Fading Horizons

In a world ravaged by a mysterious, natural disaster, clouds pass over the Earth, transforming everything they touch into a bleak, black-and-white wasteland. Anyone caught in this monochrome zone vanishes, disintegrating into bluish-silver dust. Humanity becomes chaotic as the sky darkens and the clouds approach without warning. Amidst this disaster, a young girl must fight to survive and protect her loved ones. Racing against time, she struggles to outrun the clouds and keep her family and friends from disappearing into nothingness. With every passing moment, the world around her becomes less recognizable, and the only certainty is the ever-present threat of the vanishing point.

Everyone's lost it

Layla tried to inform Alex that he may hit some people on his way to the house with his speed. Surprisingly, he hit no one Layla was shocked; she then realised there was some sort of force field that protected the car from hitting people instead of the car hitting others. The force field was about 5 m away from the car; the car is protected from people starting from 5 m away, so Alex was squashing, hitting, or shoving people out of the way. Layla came up with this conclusion but did not tell Alex.

She decided to check how Alex's face looked, maybe to see a look of pity or sympathy, but she saw he just looked irritated, like a fly was bothering him. Layla was shocked that Alex had become so cold towards others. She then asked Alex, "What's with the force field thingie?" "Well, this is a new model I am testing out." She reasoned it and noticed that the car was red, and Alex usually only drives cars that are either black or white. She said okay and retreated.

Lost in her thoughts, Layla did not realise that they were already at her house. Alex nudges Layla's shoulder; she looks at the surroundings and quickly runs towards the door. Alex leaves the forcefield shield on the car and follows Layla in.

The house looks a bit odd; I mean, isn't your mom supposed to be at home or something? said Alex to Layla as they were already in the house. Layla shouts anybody home; Mum!, Mum! She then hears humming in Christine's room. She runs towards the room, crying, Mum. She then realised something was wrong.

She barges into the room to find Christine by the window. She was hugging her legs to herself in some sort of crouched-up position and humming a song while looking out of the window. Christine, where's mom? asked Layla, I thought you went out with Dad. Christine ignored Layla and continued to hum her song while looking outside.

Layla lost it and shouted at Christine, "Christine, I am talking to you; speak!"
