“Where are you? Why is it so dark? Did you fall asleep?”
Sevir rolled his eyes, but the enormous eye on the crystal couldn’t see him. To help, Sevir lit up his hand. The familiar warmth made him smile, casting a glow over him. The single eye in the orb widened.
“What… How did this happen?” RuIng voice echoed around Sevir, who glared, still smiling.
“Quieter.” Sevir hurried to tone down the other side.
RuIng moved away from the crystal such that Sevir could see half his face now, nodding furiously. Sevir responded to his earlier question. “I got stuck in the school basement. The lights are out.”
RuIng rolled his eyes now, “don’t you lie to me. What happened to your head? Who did you fight?”
Sevir smiled. “I will take care of it.”
RuIng narrowed his eyes. “I wanted to apologise today, but now I don’t want to. How many times have I told you? Do not be a hero.”
