Fate/Branched Fate

While the Magus Killer was something of a boogey man to mages, there was an equivalent. Someone who could do the deed without leaving a trace, a ghost.

Chapter 2

Morgan...

"Morgan!?"

My whole body jolted up as I reflexively coursed electrical mana through my body with reinforcement. For the first time, I had used attribute reinforcement to run away from a woman in bed.

Her eyes peeped open "Morning... Master." The master bit was said with quite a bit of reluctance and a little disappointment. "What in the world Morgan? I told you you could use the guest room."

She sat up before giving me a long stare "It was much more comfortable in your bed. The bed in the guest room was quite small and I dislike spirit form. Hence I came, hoping you'd accept being my husband and I must say you use magecraft quite well for mundane purposes. Though your body heat was quite comforting."

...

"Thank you for calling me Master. No romantic relationships."

Speechless, I have no idea what had happened but she seems to have mellowed out a bit through one night.

It was dark, perhaps it was just as dark as the void. The memories were a blur... I could vaguely see. Flashes of darkness were all I could see. Vicious lashings by his own parents, a younger brother that gained the favour of his bastard parents. Then when he grew older drugs were seized in the house. The blame was pinned on him.

It was then, within the darkness of the soul, a trigger was set. A spark of electricity within the darkness, a flash of pure blue unbridled electricity. Once again when he was older, he was betrayed once again during his younger days as an executor for hire.

His teammates left him for dead as they retreated from a mission after most of their squad was wiped out. An injured leg and a large gash wound on his side. The rain and wind ravished him dearly... He crawled and crawled, nothing but using his unique reinforcement to jolt his muscles into crawling even when out of energy.

His magical energy was the fuel that sustained him... The dream pulsed with darkness before the light of day pierced through the veil.

I guess an introductions is necessary, from me of course "Tadashi Daiki, otherwise known as my alias in my work, Ghost."

Morgan hummed while not seeming to pay attention. "I'll need you to put surveillance and identify as many masters as you can. I'll get my gear ready."

I stared at the spacial isolation sequence for a bounded field. A worthy trade off, in return for the opponent to obviously recognise the bounded field, I traded it's subtlety for a quicker activation.

All I require is to expand the sequence into a instant bounded field, trading off for the stealthy bit of the bounded field. Kinda likea two minute noodle, but bounded field.

Spacial Isolation was the only imbuement in the sequence. A spacial isolation sequence to cut the opponent from the outside and prevent damages.

Morgan had long finished creating her territory, all that was left was to eliminate all the masters or servants quickly. Maybe then I'll go to the Clocktower after or maybe just start a small business.

Black keys? Check. Inazuma? Storage, Check. Combat knife? Check. Baretta M9? Check.

Everything was in place and ready.

First up, get rid of the biggest variables in the war, Kariya Matou and Berserker. Reason being? Motive, currently unknown. Berserker is known for madness and the hardest servant to control, has a noble phantasm that conceals identity.

When it comes to combat, everything must be done logically and rationally with information to calculate the best approach.

Kariya Matou would have to go first. A cornered rat is one that fights the cat. The sun disappeared along the views of the mountain as the sky was enveloped by a blanket of darkness.

"Time to go Morgan. I want no loose ends. Both Master and Servant have to go. The master could potentially make it back as a Master by taking another's contract. Masters have to go.

Morgan finished a searching spell as we located the Matou master. I'll take the master and you take berserker. It shouldn't take long.

"Now!"

Morgan teleported both her and Berserker somewhere else to fight while Matou immediately sprung up blade worms. This fight also made for a good test for my spacial isolation field. A snap of my fingers as the magical sequence expanded in an instant making a giant field around the block.

Space had been separated from the real world. Although this isn't a reality marble, all it does it take a snapshot of the original space from before and match it after all the damage is done. Like swiping a single jellybean from a whole pile of jellybeans before putting it back with an exact same jellybean. Although swiping it from Gaia I should say takes much more research, although it makes it easy to do after research has been done.

The blade worms were faster than I expected. The Shroud of Dismas was not armour or anything so caution was needed. A snap of my fingers as arcs of blue lightning fired off into the swarm as they fizzled out and died cracks of wood and splinter flew everywhere worms where everywhere. A few more arcs of lightning acted as a net like a fly swatter. The chaos died out as I prodded one of the bugs. Matou had long ran, although that shouldn't be a problem.

I pointed my Baretta down outside the window just before the front door. The steps within the house became more and more light and distant.

"Now."

A series of bullets were fired as they penetrated straight through Matou's skull leaving a bloody splatter.

My magical energy was still slightly drained from the upkeep of the spacial isolation and a few lightning spells. Nothing much yet. A fire was lit as Matou's body started burning away leaving only a few ashes behind.

The bounded field cracked as it's job had been done. The broken areas had been restored as if nothing had happened, perhaps only a small change, a pile of dust that had long blew away.

"Worked like a charm."

"Master... Why did you send me against a brute?"

I didn't even need to glance to know she was behind me. "Servants against servants remember?"

"Let's head back and plan for the next target." I stare at the list, "Kayneth El-Melloi Archibald, unlucky fella."
