Chapter 16 The Return of Angel.
"we are going home?" Vicki and the solders looked at me stunned…
"Yes. we have been fighting for 3 years now, and I the ship needs maintenance so I have planned with the dockmaster so we can dock at Embar. and I for one would like to have one night where that alarm don't go off…" I smirked looking at them smiling at me…
Everybody looked at me… Ryan, Caleb, Jack, Fredrick, Ezra, Joseph, Evan, James, Ben, and Vicki… they smiled all quietly looking at me…
"h…how far away are we?" Ryan asked softly…
"we should get out of the Dark zone in 5 days, but we will take a detour and make sure we are not followed…" I said back to them…
"We are going home Archangels!" Ezra yelled out happy standing up cheering…
"don't be so loud…" Vicki said looking firmly at him…
"Sorry Valkyrie…" Ezra said to Vicki…
Yee… funny story about that… one of the smaller packs of beasts manage to work together to throw one of their own up to the ship and it climbed on to the deck in the middle of the fight and was about to go jump on the men at the cannons… luckily Vicki had come up preparing for crew change and saw the beast... she had grabbed a spear from the weapon rack at the door and tossed it straight at the beast's head, the spear was stuck to the front railing with the lifeless beast dangling and twitching hanging from the spear… Ben said she looked like a Valkyrie and that's how Vicki got the battle name Archangel Valkyrie…
So, the name Archangel spread around the ship and they asked me if they could have it as a new title since we were the first flying ship in the world… I liked the name of course so I made it official… Vicki loved the nick name Valkyrie and she asked me once to make her an armor so she could use when fighting…
Me of course went overboard and made her a full fledge Valkyrie armor with folding wings… yes… I know it was a bit too much… but I had barely gotten to do something other than battling and steering the ship all this time… and trust me that gets old after a few months…
I had tweaked the wings to move as they carried her when she flew… she could even use them as a shield with controlling them with her mind… Vicki who loved that she could control the wings used them like extra arms pointing and hand gestures in front of the crew to show them off proudly… I even caught her resting back on them after a long battle with one of the bigger packs…
Soon enuf everybody wanted new armor… with wings… and bored as I was I made them… I even made one for myself… but mine had a golden glow too them… the other's was white… only Vicki and Jeff had a golden stripe on top of their wings to show rank level…
And of course, we had to set new rules after they tried to fly up the stairs with them… it's not that they could not do it… but after Caleb and Jack flew side by side up the stairs and crashed into each other… yes I know you would have done it too, because I did… who do you think started flying up the stairs in the morning…
Well Valkyrie banned indoor flying unless there was an emergency… and trust me… the battle siren was not an emergency… yep… you know who did and got scolded for it…
"what are you thinking of brother…" Vicki asked me as I was holding my cup of tea looking down at the table smiling…
"the Caleb and Jack incident…" I said giggling at her…
"w…we did our punishment…" Jack said looking stunned at me…
"yee beside we are much better at flying indoor now…" Caleb said looking at us…
"Come Again?" Vicki said looking at them…
"they mean that they have gotten better controlling their wings at the training area inside the storage…" I said giggling at her…
"oh… that is not flying that is training to use the wings in combat… but don't anybody get the idea that I have lifted the indoor flying ban… the next person who fly indoor will get a week of dishwashing…" Vicki looked firmly around at us…
Everybody nodded at her firm look gazing over them…
"everybody trained there flying and landing?" I looked over at Joseph smiling…
"I am not quite comfortable with the landing part yet…" Joseph said quietly…
"we can practice up on deck after our shift and I can guid you how you do it." Evan said smiling at Joseph…
"remember to train the graceful landing too. I think we should give the people in Embar something to talk about once we get home" I said smiling to them…
They nodded looking excited at me before chatting about returning home… I got up and walked back to my room and sat down at the desk... I sat there looking at the map 3d map I had created with the help of the ship sensors and echo location devices I had placed around the sides of the ship… we had cleared a small region of the world in 3 years…
I have managed to keep the pressure away from the cities, but that just meant we had to keep fighting everything ourselves… 12 people… I had run out of materials to craft and repair the ship as it got damaged, and we have been taking a lot of hits to the ship… I had to replace a few of the mono blocks that got blasted away with the hull…
And right now, we are in a critical situation since I had used the last of the mono stones to replace the destroyed one. But I have covered the ship in a dense fog so we would blend with the clouds in the sky, but the ship had been bombarded with magic attacks, so I had to do a patch work on the hull with metal and right now the bottom of the ship was more metal than wood…
Metal is heavy and the mono blocks had to work extra hard since I didn't have more to add to the hull… and changing to metal hull had made the gravity spell in the blocks work hard since it only keep the gravity for the upper part of the hull have a positive gravity and the lower part negative gravity… more power to one to go up and down and equal to stay in that position…
