Out of the Closet

"Mmmmmm."

"I want them all to know you're mine."

"We can't tell anyone. Not yet Draco."

"Harry..." Draco moaned kissing Harry fervently.

"Draco we can't! Ron would hate us, and I don't know if Hermione would, and I don't even know if their homophobic!" Harry gasped as Draco's lips rerouted to his neck.

"Please..." Draco begged. "I can't stand Cho and Fintch Fletchley looking at you like your fresh meat anymore!" He whimpered pulling Harry's collar back far enough to give him a hickey.

"Oh." Harry breathed. Draco was amazing. He cared about him so much and he knew that all Draco wanted was for him to be proud of their relationship. He was though! He just needed to figure out if Hermione and Ron were ok with homosexuality.

"Please Harry." Draco whispered against the skin under Harry's ear. A shuddered immobilized his whole body, taking his will to fight. He tried to hold out.

"Can't."

"Why?" Draco's lips were insistent against Harry's neck and collar bone.

"Cause I don't want to be disowned by my friend because of you malfoy!." Harry choked. "Draco!" He tried to correct himself. He hadn't called Draco by his last name in months. He could see the pain etched into ever feature of the blonde boys face.

"Ok Harry. I get it. They matter." He whispered quietly, disentangling from Harry. He checked the window of the class and quickly gathered his things to leave.

"Wait Draco please." Harry gasped reaching for his arm.

"What Harry? You just said your friends matter more then our relationship, and used my last name. What do you have to say?" He asked looking deep into Harry's emerald eyes.

"I-I didn't mean it. I mean I care about my friends, but you mean to world to me. I-Draco-don't leave." He gasped. Draco breathed a quiet laugh, the sound bitter and fake, sadness replaced the gesture. Without another word ,Draco opened the door and walked out, tears pooling in his eyes. Harry sunk to the ground, pulling his knees to his chest. He chastised himself again and again. Was he going to lose Draco? Harry knew Draco was sensitive in relationships, after all, he never had a relationship where people weren't using or abusing him. His father beat him, his mother watched, his last relationship had actually just been a prank. they all knew he was broken. After the horrid wartime they had been through, Draco had come out cracked. He often went to Professor Snape to talk about it, about the beating, about what Voldemort did to him. It had taken months just for Draco to believe Harry wasn't messing with him.

Tears poured from Harry's eyes. He began to sob. Draco probably thought he was using him. Or at least trying to hurt him. The pain on Draco's face had been easy to see, even thought Draco had tried to mask it.

"Harry?!" Came a sharp gasp. Harry lifted his head slowly, his face red, eyes puffy. Hermione stared back at him with terrified eyes.

"What's wrong!?" She asked quickly helping him to his feet.

They sat in the common room sipping hot chocolate by the blazing fire. Harry was swaddled in a blanket, a chocolate mustache across his lips. He sniffled staring into the fire.

"I really screwed up." He whispered quietly to the flames.

"What'd you do mate?" Ron asked mouthful of biscuits.

"For Pete's sake Ronald! Do you ever stop eating. Your friend is in pain." Hermione hissed punching his arm.

"Darling I'm a man I'm starving." Ron said with a laugh. She made a point to ignore him turning back to Harry.

"How did you mess up Harry?" She asked gently.

"I'm dating someone." He said quietly. After the initial gasp from Hermione and choking on a biscuit from Ron, he continued. "And I refused to tell anyone, and I think it hurt their feelings really bad. And I don't want to lose them." Hermione and Ron didn't even notice his lack of feminine pronouns.

"Well if you hurt her feelings apologize mate." Said Ron quietly.

"That's a start. Perhaps a nice gesture to this person. To show her you care." Hermione said sipping her chocolate with elegance and precision.

"What if it isn't a-" Harry started. He immediately dropped his question horrified at what he was about to ask. "Can I ask you guys a different question?" He asked. They both nodded.

Harry sat up clutching his coffee. "Well I uh. I know this person that's in the closet y'know. And they don't wan anyone to know. And I want to tell them to just say it, but their worried about what their friends with think.

"Is this Luna your talking about? She came out weeks ago Harry! We don't mind at all about her feelings towards other women. And we wouldn't mind if Fred liked men or Neville liked both." She said firmly. Harry paled.

"It's true mate. I don't mind the gay stuff. I used to think it was wrong but Luna taught me bout all of it and honestly, I think it's kinda cool." Ron said slurping his coco.

"Well in that case... I uh. I may be, dating. Draco? And have been for a few months."

Ron lost his hot chocolate coughing and gasping for air.

"HARRY!" Hermione hissed. "How could you not tell us?" She was angry because he didn't tell her, not because he was gay. He breathed a sigh of relief. Then began to panic. He had to make it up to Draco. He had to keep his boyfriend. Had to make him believe he cared for him.

The heat of the great hall wafted around the students as they piled their plates with food.

Harry pondered how to make it up to Draco, thinking long and hard about his options. He snapped his fingers hopping up on his lunch table and hollering to get the attention of the students.

"OI!" He yelled pulling his collar back to show the pink-purple mark. "SEE THIS?! THIS IS A HICKEY. A HICKEY DRACO MALFOY GAVE TO ME! IM HIS HES MINE NO ONE ELSE GETS TO TOUCH HIM." Harry screamed to the quiet room. He promptly smacked back down in his seat, smiling and piling his plate with food. He didn't see behind him, where Draco Malfoy was smiling warmly as the back of Harry's head.

"Nice stunt Potter. I didn't know you were gay." Oliver said walking down the hall.

"Damn, dating Malfoy potter? How'd we miss it?" Came Fred and George's voices. Harry had been getting little comments like that all day. Some were rude or homophobic, but most of them were sweet and congratulating.

"Yeah. Can't imagine dating Malfoy." Came a small seductive voice from behind Harry.

Harry swiveled to meet the person, only to find Draco in front of him, hair disheveled and mused, his clothes were ragged and messy. He looked divine. Like an angel.

"Uh-" Harry raised his hand trying to come up with a rebuttal.

Draco grabbed his hand with a grin, pulling him down the long hallway filled with staring first years. It was then that Harry realized he had nothing to be ashamed of. Anyone who didn't like him for who he was wasn't someone worth hanging out with. He loved Draco and didn't care if anyone decided it was wrong. He smiled, allowing himself to be tugged along the lanky hall, a warm feeling filling his chest. This was only the beginning.
