You Can Ask Too...

What happened next startled both Kriff and Bil.

Kriff lifted his head and stared at Bil, blinking in utter confusion. "... The conqueror was the one to give the order? But… that shouldn't be true."

"Why do you say that?" asked Bil. "What have you managed to learn that the rest of the public doesn't know?"

"Well, my father's dying words to the medic were, 'We chose to charge and disobeyed orders. It's only right for us to perish for insubordination'..." Kriff admitted, feeling a sense of hollowness spread through his chest. "According to others in the medic tents, every regiment member receiving treatment shouted about insubordination and dying a traitor's death, all with beaming smiles as most of them passed away…"

Fzzzhh…

Startling Kriff, a thin tuft of smoke wafted out from behind Bil's mask. The smell of burnt cloth lightly spread through the air. "... Sorry. Continue."
