I had grown from a meager 4'5 to 5'0 in 5 years but I've still yet to hit puberty I'm gon be a big boi, while Marcus went from 4'7 to 5'1. He says I have short person syndrome when I cussed him out the other day, but I then reminded him that I was 6'1 in my previous life which isn't short at all thank you very much.

I have developed a bit more muscle but I still look like a buff 10 year old. I don't look like a roman sculpture yet. While on the other hand Marcus looks more like a buff 12 year old with his height advantage on me, fucking dick.

Over the years we have slowly improved our strength in our particular powers. I can now lift objects, my shadow moving like a tentacle, I can also make solid dark constructs, they are weaker than steel, more like bronze. My powers can form into any cold weapon, and one day when I get more control on my powers I might be able to make hot weapons such as guns.

The night was an annoying type of gloomy while we sat next to our communal window, it was a downpour outside but I had a bad feeling, we had our own room now connected to the church part of the orphanage, now that Miss Maria thought we were emissaries of god.

Marcus was doing his pushups and we discovered our bodies weren't the same as in the training area where we could do 1000 pushups in there we could only do about 60 out here, pretty good for 10 year olds but now that I think about it, pretty realistic I mean we would need insane amounts of strength to do 1000 pushups.

The ground starts to rumble as we hear a low buzz that slowly rises in frequency until we hear a deafening explosion and feel a wave of orange energy pass through our bodies.

Akemi: WAIT nobody move, did you get the same message I did?

Marcus: If you mean about the dark matter yeah.

We did this because reconstitute could mean any amount of things from turning the energy to credits to giving us the power to wield dark matter, expelling is a waste, and we know what'll happen if the energy integrates with us, FREE POWAH.

Akemi: Ok but we need specifics, system, please show us each a detailed description of our powers good sir or madam.

Dark wisps of energy consume my hand as small trails of energy slither up my arm and into the air. As a ball about the size of a baseball appears in my hand.

I pitched the ball of dark energy towards my brother at about 80 miles an hour, where in the distance of a room no normal man would be able to dodge it but almost the instant the ball left his hand Marcus moved the top of his body to get out of the way, think about how in a stadium there's at least 50 feet between the pitcher and the batter in this room there's less than 10 feet between us, completely supernatural.

Akemi: Shiiiiit, that's cool.

Marcus: I didn't try to move I did it on instinct kinda like when you're in a high stakes game in any type of sports really but I felt incredible adrenaline for half a second. Probably why I can only use it a few times a day if I use it any more than that I might have a stroke.

Akemi: Anyway my turn.

Marcus: Uhhh Miss Maria's paddle that thing has been personal with our asses more times than I can count.

Akemi: Y'know that might actually work, we might find something out about Maria's future.

Akemi held this mantra in his head as he walked to Miss Maria's office to get the paddle.

When I opened the door to the office I had no fear as Maria was out on personal leave after what occurred but the scene I saw wasn't one I predicted.

A shadowy humanoid mass slowly walked across the back wall and then seemed to turn to me and say " You're just a kid, stay out of adult matters and do what kids do, I don't know, play with blocks. Anyway stay off our fucking trail."

The shadowy mass then dissolved into black smoke and disappeared.

The sheer amount of scenarios that went through my mind was unreal. I went from demons to metas to God trying to fuck with me.

Alright cool still we got a problem, that thing, whatever it is knows where we live meaning that everyone we know is in danger. Miss Maria may have paddled us a few more times than necessary, but it was all in an effort to make us better because 'Catholicism' or something but it was from a place of love and she cared which is more than anybody else is this ass backwards world with flying men and 'normal' humans like batman being able to master 127 different martial arts without superpowers (no bullshit look it up) no normal human should be able to store that much info, of course we could one, with my godlike adaptability and two, Marcus' unlimited memory.

Anyway back on topic we've got to get stronger because to the people of this universe like Superman or Darkseid we are nothing but ants to crush under their colorfully themed boots.

I get an idea and like any video game character I use my special sight to try to figure out shit in the room.

My eyes turn a brighter shade of green until they start glowing and my usually white sclera turn black as the corners of my eyes seep out with an energy similarly looking to a dark gas.

As I look around the room and lift up some things and I eventually find the paddle as well as an obscure looking item hidden under some papers, without my empowered vision it could be looked over as a weird ass paper weight but this thing glowed with a dark red energy, this thing being a small stone sculpture barely larger than a softball of Medusa's decapitated head. Yeah definitely not ominous or foreboding, but definitely going in the inventory.

Akemi: MARCUS! CHECK THE INVENTORY!

I have a weird gut feeling there's something else in here of interest I just have to look harder.

POV CHANGE: Marcus

Marcus: ON IT!

I open the inventory and god this thing is fucking creepy who the hell keeps a sculpture of Medusa's head in their office.

Then it hit me nobody would do that except for nerds collecting shit, but Maria isn't that type so let's see what I can find.

EYES... okay demoonniicc this thing glows a blood red tint in my vision, we got problems, someone is fucking with miss Maria, our beloved miss Maria.

Alright there's gotta be some type of inspect skill for this shit, it's a system there ain't no way in hell that this doesn't have inspect.

So trying the first thing that comes to mind I just stare at it super fucking hard almost to the point where I give myself a hernia and something actually happens.

He seems to touch the object and his head flips back and his eyes going back there too.

Akemi POV:

Faint images.... a fold up table.

.. grass... weird sculptures... wait is this a flea market????... oh there's the package.... and a car.... then back here... damn it she is just weird.

Marcus: So Jackshit?

Akemi: Yup

Marcus: Nothing, damn

After I say this I hold the Medusa sculpture in the palm of my hand, I then condense energy in my palm as my palm glows blindingly I feel the weight of the Medusa head slowly go away as the stone is vaporized in condensed light.

I go back to the room to see if there's anything else.

Marcus: WE HAVE IDENTIFY NOW. AND ITS UPGRADEABLE SO ARGH BUT YAY.

So as expected I started using it on everything but as thought, it just gives me super not useful information like materials such as leather or paper.

So still coming up short and we're still at square one now I kinda just want to go out and find trouble.

Going outside seemingly to look at the sun for 30 minutes I see an incredible amount of green spores floating through the air almost in clouds of the stuff. The stuff is microscopic and I'm kinda worried to breathe this stuff in but my body would probably adapt anyway.

About a block away hear booms and crushing sounds soon after I feel small shock waves.

I look up and see what I think is a rock? Oh shit not a rock something much worse a asteroid OUT OF THE WAY!!!

Diving to the side my initial wave of confusion subsides and I see two or three... orks FROM 40K!?!?

Akemi: Marcus!!!! We are so undoubtedly absolutely and utterly fucked!!!!!