One of the spells from the beasts manage to shoot true the armour shell I had put on the bottom and hit the water and septic tank with the support beam in the middle… everybody had to protect me as I was fixing it, and the beasts knew they had gotten a good hit inn, so they started swarming like crazy… since I was occupied repairing the hull everybody had surrounded the damaged section and killing beast with spears and swords as they swarmed on top of each other to reach us…
The battle was hard on the men and I was shooting vine blades with one hand and used the Mono moulder with the other… once I had patched the tanks and hull up, I joined them in the fight using my fists as weapon… I was out of material and had to use my sword on the last patch…
I had ordered Jeff to start flying up with the ship to get it away from the beasts so they would not hit my crude patchwork… once the ship started to move, I ordered the archangels to guard the bottom of the ship from spells and I was guarding them…
I had punched and kicked and even used vine blades like a maniac as the beasts charging at me… so there was vine blades and needle spikes flying everywhere around me… and as the bodies was starting to pile up the ship was moving slowly up as the mono stones started to sync with the rest…
And once the ship was out of their reach, I flew up at high-speed casting flame below me as I flew upwards… I had managed to kill a lot of enemies in that short time… I had looked down at the ground and there was over a thousand dead darkness beasts bodies on the ground where I was…
When I landed back on the deck everybody looked pale at me covered in blood, even my wings was dripping with blood...
Well apparently, one of the beasts got a good hit inn because I felt pain in my shoulder… I had looked down on it and saw the needle sticking into my shoulder… I just grabbed it and yanked it out… cursing the lucky beast that manage to hit the soft spot in my armour.
Blood gushed out from my wound as I gritted my teeth together from the pain… as I was angry, I had walked over and cast barrage down on the beasts torching every single one…
Valkyrie dragged me down to the infirmary after my tantrum was done and dressed up my wound pouting and scolding me for being too reckless… I could not get a word in as she had ripped of my shoulder guard and held a compression on it… Jeff had entered the infirmary and took off my chest Armor… they started to stitch me up ignoring me trying to talk…
I gave up since they was both angry and complained worrying to me… that is when I lowered my head and looked down at my knees noticing all the blood… no wonder they was yelling at me, I was covered both in my own blood and beast blood… as I was looking stunned at my bloody body, I had heard Vicki take a photo… so when I looked up, she was holding her phone typing… I should have realized it back then, but I was too tired from all the battle and blood loss…
Not long after Mia had called me on video chat crying her eyes out… Jeff and Vicki just smirked at me saying that I was fine calming her down… I gave them an angry steer as I said to Mia that I had two siblings that was too overprotecting and would not listen to me that I could heal the wound in a second…
Irritated that they had worried Mia for no reason at all, I walked out of the infirmary back to my room… leaving Vicki and Jeff speechless as Mia was yelling true the phone at them… Mia knew that I could heal but she panicked when she had gotten the picture in the middle of class and called me right away…
Apparently, the student behind her had glanced over at her phone and puked at the sight of blood and passed out… so Kelly had to escort Mia to her office because she refused to hang up… even Kelly looked a little pale as she saw me when she walked with Mia… I had managed to calm her down and explained that I only had a little needle in my shoulder and the blood was mostly from the beasts I had killed…
After a long talk calming Mia down and promising to stay safe, she made me show her my wound as I was drying of the blood from my body… she calmed down but made me promise to come home for a bit… so that is how we ended up needing to go home… we still needed repair on the ship, so it was a nice timing… she blushed saying that I probably would get a little scar… I had told her that I would just heal it up but then Kelly butted in saying scars are sexy and called me a slow genius… I had just smirked at them as they both blushed red and looked away from the camera…
After promising to come home soon I told Mia that I had duties to attend even if I was injured… reluctantly she said goodbye to me and hung up… Vicki and Jeff had knocked on the door and came inside apologizing to me… I explained to them that next time they had to pay attention to the patient and not panic like that, I even explained that one of Mia's classmates had puked and passed out in class as she had seen all the blood… they promised that it would not happen again…
I had explained that we needed to make port and I would tell the crew after I had taken a bath… so I had taken a bath and told them and now I am still sitting here looking at a rough map of the darkness zone…
In 3 years, we had only managed to take down the infestation down 5% and that is a lot considering that it was 80% of the world… I need guns… or this is going to take 40 to 45 years to clear out… that is the real reason why I am going back… I need metal and mono stones… and I know the crew needed some free time…
I plotted the course back to Embar with the detour… 5 days until we get out of this dreaded fog around the ship… it's not like we cannot see but the sunlight don't shine as good true the fog… it makes it look depressing and grey… I missed sunlight and the blue sky… being forced to stay inside this fog spell of mine is bad for morale… the crew was fine with it… but I did not like hiding… this is our world and even if I was reborn into it as a prince fox… I was still born here… just you wait until I get my ship modified darkness… you will have no chance of stopping us then…
