tedious work and did not mind desk work… I walked back to Leo and asked if I could post it on the bord just to be safe.

He smiled and said that it would be fine. He asked me if it would impact the students learning… I told him the truth that yes it would. He looked at me puzzled so I explained that I wanted to catalog the library so the students would have to read a lot of materials and would probably learn things they would normally never search for on their own… he laughed and said that he would welcome that sight with a smile…

I walked out in the hall after our talk and hang the note up. I saw there was a lot of jobs and clubs there. They even had a tutoring requests for different subjects. And team sword practice.

If I were not trained by Tom I would definitely do the sword team practice. But at home I was able to go toe to toe with Charles who was a knight… and bringing that level of swordfight here would not be good… the bow and arrow club was interesting since I was not allowed to go hunting in my town. but I decided I had enuf to deal with the research club… why do I always make more work for myself…

I walked back to Mia and took up my notes and books and started study. It was quiet in the library, so I was able to focus on my monolith study. I found a book on metallurgy and learned that I could incorporate another metal in the mono stone. I just needed to keep it under 1300 witch was the stones boiling point.
