Chapter 29: Fear incarnate

The bald man was about to reply when the thick-eye browed cultivator from earlier interrupted and joined the conversation.

"30 spirit stones."

The bald man's eyes lit up, he hadn't expected to actually lure in two cultivators at once.

Feng Zhiming slowly turned his head to look at the thick-eye browed man and his entourage of lackey's behind him.

His gaze didn't hold any semblance of softness or vulnerability that it did when he would joke around or have fun, instead it harboured a deep hostility.

"Orthodox doves should run along before they have their feathers plucked and cooked into roast meat." he said casually while waving his hand dismissively.

The restaurant's customers began to laugh at the orthodox cultivators.

"30 spirit stones bald fool, are you gonna sell or not." he spoke in an annoyed tone, the thick-eye browed man was clearly becoming agitated.

Feng Zhiming was nearing the end of his patience, he was looking forward to hunting this elusive creature and this obnoxious man was actually interfering with him.

"Are you saying this is an auction?" Feng Zhiming asked the bald man with an annoyed expression.

The bald man was clearly hoping for the situation to become an auction.

"It is business, please understand." the bald man spoke in a non apologetic tone.

"40 spirit stones." Feng Zhiming spoke with a very obviously irritated expression.

"41 spirit stones." the thick eye browed man declared clearly trying to spite Feng Zhiming.

Feng Zhiming gripped the table, cracking it slightly, his expression shifted to a small smile before he began to chuckle.

"What's so funny? Are you too poor to bid higher? Expected from unorthodox scum such as yourself." the man asked him with a large grin on his face.

Feng Zhiming slowly stood up.

"Are you gonna bow and beg me to rescind my offer?" The man's grin grew larger and larger as he looked around.

The people he expected to have been laughing slowly began to back up from the middle of the shop, they knew what was coming.

"So much for not drawing attention." Anissa thought to herself as she drank some tea.

Feng Zhiming slowly closed the distance between him and the man.

"You know it's funny, no matter where you go there will always be fools who forget things."

Feng Zhiming's hand flew up and grabbed the man around his mouth.

The four remaining disciples behind him tried to move but Feng Zhiming's sheer aura had them on their knees.

While the man was violently trying to remove Feng Zhiming's hand from his mouth, Internally Feng Zhiming was fuming.

It was always others who got in his way, he was reasonable and even gave this man a chance to leave with his life.

Why should he be the one to make concessions, it was his life and he was living it, why would he value another's will over his own, how absurd.

He slowly lifted the man up.

Regardless of how he seemed when he happily ate a meal or sat by a lake he was not a patient man and when that line was crossed it opened the floodgates.

Despite the gap of two small realms Feng Zhiming showcased his overwhelming superiority in terms of foundation.

It was clear that this thick eye-browed man was merely fed pills like a pig and raised to look strong and mighty.

Other people maybe couldn't tell, but he knew, Feng Zhiming could tell if a person was predator and prey in a single look, and this man was prey among prey, a lamb ready to be taken to the slaughter.

He knew that the man's arrogance was a defense mechanism, much like how a possum played dead or a man may raise his hands in the air to scare away a beast. A pitiful attempt to save his life.

"You tried to play games with someone who doesn't consider you a player." Feng Zhiming slowly stated as his grip around the man's face began to tighten.

The man who had realized the overwhelming difference between the two of them began to actually form a tear in his eye.

"Trying to appeal to my mercy, you're better off begging for a god to save you." his hand began to rupture the man's cheek with the amount of pressure he had applied

Feng Zhiming was finished conversing, he held him by the mouth and began to repeatedly smash him into the ground.

"Maybe in."

*SMASH!*

"Your next life."

*SMASH!*

"Don't be."

*SMASH!*

"Born a."

*SMASH!*

"Arrogant retard."

*SMASH!*

What remained of him couldn't be called a corpse, he had been turned into mush by Feng Zhiming, ironically the only part that remained was the area around his teeth where he had been holding him by.

Feng Zhiming, whose robe was now covered in blood turned to look at the bald man who was cowering under the table he had been sitting at.

"You said it was an auction so I shall bid."

He slowly walked over to his chair and sat down, each step sounding like the calling of the grave to the bald man.

"I bid your life."

The man crawled out from under the table and grabbed Feng Zhiming's leg like a dog.

"Sold! Sold!"

He had seen the man brutally murder a man two minor realms above him, he did not want to be next.

Now that the matter had been dealt with he turned his gaze to four remaining orthodox doves who were trembling in fear as they knelt.

"I will let you live, not because I'm merciful but because I truly believe that in your weak petty insignificant lives neither you nor anyone in a karmic relation to you could ever even dream of harming me." Feng Zhiming spoke while striking an unrelenting fear into their heart, fear large enough to crack their Dao heart.

He lifted his aura that had been weighing down on them, but he could not let them leave just yet, he had a use for them yet.

"Let it be known that Dao Lord Fury vows to wipe out the orthodoxies in his life." he said in conclusion as the four cultivators bolted from the restaurant while hyperventilating. A very real terror still casting a shadow over their hearts.
