Deal (Not) With God

I was dead, it wasn't unexpected, humans usually don't survive a one on one against a truck, and this was not a normal truck you see, it had this otherworldly feeling to it like it was destined to run me over, it wasn't unexpected to die in those conditions.

But death was not as painful as I expected, there was the pain of course, being run over by a truck is not a peaceful thing, but there was nothing after that.

A white void is what welcomed me when I opened my eyes, nothing in sight, only white as far as the eye could see, which is strange as I don't feel my body.

A quick look showed me that no, I don't have a body.

I am a floating sphere of light glowing softly in this endless void of white, no bigger than a fist if my observations are right.

Then... why am I here?

It makes no sense, why would I, a nobody that was run over by a truck be in this mysterious white void, it can't be what I'm thinking can it?

"Hello, mortal" A majestic voice, like that of a divine ruler, that came from everywhere and nowhere at once stops my thoughts, it sounded bored and monotone.

"You have been selected by me, your God, to become something greater, something that can entertain this boring life of mine" The voice was heard again, not letting me think for long as he spoke without pause.

"For this, you will be receiving a few trinkets, the inheritance of a fallen enemy of mine, and if required you may request assistance once" The voice stopped speaking for a moment as if waiting for my reaction, but before I could say anything he spoke once more.

"Will you accept?"

That was the end of his speech, he spoke no more as I thought about what he said, I had been selected by a so claimed 'God' that wanted entertainment, which was suspicious but what he said later was what alerted me, why would I need those if not for fighting, I am not suicidal and don't want to die again.

"No" Is the only thing I say as a strong oppressive feeling is felt in the white void that I am inhabiting, the feeling disappears suddenly with a loud laugh from the voice of 'God'.

"I hadn't heard a joke like that in ages, I knew that you were the correct choice" The voice this time didn't sound so bored and monotone, having a slight tone of humor in it.

"It is a joke I hope" The voice doesn't sound so humorous this time, but I will stand my ground, no being can force me to do anything I don't want, I am not one to kneel before a 'God', my will is supreme and my mind a fortress of steel.

"No" I answer again, only to pause as the oppressive feeling increases tenfold from before, pining me in place and suffocating me.

"You don't have a choice mortal, I am your God and you only live because I say so, you will accept and you will entertain me" 'God' didn't sound happy now, like he couldn't believe something like this could happen, he is utterly idiotic to believe everyone will listen to his whims.

"I will send you out now" 'God' said as the border of the white void began closing in, I interrupted before I ran out of time.

"Who are you?" I asked, I had a feeling this question is important, 'God' scoffed and the oppressive feeling released slightly.

"I am who I am" I heard no more as the white void closed on me and I fell unconscious.
