"Would the either of you start explaining what exactly was happening in the hallway?"

Eyes downcast, I stared at my hands that were tightly wounded together. My entire face and neck still felt incredibly hot from the fiasco that had happened a few minutes earlier. I was hyper–aware of a certain someone sitting in the chair next to mine, but I didn't dare let my eyes stray away from my lap.

"Alyssa Dion, please speak up." At the sound of Old Witch's voice, I hesitantly glanced up at her.

The sight of her narrow eyes made my mouth run dry. "Please explain."

"Uh, actually, w–we weren't... uh, I–I didn't—" I cut myself off because I clearly wasn't making any progress.

Jace chose that moment to save me once again. "Uh, ma'am, it was an accident. We weren't–weren't doing anything."

His cheeks turned redder at the last part, and so did mine.
