Chapter 3

Lucas's POV

After Lani went to her room, I walked to the kitchen to get something to eat. I think about our conversation, she is right. I am unhappy with Gia and staying with her has no benefit for me or the pack. The only thing I am doing is giving her false hope for something that will never happen.

Lani truly is an amazing person from the small amount of time I have been able to get to know her. She cares about other people. She is also stunning, and her wolf is beautiful. I feel lucky that she will be a part of my pack.

The more time I spent with Lani, the stronger connection I feel. I know she said she can find her mate soon, which means it'll be her birthday soon. And I'll need to act quickly if I want to achieve my goal. She would make a much better Luna than Gianna.

"Baby! There you are!" Gia came up to me and tried to kiss me, I simply turned my head, so she kissed my cheek. "What's wrong babe?"

"We need to talk Gia."

"Ok… what do you want to talk about?"

I was able to see multiple emotions cross her features, confusion, curiosity, hope and even fear. "Look Gia, I don't think we're working out very well."

"What do you mean? I thought we were doing great. Our parents have even started talking to me about having a mating ceremony for us soon."

"But that's the thing Gia, you aren't my mate."

"Lucas, where is this coming from? Is this because of that new girl Lai or something?"

"Her name is Lani and no it is not because of her. This is between you and me. And I have not been happy with you for a while now. I've just been putting this off."

"Ok, then why are you just now bringing it up?"

"Because I realized I don't want to continue being unhappy."

"And what that Lai girl will make you happy!?" I could hear the anger starting to rise in her voice.

At the way she was talking about Lani a growl escaped from me. For some reason I am feeling possessive of Lani, and don't like how she keeps calling her Lai. "This has nothing to do with Lani! This is about you being a selfish bitch that thinks she can get whatever you want just cuz you were dating me! Well, I'm done with it, and I'm done with you!" I turned on my heal and started walking towards my room, completely forgetting about the food I was making and ignoring Gia.

"You can't do this! I am supposed to be Luna! I will become Luna one way or another do you hear me, Lucas! You cannot get rid of me that easily! You will re—"

I shut my door, the rest of whatever she was going to say completely unheard. I can't believe I'm free from her. I feel like a giant weight has been lifted off my chest and I can finally breathe. And it's mostly thanks to Lani for pushing me to be happy.

I go to my bathroom and do my nightly routine before going to bed. Tomorrow is going to be a difficult day. But if I'm lucky I'll get to spend some more time with Lani. As I start to drift off to sleep Lani is the last thing I think about, how great she is and if I'm lucky and the moon goddess will not show her mate to her until after everything I need is done.

I wake up and start getting ready for school. After I'm dressed, I quickly make it to the kitchen. Thanks to Gia last night I didn't get to eat, and I am starving! I take one of the many plates prepared and start eating.

"Hey Lucas." I glance up to see my Delta, Ethan sitting down. I nod at him, then feel someone slap my shoulder I look to my side to see my Beta, Caleb also sitting down.

"So, what are the bets this time?" I ask them, knowing that's what they have been talking about.

"I'm giving it a week." Ethan states.

"Are you crazy? Bro, that's not enough time. I haven't talked with this chick much but that car ride with her family, they're protective of her. I say a month, max."

I looked at Caleb, my eyebrows drawn together. "A month?" he has never given such a long-time frame. "Come on, have more faith in me than that. Honestly, it can't be that difficult, plus this isn't the first time I've done this."

Caleb rolled his eyes at me. "You've been lucky so far and have gotten to spend some time alone with her, I don't think you'll be getting much more of that."

"Oh, and why do you say that?" I ask.

"Like I said she has a protective family. But I'm keeping my bet at a month. Plus, I said that was the max for the timeline."

"Whatever, you just don't think he can get this girl." Ethan said throwing a piece of bacon at Caleb. "Admit it."

Caleb scowled. "I think he can get her; it'll just be very difficult."

"Ok, well your bets have been placed. Now – "

"Baby, there you are."

I turn and face Gianna with a scowl. Can't this girl take the hint, I don't want to be with her anymore! She was fun in the beginning but then she just became clingy.

"Gia, we talked about this, we're no longer together."

"Oh yea, that. I figured you had a moment of insanity, so I thought we could talk about it again now."

I sighed and looked around, most of the pack was eating getting ready to go to work or school. If she couldn't accept this the easy way, we can do it the hard way. I stood up and then stepped onto the table.

"Can I have everyone's attention!" I gave my pack a few minutes to quite down before continuing. "As everyone knows, Gianna and I have been dating for a while now. I just wanted to let everyone know, last night I dumped her." There was a series of gasps, I looked at her to see the shock and horror on her face. "Thank you." I step down from the table.

I heard Ethan and Caleb both snickering under their breaths, neither one of them really liked Gianna, and turn to her. She had tears streaming down her eyes. "Last night wasn't a moment of insanity, it was a decision that should have been made a long time ago."

She didn't say anything just turned and ran from the room. I sighed and turned back to guys. "I'm going to go check on the Kelekolio's before I go to school. See you guys there.