Days passed as we made our way true the skies… everybody was on edge since we was not fighting anymore… it was a weird sensation… we were so used to fight every six hours and now we had free time on the ship… I updated both Paul and Mia of our time back regularly… I even had time to call Mia a more often… one time I had called her in the middle of class… Mia blushed when she picked up with Kelly smiling at me on her side asking for another lecture over the phone…
Since I had nothing better to do, I agreed, and Kelly got me to call back on her number… as she had made a modified version of the screen bigger so all the students could watch notes and diagram of the text… as I connected to it, I saw it was a simple spell… I had connected to it so I just smirked as Kelly talked proud of her invention, I could not see them… I entered admin mode that only I had on the phone and changed a few things… I told Kelly to take a mono stone and hold it on top of the screen… she said she had placed it there…
I used the connection and made a create camera spell that would delete the spell afterward and not the camera… I pressed the button and the picture started to flicker a little before It showed me the classroom… Mia was smiling as I told them that I could see them now… Kelly looked stunned at the camera…
As I hovered the phone in front of me, I asked what I subject they wanted to learn about... the students asked about the ship smiling to me… I told them that I cannot teach them out the battleship since it was a military asset, and it is highly restricted… they looked a little sad… so I told them I could take them on a tour instead…
I had to warn them that there was a possibility that they could see a beast and maybe blood, I apologized for the picture that got sent… earlier and told them I have given them a stern talking to for sending out a grotesque picture like that… I started to show them around my room and explained that it was my working station since I was in charge of updating the maps and keeping logs… Kelly asked if I could show where we were on the map right now… I shake my head and explained that I could not show it true the video feed because of security reasons…
She asked if I had made it on a screen smirking to me… I nodded and said I have made a virtual map of the area where we have been… she was smiling as I stood in my office explaining… one of the girls asked if that was a bed behind me looking puzzled at the screen… I nodded and showed them around my room and explained that this was both a bed room and a working office… I got a few comments that it was beautiful and looked like a royal palace… I giggled and told them that it was the overall interior design I had built in the ship and walked out to the common room… Vicki and a few archangels was sitting there talking but they looked at me puzzling as I walked out talking to my flying phone…
"I am showing the students at the academy around the ship… so no foul language archangels…" I looked at them explaining…
Vicki came over smiling and looked at the phone… she smiled and waved to Mia calling her sister…
"Valkyrie you're making her uncomfortable…" I looked at Vicki a little firmly… she stopped waving and stood normal nodding to me…
"why do you call them Archangels and Valkyrie?" Kelly asked puzzled to me…
"oh… oh… can I show them brother?" Vicki smiled to me…
I smiled and nodded to her pointing for her to move over… I explained to the class that the name stuck after I made the Armor for us and turned the phone around over to Vicki…
"go ahead Valkyrie… but remember the rule." I smiled to her…
Vicki nodded smiling to me and holding out her arm and made her spear fly to her… she grabbed the decorated spear and unfolded her wings in a majestic stance…
"I am Archangel Valkyrie… Nice to meet you fellow classmates of Princess Mia…" Vicki smiled proudly to the class…
I walked to Vicki's side looking at the class that was stunned from the sight… Mia already knew and have seen the wings before, so she was not shocked like the rest… but she was blushing was looking down at her desk…
"this is why we got the nicknames Archangels… we fly in the sky and we battle in the sky… the wings can move like you would move a hand and it is one of our guarded secrets…" I said explaining to the class as I lifted Vicki's wing up and down…
"brother… that tickles…" Vicki giggled at me and folded her wing around herself…
"eh… sorry sister…" I said a little stunned at her holding on to her wing pouting innocent at me like I had touched her tail…
"a…angels. But you where are your Halo?" Kelly looked at us stunned and asked…
"Eh…" I looked at the class leaning forward to look closer at us…
"they don't show on true the phone?" Vicki walked over to me and poked in the empty air like I had a Halo above me…
"sister what are you doing?" I smirked at her…
"oh… I am sorry brother… did I tickle you?" Vicki giggled and took away her hand…
I just looked stunned at her as she was giggling to me… I frowned looking at her… but then a faint circular light appeared above Vicki's head… H…Halo… I looked a little stunned above her head… and I could see a faint green colour shine slightly true the white light… I looked down to Vicki again… she was looking stunned above my head… I glanced up and saw a golden crowned Halo above my head…
Mamma Nature is probably having fun with us right now… I looked back at the students that was even more stunned as they saw the Halo above our heads… Vicki giggled and smiled towards the class touching her finger on my Halo… I could actually feel her touching the Halo…
