From a Different Point of View

The coasts of Los Angeles.

Forward base.

"Unless we manage to take full control of this place, I think the walkers will be attracted to us once again, and believe me, I'm tired of burning corpses," said Alicia weakly, without any relevant emotion on her face.

Seeing that her mother hated the fact that she wasn't weak and instead decided to go out on scavenging missions, she thought about not talking much with her since she was protected as if she were going to disappear.

Nick was in the process of detoxification and training, so he wasn't on the island or at an advanced base. The training was currently taking place on a warship, where soldiers who had enlisted were being trained.

"It's been more than five months, and the world has gone to hell. Now it's a shame we can't trust people outside as much as we used to. These days, we can encounter all kinds of evil people." Dominic was sitting on the building of the military base, which was constantly expanding.

The objective was clear: to control Los Angeles. For that, they needed more than patience due to the large size of the territory. Reclaiming the streets from the walkers was a tedious task, even if helicopters had flown over, taking out the largest hordes of the undead.

The place where they were now was Santa Ana. They had reclaimed all the beaches, and this place was now a point for collecting supplies from the sea.

All the work Dominic was doing wasn't much; he only focused on selecting elite soldiers and giving them long speeches to motivate them. Crimes were sentenced to death, regardless of the offense. If there were no rules, then no one should belong to the new world Dominic was creating.

Perhaps many have changed so much that they can't go back to who they were before. Dominic doesn't demand something like that, but he does want everyone to understand the rules.

Without the rules, they would be the same as the walkers, or even worse.

To ease this, communities have been created on the reclaimed beaches. There, they would be taught survival techniques and how to be silent with the walkers present.

As for whether they adapt or not, those who are with them now are useful, and for those who are not, there's no need to mention them.

"Tobias did well to download all those movies. Thanks to him, thousands of people don't die of boredom during breaks." Alicia was watching a movie on a monitor while they rested.

"More storage in movies of all kinds than you can imagine is crazy." Dominic remembered that Tobias hadn't only downloaded movies and series but also thousands of survival, technical, and work videos that many would need to know ten years later.

Without the internet, there is no data, and that was something Tobias understood very well. He was practically one of those who most understood the needs that Dominic had overlooked.

At that moment, Dominic, who was better than before, heard a silent alarm.

"Are we under attack?"

Dominic stood up, grabbed his rifle, and aimed at the entrance where the soldiers were in their respective watchtowers.

"Look, in that direction."

Alicia, who had observed the horde of walkers approaching, couldn't express her emotions with words, but her eyes revealed fear at the sight.

Dominic looked in the same direction and frowned when he saw the immense number of walkers approaching. Last night, the military had eliminated large numbers of walkers; there shouldn't be many at this moment, but what they were seeing was thousands of walkers, some faster than others.

"Commander, we have a drone in that direction."

Dominic turned his head and soon spotted a drone flying not far from the walkers.

"Damn dogs, someone is attracting the walkers to our base."

"Take down that drone, prepare the spears to eliminate them one by one, and don't forget to attack with the flamethrowers." Dominic immediately understood the situation. Although the distance wasn't close, he could see that the drone had a loudspeaker. It was the sound that attracted the walkers from their surroundings.

Boom! Boom! Boom!

"Prepare yourself." Dominic put on a mask to prevent the smoke from harming him and immediately walked to the front lines, where at least two hundred people were eliminating walkers behind the fences.

Bang! Bang! Bang!

In the distance, several snipers were taking out the walkers climbing the metal fences, so the people below didn't have to worry about the dead crossing the barriers.
