As soon as Ian stepped out of his office, he patted his cheeks to calm himself down. Even if he wanted to deny it, he was certain he had felt something when he had thought about Valerie. But he could not make out what it was.
Ian found the woman attractive. There was no doubt about that. Her independence, control over the situation and bravery impressed him greatly. However, it was her will to put her friends first before herself when in danger that had made him appreciate her completely. But it was only limited to that. There were no other feelings for her in his heart.
Ian took a deep breath and shook his head. "Ian, there is no space for love in your life. Get this embedded in your heart and mind." He clenched his fists and shook his head before he started walking. Although his shift was over, he decided to take a look around once before leaving.
