It is not fair

"Fine. Suit yourself." Mr. Scott murmured before taking his soldiers and rushing off.

Joseph did not know how long he sat there, or when he got up and walked to the room where the doctor was, with the still unconscious Jacob and a very worried, teary eyed Helen.

As he walked through the mansion, Joseph felt like he was about to suffocate. Like he couldn't breathe, like his lungs didn't seem to have enough space to expand. He assumed he was going to black out, but nothing of the sort happened. Joseph made it to the room safe and sound and stood there at the door, looking at her mother and the other ladies fussing over Helen.

As he stood there, looking from the shaken up Helen to the beat up Jacob, and imagined with a shudder how hurt Aria would be, a disturbing thought occurred to Joseph.

"It isn't fair." he murmured. "Huh? Did you say something Master Scott?" a servant girl who had been passing asked him. Joseph nodded to her and hung his head. "It isn't fair that I am the only one who came out of this unscathed." he muttered.

Joseph opened his eyes and wiped away the tears that had streaked onto his face. The rest of that morning was too painful for him to remember.

Jacob had been asleep when Aria was brought back, and Helen hadn't been allowed to see her until the next morning. But Joseph had somehow found himself at the main entrance of the mansion, waiting patiently for Aria to be brought back.

He had stood in a corner as his father had brought a broken looking Aria back with him, flying. Though she had been administered first-aid and most of her wounds were bandaged, however clumsily, the reminder of them still gave Joseph nightmares.

That day had mostly gone in evryone running around the mansion at the beck and call of the doctor who was tending to Aria. Joseph had sneaked in once in the room where she was, but he had to rush out as he felt like vomiting when the doctor had removed her bandages. Joseph had never seen her after that day, the doctor had forbidden it.

The next day, Aria had been moved to the academy at the insistence of Professor Thomas. He said that he would seal off the infirmary, not risking any risk to Aria. Everyone had agreed, even Mr. Scott, although unwillingly.

It was known that Doctor David was among the best doctors in the kingdom, and no one could care for Aria like Miss Anhao. Professor Thomas had also argued that Aria would be more comfortable in a familiar environment after she woke up.

The rest of the three had returned back to the academy the next day. Though they had holidays for two more days, Helen had insisted upon being with Aria.

Joseph had come with her, to take care of her, and Jacob had too. He had been worried about Aria, though he seemed to be avoiding Helen, weirdly.

During the next two days, both Helen and Jacob had tried to see Aria. But Miss Anhao had driven them away, promising to let them in when it was safe.

Jacob had given up after two days.
