After all those events, a momentary peace returned to Japan.
Sukuna's faction was growing stably and rapidly. After discussing some of his plans with others, they decided to just expand their already existing base.
It grew a lot in size and now could contain all Curses and Curse Users that joined his faction. They slowly started to build a city, growing forests, changing weather to their liking, and even adding some lakes.
Some Curse Users left after the raid, but there weren't many of those. Many of them remained, as they thought that it would be much safer and easier to announce their own names to the rest of the world. It was also because that most of them previously just wanted to destroy Sorcerer Families, and now that they accomplished their main goal, they were a bit lost in their life, so they just decided to stay here and watch how it turns out.
As Sukuna's faction was growing, they needed resources and more information about the rest of the world. This time, Curse Users really helped out. Over years, they made a lot of contacts with different beings in the Supernatural World to achieve whatever goals they had, so now they could use them.
For now, Sukuna dismissed all his own plans about his "perfect" death. He had to establish a whole new faction. For him it wasn't hard, it just took a lot of time. He also has Tamamo, who was courting lady of Emperor of Japan, so she knows a lot about leading the crowd, laws, and politics as a whole.
All in all, a new powerful faction was raising from the depths of the world, and when it announces its arrival to the world, it would surely shake all supernatural beings.
...
The rest of the world was looking closely at Japan at the moment. Devils saw that it became really active recently. They were also informed that a huge amount of souls came to purgatory in one single night. If those were normal human souls, then they wouldn't really care. But this time, all of those souls were not ordinary humans, and they died in hundred of thousands.
Fallen angels were also looking closely, but they weren't making any moves right now, waiting patiently. Heaven didn't have much influence in Japan, so they thought that it might be their chance, thus they were the most interested in it at the moment.
Greek gods didn't even glance at that news and returned to their own business. Some individuals from the Hindu pantheon were interested in Japan but soon lost interest as well.
Shinto pantheon, Yokai's, and Five Principal Clans still thought about what they should do. It seems that Sukuna's faction doesn't make any moves yet, but they can't be really sure. If they would let them grow like that and let them gather resources and information, then it could prove to be dangerous in the future.
They thought if they should threaten them, but this idea was quickly dismissed. They have at least somewhat idea what kind of person Sukuna is, and by their understanding, he wouldn't be so easy to play with. He also has proven his strength against armies of humans, and elite groups of sorcerers and Youkai's that were sent after him in the past.
The best idea they came to was to make a binding pact. It didn't necessarily have to be a friendly pact. For now, they just make sure that both sides won't attack each other. But it was also a problematic one, as they didn't know if they could even make a pact with them.
They could try to push it on them, but it was too risky. For all they knew, Sukuna's side would react to their provocation, and then war would break out. They were sure that they would win, but at what cost?
For now, they decided to just wait for few years, and watch how things turn out. They wouldn't just simply wait though, as it may prove to be fatal. If another side was gathering strength, so will they.
Like that, five years quickly passed by. The Devils lost interest in Japan 4 years ago, as nothing was happening. There was actually a really tense atmosphere, but they were ignorant about that, and it's not like they were informed of a situation as a whole.
Heaven still thought if they should try to expand their religion in Japan as well, but they decided to postpone it for now. Unlike Devils, they actually sensed factions there weren't in their best form right now, and they for sure didn't want to get cross-fired.
Sukuna's faction grew like never before. For them, five years of peace was enough to gather the required resources and finish their very own place to live.
The small underground base that was before now grew into something entirely different. It actually could be called a whole underground kingdom. They had one big city that acted as the capital and that's where Sukuna resides. They also built few towns but didn't overdo them, as they still didn't have that many people.
Sukuna, Tamamo, and few others Curse Users that had a high standing in clans before, made laws. Sukuna was a king and as such had the highest authority in the kingdom. Tamamo also had some control over the kingdom, usually assisting Sukuna.
It also was decided that the kingdom will be now called the Cursed Kingdom. They thought that this name is quite fitting, as most of the kingdom's population consists of Cursed Spirits and Curse Users. It also isn't too fancy and it is straightly saying what kind of policy they had there.
As of right now, Sukuna sits with Tamamo on the cliff, watching the beautiful sunset. She asked if he wants to come with her, and he thought that he had no plans for today. He now thinks about other Japanese factions. For the last five years, they haven't made any direct moves on them. They tried to search for them but still couldn't find them. Actually, it is so much easier for him right now.
He can send some spies to Kyoto and get at least some information on what they are scheming. As for them, they can't really send any spy, as they don't even know where his kingdom resides. All in all, they are concerned about their own safety, because his kingdom suddenly appeared. Also, it seems like they also acknowledged his strength, thus not making any drastic moves, as it would lead to massive casualties on their side.
