ch 46- Still there? 3

Mirik's POV-

I was not bothered much by it as it was just some ranking and I was not even sure if I would take part in the competition. But looking at those excited kids also made me genuinely interested. What rank would I be if I fought?

"How does this ranking works?" I asked Bala.

"It's quite simple. You don't have to win fights consecutively one after another. The more fights you win the higher your rank." Bala explained.

"But then the ranks can be false too. What if someone just fights weak people?" I asked curiously. Bala looked at me and shook his head.

"You really think so? Then you are mistaken brother. Everyone here is strong, there is no place for the weak. And as far as ranking goes they are not the representation of one's power, it is for a completely different purpose." Bala told me.

"The ranking is not for you to brag in front of your classmates. It is for seeding. They get a direct entry into the elimination round of top 32." he added.

I looked towards the two fighting in the arena and how desperate they both were to win. Now I understood why it was a big deal and why everyone was so excited about this ranking. The tournament is a one-day competition so if you got into the top 32 without fighting means that you would be able to fight the players who would come tired after their fights. It truly was a huge advantage. They literally had to just win 5 fights and they would be the champions.

"Where were you? Now you have lost the chance to get the seeding." Bala said with regret.

"I am not entering the tournament anyway," I told him.

"You will...don't worry about father. I'm sure he had a reason back then to stop you from participating but then you have to be in now." Bala said putting his hand on my shoulder.

"How do you know abo-" I was cut off by him in between.

"You have to be there. Don't you want to help in the revenge?" Bala added.

"What do you mean?" I asked confusingly. How would my taking part in this tournament be related to uncle's revenge?

"Look at the rankings." He said without explaining further.

CLASS RANKINGS:-

5. Bala Diman (8 wins)

4. Kiara Diman (10 wins)

3. Singha (12 wins)

2. Givi Shail (17 wins)

1. Arsh Reega (23 wins)

As I read the name of the top ranker my blood started to boil. If hate could be described by words I would write a whole novel on him. He was the one who had orchestrated all of the bad things that had happened to me. If I could exchange my life for killing someone it would be this bastard.

I thought he stopped coming to school after he had attacked me with Garden members and erased my memory with some artifact. He still had the guts to come back, looks like god is on our side,
