Chapter 8:The Reason Why

The sun was displaying its loyal rays to the world swallowing the horrifying darkness. The little princess was still in bed. She was oblivious of her surrounding due to the comfort she was feeling. She was struggling with the covers that were all over her holding her tightly due to her unending wriggles.

After a moment of struggle, her eyes shot wide open when she remembered something. She looked at her surroundings and mostly where she was lying. Her last memory of last night came back instantly. She was sleeping on the floor. She panicked thinking maybe she sleep-walked and climbed on Lord Deimos' bed. She looked at the other side of the bed but the person she was expecting was not there. She let out a long sigh of relief and climbed off the bed immediately. She put on her boots and was ready to leave when she remembered something. She was to start working today. She wondered what tasks she would be given.

With Lord Deimos temperament, he would not go easy on her after suspecting she was up to something and was probably using him to achieve it. She paced back and forth thinking of what to do.

Her thinking process was interrupted by the opening of the door. She jolted back as she was just a few steps away from the door. She was about to start apologizing for everything, but the person was not who she expected it be.

"Good morning, my lady," housekeeper Albert greeted with a warm smile.

"To you too, Uncle Albert," she said which made the old man look at her as if surprised. She then realized how she had addressed him.

"Is it okay if I call you, Uncle Albert?" she asked politely.

Still with his heartwarming smile, housekeeper Albert nodded.

"Master asked me to prepare you a bath and clothes. Everything is in your room."

"Thank you. Please lead the way or I might get lost once again."

Housekeeper Albert helped her get to the room and left her alone.

Jasmine rushed in her room. She could smell a refreshing scent of jasmine flowers. She looked around the room since she had not been able to do so the day before.

Afterwards, she went behind the curtains and there was a tub filled with water and jasmine flowers. These were her favourite flowers. They improved her mood, reduced stress and reduced food cravings. She could not wait to feel her skin under the water.

Demon Realm

Deimos was sitting on a throne-like chair. It was his throne, and this was his court in the Demon Realm. A court that was made out of blood of countless demons.

Before him, three men were kneeling as he stared dagger at them. With a closer look, one could recognize Orson as one of them. Deimos was beyond annoyed because of their reckless action the night before. It seemed he had been lenient on them recently making them forget who he was.

"Who asked you to do that!" his voice thundered across the hall.

His eyes were as dark as the darkest night. His grip on the throne hardened almost cracking the mixture of gold and silver it was made of.

"We were wrong, Deimos. Can you stop being angry? You are too scary," Orson said hiding his head behind one of the men kneeling with him.

Deimos narrowed his eyes at Orson and the two. He knew they were impatient to accomplish what they wanted just like he was but that did not allow them to disregard his orders. Their actions were too reckless, and they would have alerted their enemies.

"Didn't I tell you not to touch her until I say so?" Deimos asked staring at Orson. "You had the nerve to break into my house and cause chaos."

Orson shuddered shaking his companion's hand for help.

"Even if he didn't do it, I would have done it too," the man beside Orson said his voice plain and devoid of any emotions.

"Orion, you know what would have happened if you did that!" Deimos retorted almost shouting at the man, Orion.

Orion, who had become Orson's knight in the shining armor sneered. Even if a war would have erupted last night, he was ready to fight. He could not understand why Deimos was reluctant to do it.

Deimos looked at the other quiet man and said to him coldly," Are you also with, Ozias?"

Ozias raised his head and looked at him the same way. His eyes screamed of danger and terror. He almost had the same intimidating demeanor as Deimos.

"Just make sure I don't meet her and all will be fine," his voice as cold as the night rang in their ears.

Deimos looked at them one by one his brow knitted. His dark eyes were calm which scared Orson. He preferred their cold and always angry Deimos.

"Since you all have decided to go against me then I won't hold myself.... And my mansion is out of bound for the three of you. I won't spare anyone if I catch them."

"Can you stop the three of us?" Ozias retorted his eyes on Deimos.

"It seems you have forgotten who I am. Should I remind you!" Deimos said his voice not loud nor low.

Ozias eyes flickered but he regained his composure right away.

"I don't intend to go against you. I just don't understand why she can't be touched," Ozias said lowering his glare.

Deimos stood up from the throne and went down to them.

"Because she does not have her immortality essence. That's why she lacks scent, and we can't enter her head. Without her essence, she's like an empty vessel with no use."

The three were shocked but they did not say any more.

"I hope now you understand now. If a little blood of hers is shed by any of us, then they will know, and our plan will remain incomplete. She needs to get her essence back before she can become useful to us."

Deimos strode out of the hall and vanished, leaving his three brothers thinking of what he had just told them.
