Calming down, Leo walked up to the man, or what remained of him, having seen a small object.
When he got closer, he saw the object clearly. Bending down, he picked it up and observed it.
The object was a palm sized badge with a hexagonal shape. It had a weird texture, feeling more like human skin than the metallic texture its appearance suggested, and was golden in colour with purple finishing on its edges.
On the front part of the badge was engraved a small '3'. Leo turned it over, and saw a name glowing in purple light. He subconsciously muttered it.
"Scythe..."
The instant the name left his lips, the badge turned to ashes!
Leo was left with his mouth slightly opened, shocked.
...
In an unknown location, a figure stood on air.
The purple light that overflowed from his eyes complimented his gigantic physique, measuring more than 150 meters in height.
He turned towards a certain location suddenly, revealing his inhuman features, and a ferocious smile appeared on his face.
`It's seems one of the seeds has been erased. Might as well.`
Turning to his surroundings, he broke out in frantic laughter. Deafening roars followed his laughter, as his surroundings came into view.
Millions of monsters covered the earth and skies.
Thick purple Diavolos Essence enveloped the area. The figure laughed once again.
`Rise and shine, little ones...`
...
Leo walked into his room, throwing the badge to the back of his mind.
He had no idea about the consequences of what just happened.
Suddenly, he saw a shadow inside the room, from beneath the door. He was slightly surprised.
'Is it Cecile? I thought she might have left by now.'
Not thinking much about it, he opened the door. However, when he saw who was in the room, he was dumbstruck.
A grey haired man stood there, looking out the window. His posture seemed as if he was in ownership of the very land he stood upon.
The invisible aura that oozed out of him reekd of death, seeming to disdain the existence of all things.
His lustrous grey-white hair, completed his pristine robe that was full of cryptic patterns.
While Leo stood there in confusion of his identity, the man turned around and fixed his gaze on him.
Their eyes met.
In those pitch black eyes, Leo could see the extinction of countless souls...
He saw the cycle of reincarnation...
He saw a majestic figure with unfathomable power...
Breaking out of his trance, Leo's back was drenched in cold sweat.
`You're the one who killed him.`
The man asked casually, stating a fact rather than asking a question.
Leo instinctively knew who the man was talking about, and he didn't try to deny it.
"Yes... Are you here for revenge?"
Leo affirmed, gathering his power.
That was the interesting thing about Leo. He didn't back down, no matter the challenge.
`Forgive my manners, mortal...`
The man said with a slight smile, the politeness of his words being broken with the word 'mortal'.
But strangely, Leo did not feel that he was intentionally being arrogant.
`Let me officially introduce myself. You can call me Lifeless. Or, as you mortals refer to me, GodKing of Death and the Underworld.`
Silence.
Leo's expression turned grave as he realized the caliber of this unexpected visitor.
But that was it.
He did not feel fear, just pure caution.
`Interesting. Even after knowing my identity, you aren't filled with fear or awe, just caution.`
Lifeless said amused. He continued,
`I know you aren't a Warlock.`
Leo's expression turned even worse, but Lifeless waved his hand in the next second, showing goodwill.
`Relax. I'm not your enemy. Even though you are not a Warlock, your hatred for the Devil's is real. And I merely seek a way to break the stalemate... I see that in you.`
He pointed at the seats in the room, as if he was on his own property. `Sit.`
Leo sat silently, while Lifeless sat directly opposite him.
`Ask away. But I will answer only one.`
Lifeless said, sensing the numerous questions that filled the young man's mind.
Leo opened his mind, countless questions at the tip of his tounge, as he recognized the wealth of knowledge the entity before him had access to.
But in the end, he settled on just one.
"What exactly are the Devils and Aberrations?"
`The Devils...`
Lifeless's gaze turned distant.
` The Aberrations are merely the lowest level force of the Devils , similar to cannon fodder...
` The Devils are a very mysterious race. According to our knowledge, they emerged from a world with very harsh condition, but they have grown to the hegemon they are today...
` The Devil race is a group of aggressive invaders that travel the cosmos in search of worlds that contain life, plundering their source energy and corrupting their surviving inhabitants into Aberrations, as they have already done with dozens of worlds already...
` The Aberrations that the Devil Race has at its disposal number in the billions. Above them are the Devils, which number less than a hundred thousand.
` The Devils are easily recognizable, being humanoid, and are not less intelligent than mortal humans. They possess a certain biological mechanism called Devil Marks, which enable them to wield pure Diavolos Essence. Ordinary Devils have between three and five Devil Marks, and are comparable to Divine Warlocks.
` The reason Divine Warlocks are hardly seen is because they combat the Devils deeper into the Ancient Battlefield.`
Leo nodded, having had his guesses before this. The explanation continued,
` The more powerful Devil's are called Devil Lords, which number less than three thousand. They generally have between fifteen and thirty Devil Marks, and the stronger ones among them can stand against Minor Gods. Just so you know, the weakest Devil Lord is at least twice as powerful as you are.
``After the Devil Lords come the Devil King. They have an exact number, being exactly seventy-two, and have between seventy and a hundred Devil Marks. The three strongest among them can contend even against the GodKing of Lightning when joining hands.
``And then, there is the Devil Emperor... ``
Lifeless's expression turned grim as he talked about this terrifying existence.
` We don't know the exact number of his Devil Marks, only that it is in the thousands. To understand his power, know this; the five GodKings were once seven!`
