Cheng Qi And His Best Friend.
"Well, I think I should go now. We will talk later-" Cheng Qi wanted to quickly wrap the things with her and part ways before his friend could reach. He already knew how his friend would react.
"YAH! CHENG QI!!"
Cheng Qi was stunned hearing the voice but the next second uplifted his bag to hide his face. The hell? How did he reach here before he could even make a run.
"Zhao Yuhui, it was nice to meet you but I think I need to quickly run away."
Zhao Yuhui watched him bending his head, almost sticking to the table as he brought the bag up from one hand and enunciated.
"Could he have run away? But that's impossible! I was just on the other side but didn't see him coming out." They heard a mutter very near to them when Cheng Qi asked. "Zhao Yuhui, if you don't mind can you look around and tell where is a brown-headed boy?"
Zhao Yuhui danced her eyes around and soon founded the boy. "Right behind you."
Just when she said, a hand clutched the collar of Cheng Qi and pulled his bag away before tilting his head up. "Cheng Qi, is that you?" A happy voice of a beatific face was what his eyes saw.
"No, you got the wrong person." With that, Cheng Qi detached his form from his friend's hold forcibly.
"Come on, don't be like that. I am your friend, right?" The boy laughed at Cheng Qi's grumpy voice and pulled a seat to sit beside him.
"How did you get here so fast?" Cheng Qi pumped surly and didn't even feel like looking at his face.
"I was on the other side of the canteen and snatched the bicycle of one boy when I heard Zhao Yuhui was here." The boy leaned closer to Cheng Qi's ears and whispered. However, it was to no benefit as Zhao Yuhui heard it.
He pulled away and set the strands of his hair behind while having an ear-to-ear grin. The boy rubbed his hands together to warm them before extending it forward. He didn't want his crush to feel cold because of him.
"Hi, I am Xu Dong and am his" he tugged Cheng Qi's neck to stick their head together and continued, "best-friend."
"Leave me, you ba-" He stopped mid-way as he glanced at Zhao Yuhui who looked amused. He didn't want to curse in front of her.
"Hello, I am Zhao Yuhui." She politely shook hands with him.
"I heard you both are working on a project together. If you ever need help, don't hesitate in reaching out for me."
"Why would she reach out for you when there is me?" Cheng Qi scowled.
"So what? Three are always better than two, right Miss Zhao?"
"Zhao Yuhui. Just call me Zhao Yuhui."
"I can call you that?" He shrieked ecstatically. "I mean, wouldn't that be as if we are friends?"
"Than we can be friends." Zhao Yuhui said that in a flow after feeling his excitement. She had not thought that there would be anyone in the college so excited to meet her.
"Oh fu**! Sure, let's be friends." Cheng Qi eyes almost bulged out. That's it. So easily...what about him? He should be friends too after all he was her team mate.
"Yah! I as her partner did not ask her to be my friend so easily then how could you be so shameless?" Xu Dong felt a harsh smack at the back of his head and left a small screech.
"We can be friends too."
"For real?" Cheng Qi inquired but then composed himself, "I mean only if you are comfortable. No need to force yourself just to keep his excitement." He pointed at Xu Dong who also got serious and nodded his head sincerely.
"That's right. Don't say so if you are uncomfortable."
"Why would I be uncomfortable with making friends? That's in fact a good thing, isn't it?"
"That is, but we are saying so because we never saw you with anyone before in these years so we thought you are not fond of making friends."
"Oh. Back then I was too busy in acting then caring about making friends." She replied sheepishly.
"Um...I think we need to go now. It's quarter to four and we have a basketball practice match at four." Xu Dong spoke with deep regret after checking the time.
"Sure, it was nice meeting both of you."
"When would you come to university now?" Cheng Qi asked after he saw her standing and gathering her plate to throw it in bin.
"Tomorrow. Don't worry I will be regular this month since I am in a 'resting-holidays' for a month." Zhao Yuhui chuckled as she uttered the same words Director Song told her.
"Resting? Are you hurt somewhere?" Xu Dong was concerned as he stood up.
"I stayed in cold water for more time then what was recommended. So yeah...till the pain of my bones diminish, I am on rest."
"Oh...we wish you a speedy recovery." Cheng Qi wished cordially followed by Xu Dong.
