Footprints

Strange things usually happen uncommonly. Once can be a fling, the second a coincidence, the third...not so much. But for all of it to happen to a group of kids? That is very suspicious indeed. Prologue - Part 3

Even with all the teasing and poking around at each other, the group of teenagers still laugh rambunctiously as they pass around food and drinks while laying out stories of their own. Mike, the storyteller and a known 'otaku-guy' gives his own version of Billy's life, which took them to another level of laughing from loud to holding their stomach and tears coming out their eyes.

It was only when Mike was nearing the climax did Lotus interfere.

"Hey guys, what's taking Hadrian so long?" She asks with worry in her voice.

"Maybe he got a call... I mean he's always busy, what with being the heir of WhiteCorp." Taylor answers nonchalantly.

"I know but he's been gone too long"

This time Tarot answers "Don't worry about it, he can take care of himself. You shouldn't worry too much or you'll get white ha - "

Everyone's head turned their back to the direction of the forest. There was a rustle. And silence. Everyone waited with bathed breath.

Then it stopped.

"Hoo..." Mike sighs loudly. "I thought I was gonna have a heart attack"

The others laughed at him.

They heard a twig snap and they once again turned their head faster that it seemed possible for their neck to almost snap.

"God you freaking scared us man" Mike says.

"You guys looked like you just saw a ghost." The one who came out of the forest was Hadrian White. Walking calmly and confidently shows how he was clearly raised. He sits down beside Mike and looks at each of them in the eye before saying "It's ready."

Taylor looks at her drink before downing it in one go. "Then we better not take too long."

"Okay then, what are we waiting for? Let's do it." Billy says while rubbing his hands together in anticipation.

"Hold your horses, I've got something for you guys." Hadrian reaches into his shirt's pocket, taking out small black earpieces. "It's modified to a larger frequency and made smaller, so you don't have to worry about errors and such the next time we do this." He hands them each one.

Once everyone had put their own earpiece, they went inside the forest. With the trees covering them from the light of the moon, their silhouettes became darker. Everything was silent as they went deeper and deeper inside. Hadrian, the one leading their group stopped in front of a cave barred with a gate made from woods. There was a sign hanging from the top of it with only one screw embedded in it. "Beware the dark that follows."

Before they went inside, Hadrian goes to just beside the outside of the cave. He took out a black bag hidden between the bushes. He puts it in front of them and let it go, making a clang sound as if metals were inside it.

"Okay then..." Hadrian stops and looks at them. "Well, what are you waiting for?"

Billy goes first and opens the bag, revealing metal bats inside it. He takes one and distribute the others along with the flashlights.

"I still don't think this is a good idea." Lotus nervously says while looking at the group.

"We've done this like a hundred times, there's nothing to worry about." Mike reassures her.

"But...what if we get caught?" She retorts

"If you don't want to do it, you can leave. But you should remember that once you leave, you leave this group. Forever." Hadrian says. He waits for her, but she didn't say anything. "Good, if there's anyone here who wants to back out, now's the time."

When no one moved nor said anything, Hadrian turns his back and takes out the woods that blocks them and leads them inside. The walk inside was long and silent filled with nothing but dark, dirty cobwebs and the occasional light from their flashlights. The longer they walked, the more nearer they were to their destination.

They stopped on a wooden door and Hadrian slowly opens it. There was light and....sound.
