Betrayal

Bethany slothfully slithered from her bed and trudged out of her room, heading to the living room, where Clark was seated on the sittee watching the television.

As she drew nearer, Bethany grinned at the handsome man in front of her.

"Oh, Bethany, you're finally awake!" exclaimed Clark.

"Yeah. So, are you going right now?" queried Bethany.

"It's done already. You overslept today. It's 12pm."

Bethany gasped, her eyes popping out of their socket, trying to comprehend what Clark just declared.

" You gotta be kidding me," she chuckled.

" We are now a part of the Flaming Dragon Company."

" Snakes disguised as investors." Bethany convulsed to a laughter full of life and strength.

" Tomorrow,a anniversary party will be held for the company."

" And we will go."

" Are you certain regarding that Bethany?" Clark inquired fixing his slitty eyes on Bethany whose face expressed terror.

" Yeah. Absolutely!"

" Okay then. I'll be with you. Now come here."

Clark held Bethany's right hand, abruptly pulling her towards him.

" You gotta tell me why you overslept."

"Let go of me," said Bethany struggling to pull herself off from Clark's arms.

"No baby. Stop acting so fisty."

Bethany's POV;

The saddest thing about betrayal is that it never comes from your enemies but rather from the people whom have a place in your heart, the ones you blindly trusted.

In life, nothing hurts more than being disappointed by that single person you thought would never hurt you,the one who was always your shoulder to lean on. The one you considered special.

Sometimes, the person who you would take a bullet for, ends up being the gun and the one who stabs you behind your back.

At some point, it's not the person who changes,no, but rather their mask falls off, revealing their true colors.

Right now, I don't cry because they are worth of my tears, but because my delusion of who they were was shuttered by the truth of who they really are.

Above all, I am grateful for having a person such as Clark by my side. A person who loves and cherishes me for who truly loves and cherishes me.

The person who taught me to love again.

When you truly love you don't look for faults. You don't look for mistakes. You don't look for answers. You accept their faults and overlook excuses. The measure of love is when you love without measure. That's the definition of love Clark taught me.

There rare chances that you will meet a person you love and they love you back, that's why I'm swore to never let go of Clark no matter what.

I gleefully lay in his arms as he cuddled me lovingly.

"By the way, I prepared breakfast for but I don't know if you should take it or have lunch now."

He chuckled.

"Stop teasing me, will you?" I asked a little bit pissed off.

"Ok fine. I will stop." He laughed.

**********

The following day, I woke up bright and early, full of anticipation to meet with my preys.

I sashayed to the lavatory and jumped into the jacuzzi, turning on the tap's full blast as I badly needed to calm my nerves; thinking about the Salvadors was already giving me a headache.

Thereafter, I sauntered back to our chamber.

I wearily stood in front of the mirror after preparing myself in disbelief of the new me.

I suddenly saw the flashback of what had happened to me and my beloved parents, two decades ago, and felt fury burning inside me, consuming me from within but I tried my best to control it as anger was not what I required at that time.

Suddenly, there was a knock at the door, and I saw Clark in front of me, holding a bunch of colorful flowers.

Clark's POV;

I stood rooted to the tiled floor, gazing at the lady in front of me.

I examined her from head toe, from her shiny, long black barnet, to her sloe grey eyes, her hooked aquiline nose, plump all round pinkish lips with no gap between them.

Her good glowing skin, long legs, shape like that of an hour glass, round butt, bootylicious breast, so adorable.

"Hey," she snapped bringing me back from my revier.

"Why are you giving me that look? I'm I ugly now?

Remember this was your idea?"

"No you are not. I actually don't find you that different. This is for you by the way,"I verbalized, proffering the bunch of flowers he was holding to me.

She took them in great elan, smiling at the sweet scent that wafted in the air from them.

"You like them?"

"Yeah. I love them. Thankyou."

"Don't mention it. I'm glad I made you smile. So, shall we?"

"Yeah, go ahead, I will put them in a vase and follow."

