A Curfew?!

February 19, 2019.

His minions are almost as bad as him.

Or maybe worse?

They robbed an entire bank in under 15 minutes!

What are they, money magnets?

Killing them is sure gonna be a hassle...

The car ride to his base was cloaked in an eerie stillness, a pregnant silence that seemed to seep into every nook and cranny of the vehicle. The air hung heavy with an electric anticipation, as if the very atmosphere itself held its breath, anxious and apprehensive about the past event.

Through the tightly closed windows, the world outside appeared frozen in time. Moonlight spilled through the thick canopy of trees, casting ethereal beams that streaked across the asphalt, illuminating scattered leaves caught in an eternal dance. The road itself seemed to stretch out endlessly, disappearing into the blackness of the night, a path shrouded in mystery and trepidation.

Haven's eyes got fixated on her interlocked fingers, which soon disentangled, her eyes unfocused as her fingers traveled to her wrists and pinched her skin softly. Her brows furrowed as she glanced sideways and saw him flinch, shifting in his seat as his sight remained fixed on the road.

[Take.]

The sharp intake of air was inaudible yet didn't go amiss by her senses. The sudden appearance of the voice had not only startled her but the change in his demeanor proved that he had noticed it too.

Haven frowned and once again reached for her skin, twisting it between her fingers a little harder this time, her eyes locked onto his figure which remained as stiff as a statue. Almost as if he knew she was watching her up close.

The second she pinched herself, her eyes darted to his hands which tightened on the steering wheel, his jaw clenching hard as he turned and stared at her darkly. Haven held her breath, her lungs beginning to give in due to the lack of oxygen.

"What are you doing?" his voice was hoarse and she looked away forcefully, feeling half her remaining energy drain at the sheer effort she was exerting to stay away from him.

But her theory had somehow worked.

Wei could somehow feel whatever she felt.

He could hear that voice.

Why?

She had no clue.

A flicker of doubt still lingered at the back of her head and she knew she needed more evidence to prove her theory. Not to convince him or anybody else, but to convince herself.

If she was going mad, then she couldn't go mad alone.

Soon a modern and captivatingly beautiful mansion appeared in her sight. Its sleek and angular architecture stood as a testament to contemporary design, with floor-to-ceiling glass windows reflecting the silver rays of the Moon. The exterior was adorned with elegant panels of polished steel, creating a striking contrast against the lush green surroundings. The immaculately landscaped gardens showcased vibrant bursts of color, with meticulously arranged flower beds and perfectly manicured hedges leading up to the grand entrance. Majestic palm trees swayed gently in the breeze, lending an air of tranquility to the scene.

As the car approached, the imposing walls of the mansion beckoned her forward, simultaneously invoking a sense of awe and safety. The walls, constructed from a combination of sleek concrete and glass, exuded an air of strength and modernity. The interplay of light and shadow danced across the textured surfaces, creating a mesmerizing visual display.

Gazing out the window, she noticed the meticulously crafted balconies protruding from the upper floors, offering panoramic views of the surrounding landscape. Each balcony was adorned with luxurious glass railings, providing an unobstructed vista of the sprawling estate.

Zei stepped out of the car and a guard came forward, pausing a second to bow and catch the keys which were tossed in his direction. He started walking in the direction of the house and Haven hurriedly followed behind, cursing his long legs for the second time in a day.

She guessed it was probably near midnight, meaning that the residents of the building must be asleep and introductions could be delayed until the next morning. As a wave of relief washed over her, she couldn't help but notice a faint glimmer of hesitancy in his actions, evident in the way he tightly gripped the handle and cautiously pushed open the door.

[Take.]

Take what?

[Take.]

Haven, feeling a lump in her throat and with her headache intensifying, swallowed hard as she entered the room. The heavy door closed behind her with an ominous thud, plunging the space into complete darkness. She instinctively reached out, her hands outstretched and began to explore the surroundings, her fingertips tentatively brushing against the cool, smooth surface of the walls.

However, the next second the lights flashed on out of nowhere. She closed her eyes on instinct, the sudden flash blinding her momentarily. Squinting open her eyes, the sight that beheld her had her standing still in confusion for a couple of minutes.

Two people stood in front of them and Haven recognized them as his 'minions' from back at the club. They both had their arms tightly crossed, their expressions a mix of annoyance and disapproval, as they fixed their intimidating gazes upon Zei.

She could feel their collective scrutiny bearing down on him, causing a faint bead of nervous sweat to form on his forehead. In a feeble attempt to alleviate his mounting anxiety, Zei scratched the back of his neck, his trembling fingers fumbling with each nervous stroke almost as if he was scared to death at what was going to happen to him.

Haven's jaw almost dropped to the floor in shock.

The sudden revelation had her gasping for breath. She didn't know whether to laugh or bang her head against the nearest wall.

Ezekiel Wei—

Ezekiel Wei has a curfew?!