"can you see it now?" Vicki giggled touching my Halo with her finger…
"sister… that tickles…" I glanced over at her smirking firmly…
She giggled but settled down glancing a little jealous at my Halo… I just stretched my finger above her head and gently touched her Halo smirking at her… she laughed holding her head bending away from me… I turned the camera to show only me as I asked if they had more questions… I glanced over and saw Vicki was looking up touching and squeezing her Halo confused…
"are you immortal?" Kelly asked stunned…
"no. we are fox and human people just like most of you, we are not immortal, but then again what happens when we die… do we just disappear?" I asked the class smiling…
"I thought we go see Mother Nature…" Vicki snapped back and said to me…
"Valkyrie… I am asking the class." I giggle to her as I look at her looking fiddling with her Halo looking at me…
"um… don't we go back to the earth… like compost?" one of the male students asked stunned…
"the body does… but what about your soul?" I asked smiling to him…
"eh… I thought we did not have a soul…" he replied back.
"hmm… then what would control your mind and body… what would give you the feeling of what is right and wrong…" I said acting pondering in the air…
"your soul…" Vicki came over and smiled as she spoke to the class…
"Dear wife… can I strangle your big sister now?" I said pouting as I looked at Mia…
She was actually giggling at us… I was afraid she would be mad at Vicki being so friendly with me… I guess she finely learned to trust her…
"please be nice to my sister…" Mia smiled gently at me…
"okey…" I said pouting…
"you mean there is an afterlife?" Kelly asked looking at me…
"I don't know… but it would seem like a waste of a soul if there was not, don't you think?" I said a little cryptic and smiled childish to them…
I continued the tour around the ship with Vicki taking more and more over explaining things… at the end I was just acting as a camera man filming as she showed of the ship and talked about how it was to live here…
She got a question from a girl if she had to use the same bath as the men onboard… she shake her head and showed them the girls bathroom with the big tub…
"and this is where I get to soak my wings and relax after a long day of flying and battling…" she smiled and stretched her wing out to the tub like she was gesturing with her hand…
She turned on the water and held her wing under it to show that we had running water onboard… she turned of the water smiling and shake her wing over the tub to get the water off saying that it took a little while for the warm water to come… the class was giggling and smiling at her…
She continued to show them the kitchen where we made food… they asked if everybody cooked and where we got the food… she explained that everybody took turn to make food… she looked at me as I was shaking my head when she glanced over at the Dome… she then smiled and said it was a little Angel secret how we get food winking to them…
She started to walk up to the deck explaining that we have two shift that would guard the ship on the deck and made a little hush sign to them to be quiet as we walked up the stairs… since we had the fog around us, I had informed the crew that they should make stay quiet on the deck to minimize detection…
She waved her hand for the class to follow her outside hunching a little down and held her spear ready in her hand… I was surprised how good of an entertainer she was for the class… everybody had hunched down with her as they sat in their chairs looking excited as she walked out to the deck like she was hunting…
Vicki talked in a soft voice showing the cannons and explained that we used them for hunting down the Darkness so that the people would be safer… she walked over to the railing and showed the class that we were high up in the clouds and not surrounded by water… she walked up to the helm and explained that this is where we steer the ship and kept a look out for the scarry darkness beasts…
"what is she doing…" Jeff whispered to me looking at Vicki…
"she is showing the students of the academy around the ship…" I smiled and explained to Jeff…
She walked over to slowly over to the helm looking at me as I nodded to her… she smiled and continued that this was the helm of the ship that we steer it and could even alert the crew if there was a lot of bad enemies around…
"I think I have showed you everything now…" she said softly looking around…
"Sister. Why don't you show the class how we do a rail drop?" I smiled at her…
She smiled wide and gestured to the class to follow her again… she walked over to the railing holding her spear… I moved the phone up so they could see part of the open sky below… she smiled to the class and stepped up on the railing holding her spear vertically… she winked at the class and fell slowly backward with a serious face… I moved the phone with her as she dropped more and more backward until she fell down…
I held the phone still in the air pointing at her so the class could see her fall down… I could hear the class gasp as she fell down… Vicki spread her wings and glided majestically true the air and started to fly back up to the ship… she made a circle around the ship before she came back towards me and landed graciously back down at the deck and bowed to them with a smile…
The class started to clap to her… but she made a hush sign to them and winked with a smile… the class stopped and hushed down as she gestured them to follow… we walked back down stairs below deck, and she said that now they could ask her questions if they like as she folded her wings and sat down on the chair smiling at the class…
