Chapter Fourteen - Breakfast

Kasalukuyan akong naglalagay ng mga kubyertos sa lamesa nang lumabas si Warren na suot na ang damit niya. The white dress shirt fits him perfectly while it was rolled up to his elbows. Marahan niyang minamasahe ang basang buhok niya gamit yung tuwalya.

"Have a seat." I offered and he pulled a chair. Kinuha ko mula sa kaniya yung basang tuwalya at kaagad ko namang nilagay 'yun sa washing machine. Nagsalin ako ng kape sa tasa niya at nilagyan ko na rin ng sinangag ang plato niya. This is the least I could do pagkatapos ng ginawa ko sa kaniya kagabi.

Umikot na ako at umpo sa harap niya. Hinawakan na niya ang kutsara at tinidor pero nakatingin pa rin siya sa baba.

"Warren." I called him.

"Hmm?" He straightened up and looked at me. His face is red as tomato.

"What's wrong? Was the water too hot? Or are you not feeling well?" I tried to sound concern but deep down, I know he's just shy as me right now!

He shook his head and shrugged. "I don't know. What's happening right now feels like a dream."

i rolled my eyes silently. "Well, you better start drinking your coffee para magising ka na."

He giggled and raked his wet hair. I started slicing my bacon before he caught me staring at him.

"Dana."

"Hmm?"

"Was it true?"

"What do you mean?" My brows arched.

"That text that you sent me. You said you were sick and dying." His eyes widened and there's a hint of sadness in his tone.

I stopped biting the hotdog. Crap! I forgot about that drunk alibi!

'Warren, I'm sick and actually dying. I don't want to die with regrets so can you come see me now? I'll text you the address once you call me.'

That was the text! Did he really believe that?

"It was a lie." I nonchalantly said. Well, there's no point in lying now that we've clear some issues earlier.

Napabuntong-hinga siya at huminto sa pagkain. Pinulupot niya ang mga braso niya at tiningnan ako ng matalim. Uminom muna ako ng juice bago pa ako mabilaukan.

"Do you know how worried I was when I read that?!" Singhal niya na kinagulat ko. Ni kailanman hindi ko siya narinig na pinagtaasan ako ng boses.

"Excuse me?" Singhal ko pabalik. "If you called me back and answered my calls o kahit nag reply ka man lang ni kahit tudlok e di sana hindi ako nagdahilan ng ganun! O tingnan mo, nakipagkita ka rin sa 'kin!"

"Dana.." He paused. "It wasn't like that. I was away for business. Hindi kaba sinabihan ng secretary ko?"

"No." I shook my head. "Even Dad didn't tell me where you are or kung saang lupalop kita hanapin. Like I said, I was banned from entering the company."

He looked furious and slammed his fist against the table. "Damn that Kaito! Look, Dana. I'm sorry if it turned out like that. I didn't have my phone with me because of security purposes."

"It's fine. Kumain kana." Tipid na sabi ko. I don't need his explanation anymore. However, it still a mystery as to why he knows my place. Maybe, he already knew before coming to see me? Or Mom told him.

"You're not mad at me?"

I pressed my lips and shook my head. I was actually mad to the bones where I even planned on killing him! Ayoko lang na humaba pa ang usapan namin at magtalo pa sa harap ng hapag-kainan.

"Are you sure?"

"Warren." Pagbabanta ko. Kung kukulitin pa talaga ako neto, talagang palalabasan ko na siya!

"S-sorry. I'm going to eat now." He forced a laugh. "Wow, this is good!" Sumubo siya ng sinangag at nag thumbs up.

I took a sip of my juice and hid my smile as I watched him eating happily.
