Chapter 27: I'm Glad I Was Here

“Get out,” Leena said, surprising herself. Her heart was racing now, and the hairs on her arm were standing rigid.

“You can’t make me leave,” Brian seethed. “You’re my fiance. What’s mine is yours, remember?”

“No!” Leena yelled. She clasped her hands tightly and closed her eyes. The situation would only get worse if she got angry too. She needed to keep a level head. “No,” she repeated firmly. “I’m not. Not anymore.”

Brian took a step toward her, but Leena put her hand up and stepped back. She didn’t have anywhere to go, her back to the couch, which was right in front of the big bay window, and him standing before her.

“Don’t come any closer. I’m not going to talk to you when you’re like this,” she said. “I know what I said came as a shock, but I won’t let you–”

“Why are you doing this?” Brian asked. His volume had decreased, but his tone was still edgy and rough. “What did I do to deserve this?”
