Omen, the squad, the return

Blood, vegetation debris, the body of Vampire Hare, and Joane's body. That was the only thing Kizaer, Ciona, and Shen's minds could process.

The noise of the attackers on other animals, whatever was coming toward them, along with all the other sounds of the Perennial Forest seemed to vanish at that moment.

For almost half a minute, the trio stood there, paralyzed and holding their breath. The sight of Joane's blood-stained, lifeless body felt like an alternate reality, disconnected from what they were experiencing in that moment.

However, the adrenaline coursing through their veins quickly snapped the trio out of that daydreaming state.

Kizaer was the first to break the shock-induced trance. He ran toward Joane's fallen body with what little strength he had left.

Ciona and Shen automatically accelerated toward their fallen companion. Each step toward Joane's body felt heavier and more difficult than the last.
