Calling me mother

"Dad is fine".

He said and we all let out a sigh of relief.

"He is going to be placed under medication and supervision for the next one month and after that, he'll be free to leave. Let's keep hoping that the worst is gone".

We were all so happy and thankful for what he had said. Kay hugged me from the side and because he was almost my height, it felt like I was hugging a male friend persay.

"Jason? Derrick"?

Their father called and they turned to look at him.

"You both will leave for the city first thing tomorrow morning. There is a lot to be done in the company and Kay has to go back to school. Also, I know you need to do some more finalizing for the entertainment company".

He said looking at Derrick when he made the last statement. He then turned back to Jason.

"If it's possible, I'd appreciate it if you left Nadia here for a while. It will be nice for Father to see someone whom he calls family next to him when he wakes up".

Father finally concluded and then, I instinctively turned to look at Jason and he looked at me too.

"Are you okay with that"?

He asked and though I was grateful he asked for my consent, I was still a bit nervous. After a few seconds, I finally spoke again.

"I'd love to be by Grandpa's side. I'll do my best to take good care of him".

I replied and saw Jason's dad nodding, showing his satisfaction with my answer.

"It's settled then, Nadia will take care of Grandpa".

He said looking at Jason and then turned to look at me.

"Don't worry, whatever you need will be provided for you. All you have to do is ask".

I smiled gently and nodded.

Jason could tell that she was kind of scared but he could also tell that she was only doing this because she really wanted to and it made him happy to know that she was willing to care for her family without being persuaded.

Soon enough, everyone went back home because some had to travel early and I had to go back to the hospital first thing in the morning.

Jason was going to be extremely busy so Kay was going to be staying with his grandma, which was Jason's mom.

I was going to be left alone in this big mansion. Though I knew it would get boring and tiring sometimes, I was more than ready to do my best so that Grandpa could get better again.

It was already two days since Jason and everyone else in the family had left and I was currently in the hospital. Grandpa was still not awake but the doctor assured us that his body was only just recuperating and that he would wake up very soon.

I decided to go have a quick lunch when I got a call.

"Hello"?

I said but the person on the other side of the phone did not say anything.

I didn't pay much attention to it and just ended the call. I could not be away from Grandpa for too long so I rushed to fix my lunch and decided to eat in his room.

Melissa looked at her phone in disgust and then flung it on the bed. She was irritated by the voice of that girl called Nadia and she could not hide it. She had gotten her number from Anita's phone.

She was able to copy the number when Anita wasn't looking and she only called now to confirm if it was truly her.

She looked at the phone she had just flung with hatred and irritation.

Just when she was about to angrily dash out of the room, one of her friends called her.

"Hello Melissa, guess who I just saw"?

"You do know how much I hate guessing games".

Melissa said in a rude and nonchalant way. The girl on the other side of the phone is called Phoebe. She has been one of Melissa's minions for years now. She has been following Melissa around since college and Melissa only kept her around because she wasn't totally useless.

Aside from the fact that her parents were also one of the high-class citizens in the country, Phoebe was also a very great gossip. Melissa could get whatever information she needed from her.

"I just saw your mother-in-law. It appears she's back from her trip to Los Angeles".

She said and Melissa tried to figure out what she was ranting for a few seconds and then, she finally got it.

"Where"?

She asked.

"She's in the King's hotel. She's having a cup of coffee... all by herself".

She emphasized on her having a cup of coffee and then the call immediately disconnected.

Phoebe looked at her phone and kept saying hello even though it was so obvious that the call was already disconnected.

"Ughh!! She hung up on me again".

She then placed the phone in front of her mouth and spoke to absolutely nobody.

"You are welcome".

She said and kept her phone on the table.

It didn't take long for Melissa to get to the Kings' hotel and when she got to the restaurant, she immediately sighted Mrs O'Brien and walked towards her.

"Hello, ma'am".

She said making Mrs O'Brien raise her head to see who it was.

"Melissa"?

She asked and Melissa gave her a beautiful yet cunning smile.

"Hi mother, I was scared you might have forgotten about me".

She said and sat down without any permission. Mrs O'Brien didn't think too much about it since they were in a restaurant and it wouldn't be nice for her to remain standing.

"I do not appreciate you calling me mother".

Mrs O'Brien said as she took a bit of her coffee. Melissa looked at her as though she was studying her and smiled.

"Come on mother. You do know how much I love your son and respect you. I just want you to give me the chance to prove myself".

What she said had finally gotten Mrs O'Brien's attention. She dropped her coffee and looked at Melissa.

"And... how do you intend to do that"?
