[WP] Chapter 35 Sage-level Relic [God's Gift Box]
"Power? You are too weak. The power I have is not suitable for you."
This once again shows the opponent's strength, which Shade is convinced of.
The woman paused for a moment before continuing to speak, as if she were thinking. The temperature in the room has returned to the same level as the corridor, indicating that the other party's mood has also returned to normal.
"But I happen to have a good [relic] in my hand, but its value is far less than that of the statue of the old god. No, it's not the [Dark Box], that's just a poet-level (level 5) toy. I'll give you a clerical-level (level 4) relic and tell you the secret of [Mercury Blood] to help you avoid danger in exchange for the address and spell. How about that?"
"No problem; thank you for your generosity, ma'am."
Because it doesn't cost money to say nice things, Shade is happy to use the "Northern Common Language Gift Pack" in his mind to translate accents to praise the other party.
But this time, Shade did not take the initiative to say the content of the spell. The woman inside the door certainly knew what he meant:
"Recently, a sage-level [relic] appeared in Tobesk City."
The first sentence was a bit surprising. He thought the woman was going to talk about the keeper-level relic [the forged sage stone] related to [mercury blood]. Shade had seen the academy bounty order from the doctor.
But fortunately, it was only sage-level (level 2), not angel-level (level 1). But thinking about it carefully, it was unlikely that he would suddenly encounter an angel-level relic. After all, Shade still had some confidence in his luck.
The woman in his heart laughed again.
"This is not a secret. At least the church and the academy know about it, as well as other guys who have spies in the local area. The sage relic is the [God's Gift Box], a tool used by an old god who possesses the power of creation."
The woman behind the door said in a teasing tone:
"The one who currently holds this sage-level relic is Mercury Blood, and they are classified as an illegal organization.
For some reason, Mercury Blood cannot move this relic for the time being, so the [God's Gift Box] is still in Tobesk City. The power of the relic is very strong. Every ring wizard who touches the box for the first time will automatically know a synthesis formula. By putting specific relics into the box in a specific order, a more powerful relic that is suitable for oneself can be synthesized. Detective, do you understand?"
"I probably understand."
Shade carefully memorized this information. This was the first information about the [Sage-level] relic he had come into contact with.
"This is somewhat similar to the synthesis in alchemy, but the side effect of the sage-level relic, Mercury Blood, the 'Silver Eyed', seems to think that he can master the synthesis method of the angel-level (level 1) relic [Mercury Blood] through that box."
The woman was laughing, but that laughter was far less pleasant than the laughter in Shade's mind at the moment.
"The Silver Eyes attempted to use this sage-level relic that could not be taken away to synthesize the real Mercury Blood. This was also the original intention of the establishment of the Mercury Blood organization, to pursue a relic that might not exist. Therefore, this group of people came to this city with some messy things, including the statue. It is said that there are several very good relics, but unfortunately, I only want this statue at the moment."
"So what do you think of that sage-level relic, the God's Gift Box?"
Shad hesitated. He doubted whether the academy that knew about this matter would tell the truth to the ring wizards in the area if what the woman said was true.
If it was said truthfully, then the bounty order seemed to be a bit evasive. Therefore, the academy bounty order he saw at the doctor's place was probably for the real purpose of "looking for the traces of the Mercury Blood organization," and the forged Philosopher's Stone was just a by-product.
The academy currently does not intend to share this information with the correspondence ring wizards.
"I am not interested in that item at all. I know what the box is, so I will never touch it. It only appeared in the autumn of the fifth era (1068). It is very old and powerful. If I were you, I would hide the [blood of Mercury] in this foggy steam city in the next few months. Those people are almost crazy now."
"Okay, ma'am, thank you for your information. This is the spell."
It took a few seconds to remember the woman's words word for word, and then he took the initiative to say the six-syllable spell. After saying it, he added that this was due to the effect of his core spirit rune.
But the woman didn't seem to care about this sentence, just like she didn't care why Shade could easily let the [Dark Box] go out of control.
"Very good, detective; I admire people like you. This is a very good commission. Then, please keep this [relic]."
The sound of a drawer being pulled came from behind the door, followed by footsteps. But when the door was finally pushed open, only a young maid came out. She looked to be in her twenties, wearing a very classic thick black and white maid uniform.
Her long black hair was netted with a white hair ornament. Because she didn't work in the kitchen, there was no apron outside the maid's long skirt, as Shade imagined.
This was not the lady Shade was talking to. The outline of the lady behind the door was depicted in gold in the darkness just now, which was very different from the black-haired maid.
After the maid opened the door in the corner of the bookshelf, she immediately restored the door to a half-closed state, not allowing Shade to see the "noble lady" inside the door. Then, she came to Shade with a small square box in her hands, which was wrapped in red velvet. She held it in one hand, opened it with a click, and showed Shade the ring embedded in the lining.
A faint smell of blood was detected, but neither the naked eye nor the [Blood Echo] could see that the ring itself was stained with blood.
The texture of the ring seemed to be pure silver, and the ring face was yellow amber wrapped with an unknown insect. The insect looked like an ordinary flying mosquito, but it was blood-colored all over as if it could come back to life from the amber in the next second.
[You have touched the 'Whisper'.]
"A clerical-level relic [blood-sucking ring], when worn in an injured state and direct contact with the skin of any humanoid creature, you can absorb the other's blood to heal yourself.
It cannot cure diseases and curses, but it can alleviate them. However, if the injury to be healed is too severe, it may cause the blood of the person being touched to be drained in an instant. But don't use the ring as a means of attack, even if you are willing to hurt yourself. This is a clerical-level relic. Frequent use of the ring's ability to heal yourself will cause symptoms similar to blood thirst."
This is the woman inside the door explaining; that she did not hide. Concealing the situation about this relic:
"Don't wear it if you are not injured; at least don't wear it for a long time; otherwise, I can't guarantee what will happen. Of course, even if it is not because of the side effects of the relic, it is best not to wear it easily because this is also taken from [Mercury Blood]. They don't know who took it, so... You should be so cautious."
Shade didn't know whether he should complain about the contradiction between the other party and [Mercury Blood] or think about the relationship between [Mercury Blood] collecting so many extraordinary items related to [Blood] and the synthesis formula.
Note: Clerical level and document level terms are used for level 4 [relics].
