A Boyfriend?

Zhao Yuhui scanned her id in the lift before punching the floor that she was told to go.

Manager Liu, as what everybody preferred to call her respectably, had her own office among the topmost floors of the company. She was basically a head manager who had all the managers working under her.

Manager Liu oversaw the shortlisting of new actors and placing those artists under different managers based on their capabilities.

Personally, she rarely managed artists by herself. In her career, she had been manager of only two people; one was an artist whom she recruited in her earliest days till that artist went into a coma in an accident couple of years back and another was a girl whom she managed only for a week because it was the urgency of time.

Just like in Zhao Yuhui's case.

Normally, some other manager was supposed to handle her after she got contracted. But because Zhao Yuhui entered the company in the last quarter of the year, all the managers were already slotted to the artists.

Hence, Zhao Yuhui was left with no one to manage her. That's why she was placed temporarily under Manager Liu who wasn't too pleased about the idea initially.

Her last experience with that girl had made her completely loathe the idea of managing artists. After that, she had focused more on managers than those artists.

Still, Manager Liu took her responsibility well and kept on providing her opportunities with projects, auditions and reality shows every once in a while, which she thought were good for someone at Zhao Yuhui's level. However, Manager Liu was also careful enough to not let her get any advantage through her position.

And because of this too, Zhao Yuhui had become the top target of jealousy of several artists. She came at last still she got the best privilege of having Manager Liu as her manager!

When she got to the floor, she went to left end and again scanned her id card before getting the access to Manager Liu's space. She saw a girl about the same age as hers sitting in front of a computer and working earnestly. She must be her secretary.

"Is Manager Liu inside?" She asked bringing the focus of the secretary to herself.

"And you are...?"

"Zhao Yuhui. I have an appointment."

"Oh right, she told me about it! She has been waiting for you. You can go inside." That girl politely smiled and pointed at the door which seemed to be her office.

"Sure. Thank You." Zhao Yuhui knocked on the door and waited to get the approval before pushing the door. The first thing she noticed was that the office had a traditional touch.

The office was well-maintained with polished internal designing of plywood. It was unlike other offices that generally followed the same layout of keeping the offices modern.

When she was done checking out the office, she noticed the main chair was occupied by a person and it was swivelled to the side; prominently towards the floor-to-ceiling window from where the view of the city was visible.

The only trait viewable from her position was the head shimmered with the chocolate brown hair popping from the chair's headrest.

"Sister Liu."

The greeting caused the chair to twirl to her and the female sitting upon it spoke. "You are here."

Looking at her, Zhao Yuhui felt a deja vu and realised she had forgotten that Manager Liu was still young. The maturity in her voice often caused the other person to misunderstand her age.

Manager Liu was a lady in her earliest thirties. She had only entered it last year so it can be said that she was still too young for the position she held in this company. But nobody ever felt it because she started working here when she was in her late teens and ever since, had given her all to bring success.

She was one of the few people who had stayed with the company this long and because of that she was often regarded as a valuable asset to the company and was respected a lot.

Nothing was known about her family background and even her because she rarely appeared in public. And even when she did, her face would always be covered.

It was solely her name that revolved in this industry.

"It's so nice to meet you, finally." Zhao Yuhui complimented humbly.

"Same here." Saying that Manager Liu got up from her seat and patted the shoulder of Zhao Yuhui and signalled at the couches behind her. "Let's sit there."

Zhao Yuhui rubbed her hands and nervously followed behind.

"I have an urgent meeting to attend in half an hour so let's discuss everything fast."

"Sure."

"Before getting started, I realised there are several things about the company you are not familiar with so let me do that first..."

Zhao Yuhui attentively listened to Manager Liu when she was explaining over things to her. About ten minutes later, Manager Liu brought up the topic towards the events being hosted by Glimmer.

"You would only attend two events? May I know the reason?"

"That's right. I will go to tomorrow's dinner and then the new year party. The reason is personal."

"You have a boyfriend?"
