Mathias "How can we kill it if we're trapped inside a furnace! Even Diablo would run this situation!" he shouts over his shoulder.
Selina "I guess we'll be exploring the ruins anyway!" she chirps smugly.
Mathias shakes his head and increases his speed as he feels the temperature rise behind him, raising the floor again to help them retreat to safety.
The group slide around the corner, Barnock pulling Quennie who'd stumbled slightly due to the smooth marble stone flooring.
Mathias raises another wall of stone to block the fire from entering the next hallway, the heat no destroying this one as quickly due to it impacting the back wall of the hallway.
After the sound of the Dragons breath attack wanes, Mathias lowers the wall and notices a large hole in the wall was now present... The floor was melted and still glowing red hot, but the sunlight streaming through the scorched hole brought them an opportunity to escape these ruins that could very well become their tomb.
Mathias "The Dragon has created an exit for us, once we leave we'll likely have to fight it though, so be prepared." he says.
Barnock grins, "Barnock the DragonSlayer? I like the sound of that."
Selina "Dragon Slayer isn't a good title in this world you know... It's seen the same as "Murderer" due to how intelligent Dragons usually are, one of the saints of Ichor is a Dragon as well... His frozen body still sits upon a mountain overlooking the city." she says with a slightly scathing tone.
Barnock "Hm, I suppose the honor of fighting it will be enough." he mutters, feeling slightly put out at being told off by a child, even if that child is a princess.
Tyrael "There's no time to waste, lets go." he says, hopping through the hole and barely managing to recover his balance. He'd landed on the steep include that led up to the ruins atop the mountain, if he'd tripped he'd likely be rolling until tomorrow...
He assists the others getting down, shaking his head with chagrin when Selina simply teleports next to him. A shadow flies overhead warning them that the Dragon had indeed noticed their escape from the ruins, it circles around above their heads waiting for an opportune moment to attack.
The Dragon itself looked different from what Selina and Quennie had seen in the past, it was much larger than the ones you'd usually find, about a quarter the size of the Everlasting Dragon, which was impressive for this particular species. Not only that, but it had gold scales, or at least... Some golden scales... They were strangely mixed with red ones that resembled the mutated monsters they'd previously fought.
Upon hearing this Tyrael goes pale, the thought of Diablo mutating Dragons scared him more than he thought it would.
The Dragon has glowing red segments in between the scales, ones that you'd commonly see on powerful demons. Its talons were huge, and its tail ended in scythe-like spines that'd surely sever anything it hit. When it bends its neck to look down at them, it's previously yellow eye begins glowing red, signalling that Diablo was indeed in control of this being.
Tyrael prepares his sword and glances at his companions, "Prepare for battle, Diablo won't let us escape from here alive." he states.
As soon as those words leave his lips, the shadow above them swoops down with talons bared. It follows along the mountain, getting as close as a few meters from the surface as it flies at breakneck speeds towards them.
Mathias and Quennie were already firing spells at it, but most either missed or were shrugged off by its gold and red scales.
Barnock jumped in-front of the group and swung his axe just as the Dragon reached them, a talon swiping at him with intent to run him through. He gives a roar as he bats away the talon, managing to fracture it as the beast flies past. The Dragon roars in pain as it feels the fracture, flying a couple hundred meters before turning around and floating over them.
Mathias "It's preparing to shoot flames again!" he shouts to warn the group.
There isn't any place to take cover so Selina decides to use a spell to spray tons of water up the mountain, the water travels straight back down and creates a makeshift waterslide, something which the others quickly jump into as the flames of the Dragon bathe the area.
Barnock is the only one who hadn't leapt into it, instead jumping higher up the mountain before launching himself at it with a valorous roar.
The Dragon's attention had been on the larger group, and only noticed the flying Barbarian when he started shouting, it tried moving its head towards Barnock in order to redirect its flames, but found the Barbarians axe heading straight for it.
Barnock slams the axe-head straight into the cheek of the Dragon, burying it in the thick scales and drawing boiling blood. He'd experienced high ranking demons blood before and knew to avoid it, using his axe as a handhold to throw himself to the crown of the Dragons head.
The Dragon threw its head backwards inorder to get the pest off of its body, but found that Barnocks grip on its scales was too tight. It starts flying straight up towards the sky to hopefully find a wait of ridding itself of him.
However, Barnock wasn't going to just let the Dragon do what it wants, instead of throwing brutal punches down at its head, shaking its brain and causing its eyes to bulge from the force. Everyone else in the group was watching from the mountainside as the Dragon flew about randomly in the air, the only thing giving them an indication of what was happening were the loud sounds of fracturing scales, cracking bone, and bruising of flesh.
Hehe, I don't know about you guys, but Pounding the Dragon is one of best things you can do.