she got flooded with questions like how it was to fly in the sky and if she was not scared of the darkness… she calmed them down and explained that she was scared at first, but she have been given proper training and have hunted many darkness beasts… she explained that flying in the sky was like floating in water… she explained it like a weightless feeling of freedom… the class was quiet as she went on explaining how it was… I gestured that we needed to hang up soon and she thanked everybody for joining her on the ship tour waving goodbye to everybody as I stood up and walked back to my room…
"well now you had the pleasure of getting a tour of the ship from Valkyrie herself. Any more questions before I have to go?" I asked them…
"when are you arriving back home?" Kelly asked…
"we should be coming home in 5 days if nothing happens…" I explained but got interrupted by the alarm sound…
"sorry but I must go now…" I said hanging up the phone…
I rushed out and hurried up the stairs… when I came up and had walked up to the helm Jeff was pointing forward… there was two massive packs of darkness beast gathering… they looked like they were lining up waiting for something… I gestured to Jeff to come to a halt and we stood there observing the beasts… everybody was quiet and at their stations…
I used my zoom vision to look closer at the beasts… they was indeed lined up towards two separate ways. I walked over to the helm and opened the map and zoomed out… yep. They were facing Terrentil and Embar…
"but how did they get passed us…" Jeff looked down at the map…
There was ocean on one side and a mountain on the other… I looked over and scanned the area with my zoom and tracked the beasts as they gathered… they came from a cave inside the mountain and a hole in the ground… I told Jeff to get everybody ready on both sides, and explained the plan to him… he nodded firmly and walked down informing the crew…
I took control of the ship looking at him as he looked back and nodded to me… I saw the cannons were facing 45 degrees forward in a fixed position. I flew the ship fast towards the middle of the group and descended at high speed… we reached the beginning of the packs I levelled off and stopped the fog spell… the sunlight started to hit the front of the ship and I notice the beasts looked confused towards us…
"FIRE!" I yelled out…
The cannons shot out the first salvo at perfect unison from both sides followed by rapid fire from all the cannons… the roaring explosions erupted from both sides as we flew past them at high speed…
The shots was perfect and landed in the middle of the two packs with the follow up shots that continued to wreak havoc to the two darkness beasts packs… the beasts started to shoot magic spells back at the ship…
I started to fly upwards using the speed we had gained diving down… the entire ship was crackling as the shoots hit the side of the ship, Angel started to feel more slower than usual but she was still flying… the cannons was shooting nonstop at the beast below, and I was also using barrage as I flew around in a big circle…
After a short but intensive fight a couple of beasts retreated back into the mountain. I told Jeff to stay on the ship and continue to watch out for any ambush as I explained that I needed to go down and check that cave…
He nodded ordering Ezra and James to keep a look out on the other side of the ship…
"Team one. Follow me." I said unfolding my wings and jumped over the railing…
Team 1 was Me, Valkyrie, Caleb, Jack, Joseph, and Ben… they followed without hesitation and followed me down to the ground…
When I landed on the ground a little bit away from the cave entrance, I felt the heat and the burning smell from our bombardment… it was not a pleasant smell, but we were used to it… once the other's had landed and spread out in A-shape Formation, I started walking towards the cave… I stopped and stamped on the neck of a beast playing dead… I could see that it was breathing slightly… the other started stabbing the bodies at the ground as we continued to walk…
once we got closer to the cave, I tapped my head and changed my vision infrared… the team changed to protective stance making a U-shape around me as I scanned the cave walking slowly towards it…
I stopped when I saw two darkness beast panic when they noticing that I was looking straight at them hiding in the cave glancing at us… they started to run to the back of the cave… I ran after telling the group to follow…
I just manage to get to the cave entrance when I notice the two beasts jump true a black looking portal and disappeared… I stopped moving and looked at the eerie black oval circle… I changed true every vision that I had scanning the portal… I could see a blurry vision of land on the other side… it was night time, I could see the light of a half-moon in the sky… I saw a lot of darkness beasts on the other side charging towards the portal…
I scanned around on the ground and notice an unnatural white stone on the ground, I could sense it was gathering and using mana to keep the portal open… I used Vine blade and cut the stone in half… the black portal collapsed… I breathed relived out and walked into the cave…
I walked over to the two half of the white stone and checked it out… it was made out of the rare white Mono stone… I picked up one half of the stone and inspected it… it had a complicated spell that would allow 2 stone to link together and open a short portal to the other… I picked up the other half that had the rest of the complicated spell… most of the spell was destroyed when I sliced it in two so I could not get it to work even if I fused the two parts back together…
"was that the strange circle?" Vicki asked…
"yes… let's get back to the ship." I put the two halves in a pouch and sealed it with a protection magic and a hide detection on the pouch.