"As you wish. Don't take too long."

Bethany's POV;

Clark pranced outside, closing the door behind him.

I smelt the flowers again, before putting them in a vase and left outside to the car, where Clark was patiently waiting for me.

I secured myself the front seat beside Clark and we zoomed off.

Silence befell on us like a dead weight, till Clark uttered,"I you don't act emotional when you see them. We still have a chance to go back."

"Wait, are you implying that I am weak or something? Don't you trust me Clark?"

"No, it's nothing of that sort. I'm just worried about. Don't get me wrong.''

" Ok. I'm fine. I can do this.''

"Good. I just hate seeing you suffering and I even if you're trying to hide, you are worried but just keep in mind that I am by your side to protect you. I won't let anyone hurt you babe."

" And I appreciate it. By the way, how is your mom? It's been long since I last saw her . "

" She is fine. I talked to her yesterday and she sent greetings to you. ''

"And you didn't mind telling me? ''

" Sorry. I forgot. "

" Duh! But it's okay. I will give her a call later. "

" You should. She misses you immensely. "

" Clark, thankyou for staying by my side always. I know what we are getting ourselves into won't be simple. Those people are devils. It won't be a piece of cake to bring them down."

" We can do this. Together, we're solid. "

Not long after, Clark took a halt, an clear indication we had arrived.

He gently held my right hand and kissed it assuring me that everything would work out well.

He then got outside and opened the door for me.

"Thankyou," I muttered, staring at the gigantic mansion in front of me, which I once considered as my home.

Going there weighed my heart down as I jogged my memory to my childhood life there, with Rex, Felicity, and my parent's murders.

Clark snapped his fingers bringing me back from my revier.

"Bethany, are okay?" he queried.

" Yes, of course," I boldly vocalized.

"Are you sure?" he asked again looking worried.

"Yeah. You gotta trust me. Now stop being so worried. We should proceed inside."

Clark nodded and we proudly sashayed inside the mansion just like the other guests there.

All of a sudden, memories I had made there came flooding back like a river that had broken it's bank.

I tried hard to hold back my tears but I failed at it.

They were so heavy for me to hold and I could even feel them choking me.

I let go of Clark and diverted my way towards the washroom before anyone could spot me sobbing.

I had lost all forms of composure.

Clark's POV;

Baffled, I was left standing there alone, though I already saw that coming. I knew it wouldn't be easy for Bethany to go back there.

I was about to follow her when Hugo pranced towards me, a huge smile printed on his wide face that I got terrified, thinking he had learnt the truth about us.

"Mr. Salvador, what a great pleasure it is to see you again!" I exclaimed enthusiastically, trying to hide my terror.

Butterflies filled my stomach due to his silence but he then opened up and I heaved a sigh of relief.

" The please is all mine Mr. Charves. Thankyou for accepting my invitation."

He was already getting on my nerves so, I gave an excuse of visiting the washroom, to escape him.

Hardly had I taken two steps forward, when I heard Bethany's voice behind me.

I craned my neck backwards and there was Bethany having a lively talk with Hugo.

"Reece, come here and at least greet Mr. Salvador!" she verbalized.

I first sadly stared at her. I knew behind the brave her in front of me was a suffering soul.

I approached them.

"Well, we already met," I declared.

"Good. Mr. Salvador, Reece here is my brother," she said.

"Wow! What a beautiful sister you got Mr. Charves!" he gleefully exclaimed.

" Thankyou for that wonderful compliment Mr. Salvador, "uttered Bethany.

" It's nothing, "replied Hugo.

I could already notice his seductive looks at my girl, which pissed me off that I felt like punching his face hard.

" By the way Mr. Charves, I think you had mentioned about visiting the washroom, hadn't you? "

" Yes, I had. I actually needed to. but not anymore. Thankyou for your concern anyway. Violet, I'm sure you would want to have a glass of water; shall we? "

" Yes Reece, sure, "uttered Bethany.
