The Battle for Kuoh

"...The Underworld is-"

"-already divided between Devils and Fallen Angels. You won't lose anything."

Tensions in the room were high as I was refuting any counter claim they put forward.

"Japan is under the Shinto pantheon. We, Devils, aren't..."

Tiamat joined in, "Issei specifically asked for the areas you have power over through the contract between you and Amaterasu. As for the rest of the country, we'll deal directly with her."

"And besides, the fallen have their bases all over Kuoh. That's because not only is your sister weak, she's also complacent. So complacent that the Governor General himself came to speak to me."

That statement tied the deal. They had no excuse and needed to take responsibility. But of course, they tried to keep a watchman around me.

"Rias is still in high school, and is planning to continue college in the human world. It would be preferable if she could stay in Kuoh. The poor girl loves the city." Sirzechs stated with his wife appearing to sweat.

"She can stay until her high school graduation, not a day more. However..." I sneaked a peek at Grayfia. "I acknowledge that we are a fledging faction. I approve of you having eyes and ears in my territory, for now. But with how weak your sister is, you would be worried about her safety more than my actions. So, send someone stronger. Someone like that silver-haired Queen of Annihilation ."

...

After the Dragon duo left, Valina and Sirzechs retreated to their room.

"Will Grayfia be fine?"

"She's perhaps the only one who can handle this job well, dear." Valina smiled at her husband. "I'm more worried about Tannin. We gave his territory away. I hope a war doesn't break out in the underworld."

After saying that, she got up and smacked Sirzechs on the head.

"V-Val-chan!?!"

"Don't you Val-chan me! Were you really thinking of leaving poor Rias in that town for years, surrounded by dragons?"

"W-Well...maybe I was just tired. Hehe."

With a sigh, they both took a seat.

"By the way, what was your impression of him, Val-chan?"

"...He's not the first one to try and start a Dragon faction. But...there's just something about him. The air around him...I believe he may succeed in his goal. That's why we need to maintain a friendly relationship with him."

"Phew! If that's so then I'm glad my sister didn't anger him."

...

Issei, Tiamat and Grayfia were standing outside his house. Not because they wanted to, but because the magic circle hadn't recognized the inside of the house.

"Ah, I forgot I texted Sona before leaving. Maybe she's finished already."

"Sona Sitri-sama? What did you talk to her about?" Grayfia asked, with Tiamat nodding at the question.

"You'll see."

As soon as they walked through the door, they were blown away.

No longer resembling the modest house it was before, the inside was turned into a luxurious mansion.

The lobby alone could house a dozen people. The furniture properly contrasted the red walls and ceilings with golden chandeliers hanging. Oh by the way, the ceiling was tall enough to fit 6 Issei on top of each other.

"Issei-san!" Sona came running out of the kitchen to greet them.

"Hey, Son-" Issei's response was interrupted by an oppressing force exerting pressure on all of them.

"This aura belongs to a fallen angel." Tiamat exclaimed.

"What aura?" Sona asked, she wasn't strong enough to sense it.

"I believe it may be the cadre, Kokabiel." Grayfia gave her opinion.

"It's at the Academy, let's go." They all teleported at Issei's declaration. When they arrived, Issei gave an order to the devils, "Grayfia, take Sona and Rias with you somewhere far away, hopefully back to the Underworld. His main aim is those two, but I can keep his attention for as long as Lucifer wants."

With a bow, she left. No one listened to the complaining voice of Sona Sitri.

"Tiamat, make a barrier around the Academy. You won't have to fight, so you don't worry about depleting your power."

"Alright, beloved. But I'm staying by your side regardless."

Jumping and landing in front of the Fallen who was high up in the air, they cut short the argument between him and Rias.

"Ah, finally, the Dragon is here." he smirked in amusement. "The heiress, while cute and entertaining, is too weak for my taste."

"Don't underestimate me! I am-" Rias was knocked out by Grayfia. She understood the danger well and wasn't going to let emotions come in between her mission.

"Step closer, everyone. We need to evacuate so that we don't get in the way of Issei-sama." The maid ordered the peerage who was startled by all the commotion.

"Hey, hey, do you think I'll let you take the redhead away so easily?" Kokabiel prepared a light spear to be thrown at them, but his attention was diverted by Issei already launching a punch at him.

Kiba, who was holding the knocked out Rias, urged his friends to obey Grayfia. Fortunately for Issei, Kokabiel hadn't yet brought out the two people that would throw the knight into an uncontrolled rage.

With Akeno giving Issei one last look and voicing, 'Good luck' in her heart, the devils took their leave.

"Now then, let's dance, Fallen scum." Issei exclaimed with a smirk.

His limbs gave off a red glow as he prepared to defend against the numerous light spears Kokabiel could manifest.

"A bunch of fools, you are. The one down there is the Chaos Karma Dragon, right? Her barrier won't protect this town." He launched a barrage of attacks.

If Issei was a Devil, he would be sweating buckets right now.

He used his punches to deflect the light spears towards the ground. Most of them were being aimed at his face and chest.

"Kyaaaaaa!" Suddenly, a scream was heard from a place where he sent the light spear crashing.

"Asia!?! What are you doing here?" Issei thought the school was empty as it was almost nighttime.

Since the dragons were caught off guard, Kokabiel took the opportunity to launch 3 attacks with twice the amount of power than before. 3 attacks, aimed at 2 enemies.

One at Tiamat, and two at Asia.

Kokabiel didn't know how much Asia meant to him, but worst case scenario, it was just some collateral.

Tiamat was able to defend against it with ease, but there was a problem.

The light spears were too fast for Issei to reach Asia's position, so he had to intercept them in the air.

[Partner! Use 'that'!]

'No, not yet.' Issei sped up to as fast as he could and punched one spear out of the way, with the other hitting him in the back.

"Argh! Fuck!" His shirts melted off as his back sizzled with pain. "He mixed in some Dragon-slaying magic in that attack."

[Even if its a lowly one, a cadre is still a cadre. Don't underestimate him too much.]

Taking Ddraig's advice to heart, Issei stared down Kokabiel as Tiamat moved in to protect Asia.

"Kekekekeke, did that make you angry? Shitty-Dragon-kun?" The fallen had a huge smirk on his face, he seemed to be enjoying himself.

"Kokabiel, you should be worried about yourself..." Issei ripped off the remaining pieces of his shirt. "...because you're not leaving here in one piece."

"Balance Breaker."