It was better to be safe than sorry… I had made the spells to just in case something like this would happen, and the protection spell kept the inside locked away and preventing mana to get into the bag. The hide spell kept mana signal to get in or out… it was completely sealed away…
We walked out of the small cave and flew back up to the ship… when we landed safely back onboard, I informed everybody that we have to stay a few days extra and told them that we was going to stay high up in the air concealed in the clouds and fog spell circling this area… I informed them that I had found a portal stone and we have to make sure that there was no more of them…
I saw that they looked a little sad as I informed them, but I told them that we had stopped a surprise attack on Embar and Terrentil and we had to make sure that there would not be any more portals or beasts gathering like that… everybody nodded as I explained why… Jeff walked up smiling a little sad and placed his hand on my shoulder…
"you don't have to explain brother… we all have families or loved ones there…" Jeff said looking at me smiling a little sad…
"I know everybody was looking forward to going home… but we will only be out here for 3 days checking… we know that the beasts usually eat every day and go into a frenzy on the second, so we just need to make sure that we keep scouting and see if they have more portals." I said smiling sad to them…
"it is better to do the job right then slacking off and getting someone hurt." Fredrick said smiling to me…
We smiled and nodded to him and continued our patrol… the 3 days was slow and boring, but everybody did their jobs as we rotated shifts, I had been doing some more maintenance on the hull… the attack had broken more of the mono blocks… I estimated that we could only lose a handful more before we could not stay up in the air anymore… I was sitting at my desk thinking and looking over a new blueprint I had in my hand when it knocked on the door… Jeff came in smiling at me…
"doing?" he asked walking over to me…
"looking over at the ship plan…" I said looking down at the big blueprint…
"that is a big ship…" Jeff said looking at the blueprint…
"yes. But it is faster and stronger than Angel is… I even made gun ports on the underside so we could retract back into the hull and seal it if we need to land on water…" I smiled and pointed at the underside of the blueprint…
"but it looks like the hull is made from metal?" Jeff looked at me confused…
"yes. I have talked to Kelly and she have sent me pictures of an ore that I want to use for the ship…" I showed him the picture of the ore she had sent me…
"that is rutile ore… that is a weak ore that crumble easily. I don't think it would be good on a ship…" Jeff said looking puzzled at me smiling at him…
"just wait and see… I will make a new metal called titanium. And I have made arrangements with Paul and Mark for me to use a large storage down at the dock to make it." I smiled to him.
