Chapter 5

Nohea and I walked into the school, and I noticed him go as stiff as a board, while his eyes dilated.

"What's wrong?" I ask him slightly concerned.

"My mate is here." He states and we start following his mate's scent. Well, more like he followed the scent and I followed him. We can wait to go to the office for a tour, this is much more important.

We go up a flight of stairs, down a hall and around a corner. Nohea stops dead in his tracks; I look up and see a boy and girl in a heavy make out session. When they come up for air, I see the guy turn his head towards us.

Oh, hell no! This guy is Nohea's mate? He obviously doesn't care about something so precious as a mate. I look to Nohea and see him start backing away, he looks heart broken. When you find your mate, it's supposed to be the happiest moment of your life.

Looking back at the guy down the hall, he's pushing away from the girl, and starts moving towards us. I stand in front of my brother and this guy has the nerve to growl at me!

"Stay away from us!" I shout at him.

"No move out of my way. I want my mate!" he screams back.

'Nohea, up to you. What do you want me to do?'

'Keep him away from me, I need time to think. Plus, we still need to go to the office.'

'Ok, you start heading toward the office, I'll take care of this poor excuse.'

He doesn't respond just walks away. I focus on the guy in front of me. He starts to come closer as he notices my brother leaving.

"Where is he going!?"

"Away from you! I don't know how my brother could have gotten stuck with you as a mate."

Before he responds the girl finally speaks up. "Baby, leave them be. Why don't we go back to the pack house and finish what we started?" She asks seductively, while running her hands over him.

To my surprise he pushes her away, "Julia, go away and stay away from me." Ignoring her, he tries to go around me, but I step into his path.

He may have done the right thing by pushing her away now, but the damage is done. And I don't think Nohea will ever trust him.

"I will tell you one more time. Stay away from us! I don't give a damn if you are his mate, he deserves a lot better, and I will make sure he gets it!"

With that I turn and leave, unfortunately this guy begins following me. Lucky for me, on the way to the office I ran into Lucas.

"Hey what are you doing here?" He asks.

Before I can respond my brothers mate speaks up. "Alpha Lucas?"

Lucas looks behind me, "Beta Ezra." He acknowledges, I look between them.

"Lucas, you know this guy?"

"Yes, he is Alpha Kayden's Beta, from the Crescent Pack. Because of how close the packs are we have to share schools. How did you guys meet?"

"He's Nohea's mate, for now. By the time we start school, I hope to change that." I state looking at the Beta, watching the color drain from his face at my words.

"You can't do this! We were paired for a reason; he belongs by my side!" Ezra yells at me.

"Watch your tone Beta!" Lucas says in a calm voice. "What happened Lani?"

"Nohea caught his scent as soon as we walked in the door. We followed it and found him with his tongue down some slut's throat."

Lucas just shakes his head. "Beta, stay away from my pack. If your mate decides to talk to you he will. Until then don't harass them." Lucas grabs my hand and leads me to the office.

I see Nohea, and he looks like he's trying to hold back tears. I don't even know what I would do if that's the way I met my mate. I just go up and hug him, there are no words that can make this better.

"Let's get our schedules and go." I say, he nods his head, and we go into the office. It only takes a few minutes to get our schedules and locker info. When we come out Lucas is still there.

"I linked a pack member to come pick you guys up and take you to your parents."

"Thank you." Nohea says and turns to leave.

I give Lucas a hug and follow after my brother. The car is already out front, we get in and soon we're with our parents. I think it's good Nohea is staying busy; I'll ask him what he wants to do about his mate tomorrow. He will need some time to think about everything.

We grew up seeing how amazing mates are, that's why we both made the promise to our parents to save ourselves for our mates. We know there is no one else in this world that can make us that happy, that is our other half and completes us in every way. If he decides to give Ezra a chance, or to reject him, I will support his decision. Just as I know he would support me.

It's been 4 hours and we just finished putting everything into storage for after my parents close on the house. We all get in the car and a pack member drives us back to the pack house. We go inside, and I help my mom make us a late lunch.

"What's wrong with Nohea?" Mom asks.

"That's something for him to tell you mom. I'm sorry."

She nods and we put the food on the table for the four of us.

"How was the tour of the school?" Our dad asks.

I look at Nohea and see him trying to hold back tears again, "We didn't do the tour. We got our schedules and locker info then left." I respond, hoping they don't push the subject to much more.

"Why didn't you do the tour?" Mom asks.

I sigh, they won't stop till we tell them. Nohea notices this as well, he gives me a nod letting me know to tell them. "Nohea found his mate – "

"Oh, that's wonderful!" Mom exclaims.

"Let me finish!" I slightly yell. My parents look shocked at my outburst, but they need to realize this is not wonderful in any way! "He found his mate making out with some girl."

Our parents went from shocked to outraged in a mere second.

"What's your mate's name?" Dad asks Nohea.

He shakes his head, "I don't know, I didn't stay to talk to him."

"I know it." We all turn our heads to look at Lucas.
