Lucas up to age, for a real
Man. He is tall, strong and naturally
Rebellious. He roams the countryside
helping villagers, fighting corrupt
officials and always standing up for
the weak.
"Uncle you are worrying too much.
This local thugs are nothing, and
are no match for me. Besides, I
can't standby and watch them bully
everyone as they want." Lucas
mumbling, with satisfaction in his
voice.
Without letting his voice fall to the
ground. Thomas mumbled.
Throwing his gaze fixed on him
"You are young Lucas. Strength
is not just in muscle. It's knowing
when to walk away and not fight.
From now on, I want you to stay
out of trouble."
"Okay uncle." Lucas intone.
Thomas sighs, as he watches Lucas
walk away. Yet the secret he holds about Lucas, keeps him worrying seeing that
Lucas is becoming too hard to handle.
The next day as uncle Thomas walks
through the streets, he sighted Lucas
helping a Local farmer repairing a fence.
He thought, ' today might just be a peaceful day if he stays like that till sunset' with a smirk on his face, while Shaking his head.
Reaching home, just about to open the
door, a panic voice came from behind!
"Mr. Thomas, it's Lucas. He's fighting."
Without hesitation Mr. Thomas
turns immediately, to the axis
he came from. But before he gets
there. He found four men lying
down groaning in pain.
Lucas staring at Thomas. Seeing the
disappointing look on his face,
uttered. "There hit me first!"
Mr. Thomas being furious held him
by the ear and walk home with him.
He swayed his gaze at Lucas,
without saying a word after some
seconds have gone by. He finally
uttered. "all I'm doing is for your
good and safety. The more
trouble your stare out there, the
more exposed you will be to the
danger I'm protecting you from."
He thought immediately after spilling
out such hints, been anxious.
'oh no what did I just say, this is
not going to end well! How I'm I
going to bury these words! '
"Uncle, what did you just say?
protecting me from what? "
"it's nothing, I was just worried about
our safety, what if those boys
regroup and come back in full force.
You know I'm not getting younger,
troubles like that gets me worrying
too much. And you know we have
no money in case things like that
gets out of hand." Thomas mumbling
trying to look pitiful.
Lucas seeing his uncle troubled by
his act. for a moment, every
question he thought of asking, skip
his mind as he trys to console his
Uncle. " I'm sorry, it's just that
they came to beat up that poor old
man. And I couldn't stand by and
watch him beaten."
"How about next time, you just look
up, turn around and act like you
owe no one anything! How about That?
"I will try. But not when it's on my neck." Lucas mumbled, and Walks out.
Uncle Thomas shaking his head,
thought, ' just like his father. Always
dominant doing just what he wants.
How can I even forget that, A Lion
can only birth a Lion. '
The locals always see Lucas to be
different from everyone else. Seeing
how he always stands out to defend
them from thugs, and corrupt officials
without fear, even when every other
person backs down. They also wonder
why he never holds back when double
crossed. With mixed feelings.
Admiration and fear.
One of the locals whispered "He's
a no body, but his very intimidating
and dominant."
Another one whispered "He even
Have the guts to take down
officials and today He's taking down
those thugs without fear. There is something about him."
When ever he notice the looks he
gets from the people. and the
mumbling about his true identity.
His carefree life fades. And getting
the hint of what his uncle said in
their last conversation. He
quickly rush home, so furious
with desperation to get answers.
Even though he was furious.
The moment he gets home, as he
sets his gaze at his Uncle. he gets
cold, for the respect and love he
has for his uncle Thomas. cannot
be measured.
"Uncle, I have been thinking. You
never told me much about my
parents. Who were they? Why did
they leave me with you?"
Lucas calmly intoned.
Thomas caught off guide by the
question thrown at him, felt
a sense of panic rising
in him. Yet remains calm, trying to
figure out words to suppress the
question. He mumbled.
"It's complicated, Lucas. Your father
was a powerful man. But he wanted
to keep you safe."
"Safe from what? I'm not a child
anymore. I deserve to know."
Lucas wandering in his voice,
with desperation to hear every
of his question answered.
Silent follows his remark in the room,
for a while. then Thomas realizing he
needs to say something. As Lucas
fixed his gaze on him. He turns his face
bent on the ground towards
Lucas. Then uttered. "There are things
about your past that are best left in
the past, son. Trust me on this."
"Every time I ask, you dodge the
question. I'm not a fool, uncle. I
can handle the truth."