"yes, about that… it is the third day." Jeff smiled to me…
"any sign of darkness beasts?" I looked up at him…
"no. there have been no sight of darkness beasts for 3 days… I find it creepy…" Jeff said stunned…
"I have warned the two cities that they should raise the security too max in case they attacked from another side…" I said typing a message to Mia, Paul, and Mark stating
"we are coming home Now!" I clicked send and looked up at Jeff…
"that is good and all… but don't you find it strange that for the first time in 3 years we have not been attacked? I find it hard to sleep without hearing the blasts from the explosions." Jeff asked me looking stunned…
"eh… yee I know it feels strange and I must admit I find it hard to sleep at night without the blast myself… but we did discover the enemies portal so I am sure they are being afraid that we might find one, and come true it…" I smirk at him…
"yee… I would love to go true one of those with my swords swinging…" Jeff almost looked like he was about to drool as he looked down smiling…
"ah… of course… that's why I have had this itchy feeling in my body… we are suffering from battle withdrawal." I said looking back at Jeff looking puzzled at me…
"eh… what is that?" he asked…
I explained that when someone is used to doing stuff like a routine… removing it would make you feel on edge like you were missing something like a drug… Jeff listened to me explain the battle withdrawal to him… when I was done, I smiled to him as he looked at me stunned…
"eh… brother… if this is like you say, maybe you should go talk to your sister about it… you know she is worse than both of us when it comes down to go hunting darkness beast…" Jeff looked at me seriously…
"um… can't you do it?" I asked him smiling awkward…
"Heck No! I am not going near her when she is this irritated… she almost bite my head off this morning when I asked for bread…" he explained to me… I sighed and nodded to him…
"um… by the way… how do you turn this off?" he looked blank at me and pointed up over his head…
"eh… yee… I have gotten so used to the Halo's on everybody that forget that we have them… just focus you mind on it and turn off, like the light on an oil lamp…" I said smirking to him…
I looked at him try a little squinting his eyes before his Halo turned slowly off… I giggle to him as I walk out of my room with him following smiling proud…
We walked up to the deck, and I leaned on the railing as I scanned the entire area… animals had come out of hiding and were eating grass, there was no unnormal activity at all… I walked up to helm and checked the map… Ezra who was on helm duty looked confused at me as he stepped to the side…
I linked up with my desk and pulled out a holographic picture of the landscape as I throttled the ship to idle. The small vibration from the overworking blocks stopped and the small humming noise that surrounded the ship disappeared…
It was an eerie sound of quiet… I walked over the different sound and visual filters on the hologram checking every small sound and pinpointing it to regular animals… after I was done making sure no darkness was around, I turned off the map and open the status window for the ship… there was a lot of red signs and warning popping up… and the status of the ship was red… red is the colour when you need to go back to base as soon as possible… I sighed at the sight of the damage that the darkness beasts have done to Angel…
I guess we have no choice now… I opened the new rout that I had plotted called, Emergency Dock. I pressed it and the entire ship started to vibrate and crack as it turned towards Embar… the sounds made Ezra and Jeff look at what I was doing and I glanced over and saw them looking at the screen smiling…
"we are out of time… we need to get home." I said looking forward as the ship engulfed in a grey mist of smoke…
I saw the rest of the crew came up on deck holding weapons and looking around confused before looking up to the helm… I walked over to the railing and taking a deep breath… it smelled like pine trees in the air… forest… nature and fresh air… I breathed heavy out as I slowly open my eyes…
"Angel have reached a critical point… I have selected the emergency return button and even I cannot cancel that command… we are going Home…" I smiled to them looking confused at me…
"what do you mean critical point?" Valkyrie asked…
"Critical… dropping out of the sky if we get shot one more time… Critical like we cannot take a detour like I wanted to… the ship is in full auto mode and even if we get off the ship… it will not stop…" I said looking seriously at them…
"s…so the ship had a function that if you were not onboard, it would not leave the area?" Valkyrie looked stunned at me…
"no…" I said smiling gentle at them looking at me…
"the ship will not fly away if even One of you where off the ship… we don't leave archangels behind… I don't leave Brothers and sister behind… but now that it have been given the command… I must warn you to not fly off the ship unless we are crashing…" I smiled gently looking down on them holding on to the railing…
Everybody looked at me stunned… Vicki was trying to speak but she looked like she could not get the words out… she lowered her head and started walking up helm stairs… she walked straight over to me and hugged me tight…
Before she grabbed me in a tight hug, I manage to notice she had tears in her eyes… stunned I looked over to Jeff who was smiling happy and bitter at me as the ship started to rise up into the sky…
"A…Arch… Archangels to t…the Helm… Emergency Protocol engaged…. Archangels to the Helm… Emergency protocol Engaged…" a robotic voice sounded throughout the ship…
The rest of the group walked up to the helm and stood there looking confused at me… Vicki let go of me wiping a tear away looking confused around…
"it is the auto return protocol…" I smiled a little to them looking stunned at me…
"Commander still alive… counting t…twelve Archangel souls on the helm… is Auto return i…in affect Commander?" the broken robotic voice sounded...
