So as time went by, dragons grew stronger. Abeloth was already 5 meters long, and even his shining silver horns grew a little. Tamamo's Adalina grew even longer, being almost 7 long. If before she didn't have any limbs, and just small wings, then now she has developed arms, legs and her wings were big enough for her to fly without feeling exhaustion.
When Sukuna and Tamamo thought that they might as well test their familiar's strength. They chose few towns that they were visiting before and went there. Sukuna sat on Abbeloth, while Tamamo on Adalinda.
As they were close to their first target, they didn't even make a plan and decided to just rush it. Town itself wasn't that strong in military strength, focusing more on food production. When devils saw two dragons flying towards them, they immediately activated the barriers of the town. Sadly for them, it was of no use.
Dragon flames that both Abeloth and Adalinda used, were powerful enough to shatter barriers in few minutes. When they got into the town, they didn't even wait before starting to destroy and kill all that they could see. Abeloth attacked with dark flames, which obviously, contained darkness elemental within them. While Adalinda attacked with light rays, which contained a massive amount of light element in them.
While Abeloth was mostly annihilating buildings, Adalinda was mostly killing all devils as she had a huge elemental advantage against them. Sukuna was watching all this with a stoic expression while being in deep thought. 'It's like I thought, the stronger the familiar's master, the stronger the familiar.' But he quickly dismissed those thoughts and was just enjoying the show.
Like that, they went to other few towns and even vaporized 2 cities. They even met few strong devils. Even though it was harder to destroy them, it was still pretty easy as they were just annoying. After that, they were traveling once again. They met some devils and fallen angels that were trying to kill them, but they were quickly dealt with. Sukuna didn't even have to lift a finger, as his familiar did all job, though he let one fallen angel run away, it wasn't a big deal.
Sukuna was waiting for more enemies to come, but it seems like they were too scared to send anymore. They thought with Tamamo what to do, but eventually, they just resumed their searching of Dragon Kings. Also, they sent both of their familiars to Dragon Range to try to find something or someone interesting there. If they did find something, then they could easily communicate via telepathy.
Sukuna and Tamamo kept searching for a while but still couldn't find even a trace of Dragon King. They found some strong dragons, but they weren't even close to Dragon King's level. Sukuna also kept searching for strong individuals, that he could use in the future. He could use some devil's nobles but he thought against it.
They were sometimes really arrogant. Maybe they had a little bit of power that they inherited from their ancestors, but they were plain dumb. It was easier to subjugate an army of dragons than manipulate a bunch of idiots who would possibly do some stupid moves.
After few years of searching, and doing nothing interesting, they finally found something. When they were going near some mountains, they sensed a pretty strong aura. Tamamo said that she was sure that it wasn't an aura of a devil nor a fallen angel. They became curious about it and went closer. After getting closer to the aura, Tamamo could easily sense that it was an aura of a dragon.
Sukuna didn't even wait for Tamamo to finish as he disappeared from the spot. He immediately rushed towards the dragon with a large grin on his face. He even revealed his presence for Dragon King to notice. When he got to the top of the mountain he saw a gigantic dragon.
He had the appearance of a fifteen meters tall, gigantic western Dragon. With the exception of his lower body, specifically his belly, the inner portions of his long tail and legs, which are beige in color, a majority of his body was covered in dark purple, draconic scales. Also, the dragon had a triangular head with yellow horns, a pair of large, keen red eyes with the lavender sclera, and serrated yet sharp canine teeth. He also had claws with long sharp, yellow nails, on his hands, and large bat-like wings with rigid tips. Additionally, he wore black armored pauldrons that extend down to his arms and a loincloth decorated with metallic accessories.
"Hahaha, finally I found someone exceptional to fight with. Massacring those crawling maggots was fun as well, but to fight with someone strong enough isn't that bad either. So, which one of the Dragon Kings you are?" Sukuna laughed in a jovial tone. He then proceeded to ask the dragon's name.
"Hmm? My name is Tannin, and may I ask what is your name? I never thought that there would be someone bold enough to interrupt my slumber, but as you seem to be strong enough, it should be fine." He didn't even try to ask what was being in front of him. He clearly resembled a human, but something was off. Yes, he had four arms, and four red eyes, which wasn't really common for the human race, but there was something else that he couldn't detect.
"You can call me Sukuna, I don't mind. But enough with talks, they tend to get boring over time." His grin grew even wider threatening to split his face in half. Not waiting for a response, he immediately launched himself towards the dragon which took the latter off guard.
