Save her

Helen nodded, took a deep breath and began.

She skipped over everything that had happened before Aria reached the hideout, saying it wasn't important now. She told them how Aria had planned her escape, how she was still in the mansion, and how she might not be very safe.

Helen also pointed them in the direction she had come from and said, "You'll find traces of her wind bending for about 3-4 kilometres. After that, look for earth bending, a tunnel. She transported me underground."

Mr. Scott nodded, gave Helen a little kiss on the cheek and a, "I'm so glad you're safe." before turning around and starting to bark orders.

He was very quickly replaced by Mrs. Scott, who basically jumped onto Helen as soon as she was done with her story.

"Oh god Helen! I was so worried. Thank God you're okay!" Mrs. Scott said. Helen steadied her a little before melting in her embrace. Tears finally streaked down from her face, now that she didn't need to be strong anymore. Now that she was safe.

As she was being led inside the mansion by Mrs. Scott and her friends, Helen grabbed hold of her father's arm and said, "Save her father. Save her. I owe her my life. We owe her more than you think."

Mr. Scott only nodded solemnly.

All this while, Joseph sat on the ground, stunned out of his senses. He had heard all that Aria had done when Helen was telling the story, and the only thing that kept ringing in his ears was, "All you want is always to attract attention to yourself! Show off your might! You don't really care about Helen, or Jacob for that matter. You've never cared about them!!" "Of course you don't. Who is Helen to you anyway. She's nothing to you. Probably just a stepping stone. The same as me."

He had been such an idiot. At that moment, in his rage, Joseph had spoken everything he knew would hurt Aria, because none of them were the truth.

Aria hated drawing attention to herself, it was just her personality and her affinity to elements that made her the centre of attraction everywhere. On top of that, Joseph, and everyone around them knew how much Aria cared for her friends at the academy.

She would literally do anything for them, even risk her own life, as she had demonstrated right now.

Joseph was still lost in his thoughts when Mr. Scott approached him. Seeing the boy give no response, he put a hand on Joseph's shoulder, which did the trick.

Joseph blinked and looked at his father, seeming to come out of a trance.

"I suppose you'll want to come with us." Mr. Scott said, "We are going to need all the wind bendors we can get."

He frowned upon getting no response from Joseph. Mr. Scott had assumed Joseph would jump up and try to act like a man, like he always did, but all he did was hang his head back down and give no reply.

"Come on Joseph. We're getting late!" Mr. Scott's voice was dripping with impatience and anger.

"I don't think I should." Joseph replied, not even looking up, "I'm not capable enough. I don't deserve to rescue her."