Sukuna is still surprised though. As far as he knew, gods are like devils– arrogant. And now that some old fools didn't make any move, was a bit surprising. Though thanks to them, he got more time to establish a good foundation for his kingdom, and now, if something happens, he is more than ready for every move that they might take.
Even though they were busy those five years, he and Tamamo didn't slack off the training. His strength is growing really slowly, but it still grows nevertheless, while Tamamo's strength is growing at a normal rate. While she is nowhere near Sukuna, she is still really strong. She wasn't a really strong goddess back then, but in her prime, she was still stronger than she is now.
But it is understandable. At some point, she relinquished all her divinity and memories to be reborn as a human. Even though it didn't go as she planned, she was still reborn. She got back some of her divinity and memories, but not all of them. Because of that, at the moment, she is weaker than she was before relinquishing her divinity. But with such constant training, she should reach her prime, and even pass it in near future.
They also called back someday their familiars, who were in Dragon Mountains for the last nine years. They grew significantly stronger. Abeloth was now 20 metres long, and 5 metres high. He still had those pitch-black scales, but now they had some purple mixed in them. His silver horns grew by a large margin and were now resembling a crown, while his amethysts-like eyes were shining with power.
Adalina also grew longer, reaching 23 metres in length. A tiny snow-white scales were all over her body, while a majestic shining golden pattern was adorning her scales. Sharp golden nails were shining on the top of her limbs and wings. She also had shining golden topaz-like eyes, that held a lot of power in them, rivaling that of an Abeloth. Her pure white majestic horns also grew longer.
"Hey, Sukuna." Tamamo suddenly called him, bringing him out of his thoughts. He looked at the right, where she was sitting, and asked: "What?"
"Why do you always think so much? Others may not notice, but I know that you are always thinking about something– making plans for the future or present, making some calculations, and so on. So... I just wanted to ask, why do you always think so hard?" She couldn't hide her curiosity. She knows that when he is seemingly focused on something, he actually doesn't care about that, and just thinks about various topics.
"Hmm? No particular reason. I just like to think. It is just a hundred times better than doing something like paperwork. Also, I don't like when I can't control something, or outright destroy it. Making plans for the future is a crucial point of survival, so I just... think. I also tend to imagine various scenarios, so that I could predict enemy moves... Anyways, it is just my habit from before, when I obliterated my clan, nothing out of extraordinary. Why bother asking though?" He asked Tamamo in return. It is actually not in his style to talk about such things to someone and for so long, but considering how much time he spent with her, it is only natural.
Sukuna knows that he hasn't cared about anyone in his life. His father was a scum, who thought that his son is a disgrace. He never saw his own mother, but he didn't care about her either. All people that he knew from the clan, were always looking down on him or glancing at him with pity evident in their eyes. Even if it hurts him to admit, he cares about Tamamo, at least to some extent. Of course, he would always prioritize his own survival, rather than someone else. He also wouldn't run away from the fight, even if it would cost him a life, because he has his own pride, and if this pride would be shattered by mere fear of death, then he is no better than those bats that hide in the Underworld.
All in all, he wouldn't throw away his life for Tamamo so easily, but if there is a chance to save her and survive afterward, he would gladly do so. In the past, he would save her just because she was useful for him, and nothing else. Now that the situation had changed, he thought about something he heard somewhere. If he remembers clearly it was called something like friendship?
'How amusing. I would never think I would be this close to someone, to actually care about their life. Even if she is annoying, she is still better than all those weaklings combined altogether.' He thought to himself.
"No.. nothing, I was just a bit curious." She then turned her head towards the sun again, watching how it slowly goes beyond the horizon. After watching it for some time, she said as if remembering something: "By the way... It seems like Japanese factions finally made their move. They sent a message to us. They just gave it to some Curse User while he was outside. They wanted to make a meeting with us, and finally, make all things clear." Her smile grew a little bit when she said that. It seems like something interesting is going to happen once again. If Sukuna will attend this meeting, then she won't be bored for sure.
"Hoooh?~ It seems like they lost their patience. Hahaha... Finally, the game begins." A grin grew on his lips, as he already started calculating his new plans.
(A/N: Huh~... Done. Anyways, I hope you like this kind of setting. I knew from the start that I was going to write about Sukuna having subordinates, but I didn't think that I would write it like that... I hope you appreciate this kind of setting. Hmm... If you have some ideas, you can certainly write them. Also, this point with Tamamo here. I tried to not change his character a lot, but it still had to be done, so he could get closer to someone. You can also consider it only to be natural, as in Jujutsu Kaisen he was like what... 2000 years old? And here he is barely 30. He is still ruthless Sukuna that we all know, but he certainly has attached to Tamamo, to some extent, at the moment. Also, should I make a discord server? It would make speaking with my readers much easier than it is now, and also you could possibly change the way story goes ;) (even if not by a lot).)
Thanks for reading!~