Sukunas nails grew a little bit longer and he attacked Tannin with sheer physical strength. He hoped that the dragon won't be killed just by this. True to his hopes, his nails left only a few scratches on Tannin's body. Tannin was even more surprised by this, as he hasn't really met anyone strong enough to do even such damage. He immediately grew excited by this. It seems like he finally found someone strong enough.
Sukuna quickly jumped back. He was just about to attack again when he saw a fire coming from the dragon's mouth towards him. He quickly dodged it, as he didn't know what kind of damage it could deal. After that, he immediately channeled some of his cursed energy into his arm and shot it towards Tannin.
When Tannin saw an attack coming towards him, he quickly spread his wings and flew higher. One would think that such a giant dragon would be slow but instead, he was really fast. Sukuna's attack easily destroyed anything in its way, leaving nothing behind. Now the fight would be on flat ground, and nothing could hinder their fight.
Tannin then flew at full speed towards Sukuna, with intent to hit him with his hand. Sukuna easily dodged it and threw instead his own attack with cursed energy. This time, his nails that were powered by cursed energy easily cut through the dragon's skin, though the wound wasn't that deep.
Tannin did a hundred-eighty degree turn and shot his flames towards Sukuna. He wanted to try what those flames could possibly do, so he put one of his arms inside the flames. The fire was incredibly hot, and it burned his hand in an instant. As soon as he saw that, he lost his interest in this fire.
Tannin wondered why would someone put his hand inside his flames, but the next second he got his answer. Sukuna used Reverse Cursed Technique and healed his hand in an instant.
"Hoo?~ This was some interesting skill. Though I still can't understand what species you exactly belong to, it doesn't really matter right now." Tannin grew a bit curious about his enemy's regenerative capabilities but soon dismissed it, as he was far more excited about the fight.
With those words said, Tannin attacked Sukuna with even more intensity, though it was no use. Sukuna didn't even try hard to dodge the dragon's attack. He soon understood that the dragon's physical strength and durability were far greater than his own, but it was still no problem for him. He could easily use cursed energy to power up his attack and deal a lot of damage to him.
Battle went by for several hours. They moved from one spot to another, destroying all that was in the vicinity. Trees were sent flying by shock waves, rocks melted from Tannin's dragon breath, and all animals that still could possibly be near them, fled when they sensed two powerful auras fighting each other.
Sukuna dealt a lot of cuts to Tannin and even broke one of his horns. Even though the battle was rather interesting, he still grew a little bit bored of it. Soon enough, he just used Dismantle which immediately left few deep cuts on the dragon's body. Sukuna was surprised though, as his enemy didn't die immediately.
Tannin didn't even notice when he suddenly got deep wounds on his body. He wanted to fight further, but he couldn't anymore. He just fell to the ground closed his eyes and sat there waiting for his inevitable death. But he wasn't sad nor he was scared. Instead, he was happy. For him to die in the battle with a strong enemy was all he wanted. He was waiting there for several seconds, but nothing happened. He slowly opened his eyes only to see this weird being walking towards him.
"Hahaha, let me guess. You thought you are gonna die here, right? Too bad that I found you to be an interesting one. In terms of magical power, you are far weaker than those Satans, but in physical strength, you even surpass me, which is quite surprising." Sukuna said with a smile. He didn't want to kill this one, because he could easily use him in the future.
"What do you want? You can just kill me easily, yet you didn't. I wonder what you could possibly want from me if you defeated me with such ease." Tannin said while frowning a little bit.
"That would be a waste to kill you here. You still have the potential to grow even stronger, so why would I kill you? What about this. You will sometimes do some work for me, while I will find you, strong enemies, to fight with. You are indeed weaker than me, but you still can be useful. So, what do you think? I know that you have some kind of dragon pride, but you lost to me, so it's only natural for me to have something from you, don't you think so? Anyways, if I will need you, I will contact you. Cya." As he said his goodbyes to Tannin, he disappeared from his spot.
Tannin didn't know what to answer, even when Sukuna left. But then, he suddenly started laughing. He was laughing like never before. He indeed had a lot of pride, but he also lost miserably, so he thought that it wasn't that bad deal. Also, his fight right now motivated him to train himself even harder. He has never thought that one day he would simply meet a seemingly random person, to whom he would lose.
Thanks for reading!~
I was writing this chapter quite hastily, so there might be some mistakes that I didn't notice.
