Faulty World

In the year 2222, Earth has become a paradise after humanity was no more. Plant life teem in abandoned and desolate buildings and what used to be the home of people became homes of other creatures. What was extinct in the past, now can be seen everywhere.

That said, humanity still left behind things that are, otherwise, treasures in some way. Even after all these years, some technology that mankind has made still worked to this day. AI robots can be seen wondering around aimlessly and cars would sometimes start on their own.

In a robotics lab, somewhere in the Philippines, there is a robot there that still remembers the history of the planet. All memories intact... Horrifying moments and tragedies from before humanity was extinguished, would sometimes play on its mind. The robot's screams are that of pain, anguish, sorrow, and a hint of pity.

"December 25, 2210, Humanity is celebrating a holiday known as Christmas. On that same date, mankind began waging war with each other. Joyful laughter replaced with horrified wailing... ungh.... AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!! AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!! Stop it... no more..."

"February 14, 2218, Humanity should be celebrating Valentine's Day, but love is no more. On this day, humanity lost half of its population due to hate. No happy couple and family... only...corpses... ungh....it hurts..."

"November 1, 2220, it's Halloween. There are no costumed children to give candies to. I am a robot. I cannot eat them. Dr. Noel and Dr. Verena gave me one final order...stay here. Recording all history...recording all history... recording all history..."

"January 1, 2222. I have finished recording all Humanity's history. Dr. Noel and Dr. Verena never returned. I am...alone?"

These things play on the robot's mind on loop. These are all recordings of the past, a haunting past of Humanity's hunger for world domination. Happiness turned to sadness, laughter turned into hellish screams, but all those were all drowned in the sea of flames.

After the war has ended, there are only, but a handful of humans left on earth. The final nail in the coffin was hunger and disease. During this time, it is Dr. Noel and Dr. Verena who were helping people, but to no avail. Nonetheless, they didn't gave up hope against all hopeless odds...until they can't anymore. The two were the last humans on earth.

Come year 2222, the robot has finished its recording of human history. However, due to the final order given by its creator, it did not leave the facility it's in. One day, the robot felt something. A warmth of touch, something that it longs for a very long time. A voice was then heard across the room.

"I want you to leave this place. See the world. The aftermath of death and destruction."

The robot refused, because of its order.

"...aren't you curious?"

The robot moves its head to say no. However, it suddenly stops to think.

"Come. Go outside, little one. The world awaits for you."

The robot is finally convinced. The robot moves its body after all these years. It shrugs off accumulated dirt and dust and starts walking. The robot is shocked to see the world before it. Outside its room, all sorts of plants now live along the corridors of the lab.

"We are almost there! Come!"

After walking out the door, what awaits outside is a very beautiful world of lush greens. The robot felt like the war never existed. It is so peaceful outside. Birds are singing and horses galloping.

"Let's walk around!"

The robot agrees and start to roam the streets filled with greens. The robot examines each its surroundings and points out that there are plants that wasn't in its database.

"These new plants didn't exist back then because of foul air."

The robot examines its surroundings more and points out animals that went extinct that are now roaming around.

"Miraculous, isn't it? But pity humanity is not around anymore...perhaps it's better this way."

The robot then thinks about Dr. Noel and Dr. Verena.

"Do you miss them? I heard they were the last humans who perished. Those two helped humanity and held unto hope for as long as they can, until their deaths. Very honourable, I should say. Why don't we build a tomb for them?"

The robot then nods and made a simple tomb to honor them. They then proceed to go further into the city.
