Back to the Wall

Glancing back, Nelphy watched as the cut-off, outnumbered Briston troops were mowed down.

"It's time to retreat to the wall," Zac stated, seeing how distracted Nelphy was.

She sighed, "... What about Boarril?"

"Briston will occupy it. Or at least a part of it. But I would rather surrender some buildings than more lives." Zac said, "And I doubt they'll burn or destroy the place. That's one reason I made that declaration, to make sure the fewest civilians were harmed and to make it easier to predict Briston's actions."

A bit relieved, Nelphy glanced at the pub in the distance one last time before leaving it behind and rushing to the city wall.

The rest of the Frantoch forces were resuming their retreat as well. With the Briston troops on that side of the wall practically annihilated, the additional cover of the masked mercenaries gave the others a safe path back to the walls.

Crack! Crack!