"yes Angel… I am still alive… Take us home." I said smiling at the others looking stunned at me…
"A…Archangels… p…please hold on to the railing…" the broken robotic voice sounded…
Everybody looked stunned at me… I just waved them over to the railing and helped Vicki hold on to the railing as she looked stunned at me…
"hold on tight everyone…" I said looking at everyone grabbing on to the railing…
"C…Commander… system failure in… calculating please wait… system failure in 2 hours… recommend full system trust. Do you a…agree?" The robotic voice sounded out…
"wait…" I said as I pulled out my phone and checked my phone…
I saw Mia had sent me several messages asking how long until we are here…
"Angel… how long until we reach destination?" I asked as I looked down at the phone…
"Calculating… 1 hour and 40 minutes on full trust… unable to C…Calculate on normal trust… can only reach destination on full trust b…before G…Gravity thrusters start to f…fail." The robotic voice of Angel sounded out…
I took my phone out and sent a joint message to Mia, Paul, and Mark… "1 hour and 40 minutes until we are home. May crash at dock so don't be to close!" I pressed send and put my phone back in my pocked…
"okey everyone, hold on… this is going to be a bumpy ride… Angel, do full trust!" I said holding on to the railing…
"A…Affirmative Commander… Full Emergency T…Trust Enabled… S…Safety parameters d…disabled…" Angel's broken voice sounded out…
"3… 2… 1… Engaging." Angel stated counting down as we held on…
The ship started to roar and shake violently… I saw everybody was holding on to the railing… The ship started moving forward… when it reached our normal cruising speed, I saw everyone look at me confused and was not holding on that good to the railing….
"Grab the railing!" I yelled out to them angry…
Everyone took a new grip on the railing and held on like there life was depending on it… Angel started to vibrate more violently before shooting forward at hight speed… I saw the fog that was surrounding us had problems keeping the front part covered as we broke the sound barrier with a Boom surrounding the ship…
The ship calmed down as we flew fast high up in the sky… I stretched out my hand and created a dome shield around us so the wind would not blow intensely at us… I stood up and straightening my cloths and walked over to the helm and checked the status window… Angel was calibrating and cycling every mono block to cool them down to last longer as we were flying…
"that was intense…" Vicki smiled happy at me…
"yee… we are flying faster then anyone have before…" I smirked at her…
"are we going to be able to land?" Jeff said standing up and walked over to me…
"yee… I think so…" I looked down at the helm…
The systems was giving multiple warnings about heat to the mono blocks as Angel was trying to regulate them… the temperature of the blocks was 1287 degrees… 3 more and stone would start to melt…
We had been flying at full speed for 1 hour and 35 minutes… 5 more minutes to go… I hurried back to the railing and sat down with my back towards the front and crossed my arms and grabbed my shoulder… I told the others to do the same… and without questions they sat next to me and did the same thing I did…
Everybody looked nervus but happy… I have turned them into adrenalin junkies haven't I... don't even reply to that… I already know I have…
Angel automatically turned the thrusters to minimal… we started to brake hard… as we slowed down, and we were able to stand up and look forward again… we are home… I see Embar in front of us true the fog surrounding us… I picked up my phone and smirked to my crew as I video called Mia…
"Austin… are you home…" Mia answered the call…
"yes dear… don't you see us flying towards the dock?" I smirked at her…
"n…no there is just clouds, look…" she turned the camera to the back and showed me…
I walked over to the helm smirking at the crew giggling at me… I placed the phone down and disabled the fog as I watched Mia's video…
Angel's bow broke true the skies looking like her front was on fire as she was glowing yellow from the mono blocks overheating…
"I see you… I see you…" Mia said happy as she was jumping up and down on the ground…
"okey. I will talk to you when we land…" I smiled and hung up the phone at Mia smiling happy at me…
"block f…failure imminent… is t…that the landing p…point?" Angel showed a live feed of the dock Mark had built for us… it looked like a dry dock with more frame support…
"yes Angel. That is the landing dock… are we able to land safely?" I asked looking at all the warnings flashing on the screen…
"A…Affirmative… b…but we will not be able to t…take off again." Angel stated and changed course towards the dock…
"okey Archangels… lets make our entrance… Angel start rapid cooling after we land so you don't catch on fire after powering the thrusters down…" I stated to Angel…
She confirmed and I walked to the front of the ship with everybody… we were gliding steady towards the dock… I saw the whole town had gathered to watch us come home… I just smiled to the crew and nodded… they smirked at me and nodded back.
Angel started to pump water out on the blocks to cool them down right before we landed gently on the dock… the steam rose hissing as the blocks started to cool down and I stepped up on the front railing… the others did the same… once the steam cleared and I saw the people look at us stunned, we unfolded our wings and stretched them out proudly before we flew down towards the ground…
