"A Change of Pace"

Everything is pitched black, memories from the past, left and right, here and there. Drowning in a deep sea, tied up by chains that were pulling me down.

All of a sudden, a bright white light started to overcome the darkness and a silhouette of a girl slowly approached me, lending her hand to me. I reached for her hand, then suddenly a beam of light flashed before my eyes.

"Ah, another weird dream.. and what time is it even already? Oh crap, it's 8:45 AM already! I'm gonna be late! It's the first day of school as well! "

Hi, I am Shin and I'm just your average normal looking guy who's about to be late on my first day of class. This is a story about me and the girl that I developed feelings for but am still puzzled about how I really feel.

"Oh no! I'm gonna be in big trouble if I don't make it on time! I have to hurry up and move fast"

Shin slides out of his bed, he gets his clothes, toothbrush, towel and goes to the bathroom swiftly.

After bathing, he goes down to get his sandwich, then goes outside and runs up as fast he can to get to Shoto High.

Shin arrives at the school gate and rushes to his classroom. Shin missed the first class, sadly. He was quite down after that.

Suddenly, a girl with long silky black hair with milky-white skin caught Shin's eyes. Shin was speechless about how beautiful the girl was.

From her shapely nose and large eyes and long eyelashes to her delicate pink lips. It's as if the girl was a guardian angel sent by God.

"Is there something wrong umm.." the girl said.

"No no, there's nothing wrong! Oh and by the way, the name is Shin." Shin replied.

"Ohh, nice to meet you Shin! My name is Mai, Masumi Mai."

"Nice to meet you too, Mai. Actually I do have a problem. I missed the first class and I don't even have a single clue about what happened there" Shin sights.

"Well, nothing much, just an introduction and an overview of what's gonna happen in the future on that subject. Anyways, time is running out, let's head to our next class. Should we Mamotzuki?" Mai replied.

Shin nodded and they went to the next subject till all the subjects were done. Now classes are done, Shin and Mai are now about to depart and go home. While Shin is packing his stuff, Mai approaches him.

"Well, it's time for us to say goodbye then, Mamotzuki." Mai said to Shin.

"Ah yeah. Goodbye then Masumi-san,, I'll see you tomorrow. Hopefully, I won't be late again."

Shin was about to walk in the opposite direction, then suddenly Mai yelled his name.

"Mamotzuki!, Let's be friends starting tomorrow, okay! If you're okay with it?"

Shin was surprised that a girl would want to be friends with an introverted person like him. He was stunned for a second, unable to speak out or give out a reply to Mai.

"Ohh.. Uhh.. sure. We can be friends"

Shin replied while scratching the back of his head nervously.

"Then that's it! We're friends now then! See you tomorrow Shin!"

Mai waves at Shin and now goes in the opposite direction to go home.

Shin felt something that he, himself, wasn't able to identify what it was. Shin seems to have developed some feelings for Mai even though they just met. Perhaps this is love at first sight?

"This must be just my imagination or perhaps this might be just an effect from the past. It's been a while since a girl asked me to be friends with them. Yeah, that's probably it. I'll be going as well then."
