Chapter 37: Release

Michael took his hand away and transformed beside me into a very large brown and tan wolf. His wolf rubbed against my leg and I put my hand down to run it through his beautiful coat. He leaned against my hand for only a second then walked forward into the grass. He let out a loud howl that made my wolf want to join in. He was calling the others to join.

I unlocked that cage and pulled my wolf forward ready to release all the pent up energy I had. The change was familiar and fast. This form was what I knew more then my human one. I was comfortable especially without my wolf nagging me like usual. My wolf and I were now one and it was like all my worries in the world ceased. This very moment was all that mattered.

I went to Michael and brushed against him feeling his warmth and power. He pressed back nuzzling my neck. My wolf immediately submitted to him. The energy and dominance I felt from him was intoxicating. I wanted more and more. I wanted to feel his strength as he pulled me close and took me in his arms.

The back door swung open with a bang and Logan ran out. He was pulling off his clothes rapidly. He yelled loudly, "Finally! It's bear time!". I snorted which was the equivalent to a laugh in this form. His words made it seem like he was a super hero or something. Maybe when he took his shirt off a big red S would be painted on his chest. The absurdity made me snort again.

Logan changed into a huge brown bear that matched his human hair color. He ran over to us. I wanted to take off running into the woods but I held steady. He would never hurt me. He came up close and nudged me with his big head huffing. If I was bonded to them I would know what he was asking. Irritation bloomed at not being as close as I wanted to be, but maybe one day. I pushed away that thought fast. I shouldn't stay.

I assumed Logan was checking to make sure I was okay after my reaction at dinner. I licked his nose and he let out a powerful sneeze. He sat back on his fury butt and wiped his nose with a paw. I jumped up on his chest knocking him backwards to the ground. We play wrestled, nipping each other, and rolling around on the ground.

Eric came up in wolf form and snapped at us. His wolf was a sleek dark black. We stopped rolling around and got up from the ground. Logan roared at him and then looked at me with a, that will show him, kind of demeanor. Eric rolled his eyes and walked over to Michael. I could tell they were discussing something through the pack bond.

I looked to the back door and Chase was casually sitting in a chair watching us all. I ran over and brushed against his hand. He petted my fur softly. I could hear his words in my head, "How are you doing?". His tone was on edge and it caught me off guard. I responded back, "I'm doing better. I wish you could join us.". He kept petting my fur and curiosity started to peak inside me. "Wait... Do you have another form?", I asked excitedly. He looked down at me and then stood. "I've never actually tried to change into an animal", he replied with new found curiosity.

I watched as a menacing black smoke emanated from his body. The smoke engulfed him and all I could see were two red eyes peering back at me. The smoke circled around and around until eventually, after a few moments, it started to clear.

A wolf as black as night, that matched the ominous smoke, now stood where Chase once was. It's eyes were as red as blood and it's canines long and protruding. He was scary as hell. A cold chill ran up my spine with what I had just witnessed. How powerful was this man? I was frozen in place, not really believing what I had just witnessed. My wolf senses screamed danger.

Chase sensing my unease trotted over and mentally said, "It's still me Little Wolf. Do not be frightened. I only wanted to make you happy.". His words eased my fright. He was right... I was overreacting... He was still Chase, even if he was the most powerful being I had ever encountered.
