A Need

After Goten, Trunks, and Piccolo stare at the new Android 13 for a moment, Trunks grows impatient, powers up his Ki and charges at the large foe.

"Trunks, wait!" Goten yells.

"I'm not afraid of this guy, I'll end this right now!" Trunks yells.

Trunks lands a punch into Android 13's chest, not even affecting the Android. As Trunks is shocked by this, he looks up and smiles devilishly.

"Oh, no." Trunks says.

The Saiyan is then grabbed by 13 and is driven towards the ground from the sky. Goten quickly flies towards them to save his friend but 13 shoots an energy blast at Goten, knocking him away, and slams Trunks into the ground, taking him out of his Super Saiyan form. Before Trunks can get back to his feet, 13 blasts him away, knocking him into an ice wall.

Piccolo rushes at the Android, landing multiple strikes that don't even make 13 blink. After a few more strikes, the Android fires a blast into his body, sending him flying through a block of ice.

Goten then powers up and rushes in next. He starts to land punches and kicks, but his attacks doesn't have any affect either.

"Damnit! He's not even blinking. What can I do?"

At that moment 13 lands a punch to his stomach, knocking the Super Saiyan out of him. He then grabs him by the face and slams him through the ground and to the lower level of the icy floor. As Goten struggles to move, Android 13 jumps down, stomping on his chest. Trunks is then woken up by his bestfriends screams of pain.

"Go-ten..." Trunks says.

13 hits Goten with a large energy blast, destroying pieces of his shirt, sending him flying. While he's in the air, he gets punched in the gut, kneed in the back, and kicked in the face, knocking him to the ground. Goten forces himself to move through the pain, struggling to his feet with the last bit of energy he has. 13 then laughs at the beaten up Saiyan.

"What's the matter, boy? I thought you were going to avenge your masters death. You're almost as pathetic as he was." 13 says.

This angers Goten but before he can even try to do anything, he gets hit with an energy blast that knocks him back to the ground. Goten slowly forces himself to get up again, defiant just like his father.

"You should know, I'm not going to stop here. I'll find that brother of yours and kill him as well. Then your mother, and that arrogant fool, Vegeta, but I'll save him for last. Make him watch as I kill his wife and daughter."

Goten glares at the Android, trying his best make his body move foward, but he is knocked back down again by another energy blast.

"What's with that look? You should be thanking me. You'll be reunited with your father in the next life. My only regret is that I wasn't the one who sent him to hell in the first place." 13 says.

Goten forces himself to get back up one more time. 13 then charges up an even larger Ki blasts and fires it, causing a large explosion that sends Goten flying into the ice cold waters. Lazuli and 17 watches on in regret.

"Goten... No." Lazuli says.

She then gets angry and stands to her feet.

"17. Let's go."

17 looks at her sister for a moment then nods.

While Android 13 laughs maniacally, a ki blast is fired into his back. He turns around and sees Trunks back to his feet, with a scowl on his face.

"Alright you Android freak. Let's try this again!"

He flies straight at the Android, landing multiple punches to his face and a knee to his gut, but he still doesn't have any affect on the monster. 13 then grabs him and squeezes the life out of him, causing him to scream out in pain, then raises him up in the air and slams him back first into his knee. While Trunks is on the ground unconscious, the Android charges another blast, aiming it at his face.

Before he can fire, Piccolo appears behind him, grabbing him and lifting him up in the air and causing the blast to go up into the sky. 13 then elbows Piccolo in the face, then smashes him in the chest, knocking him to the ground, and stomps on his face. At that moment, two twin Ki blasts are fired at 13 who easily deflects them, then seeing Lazuli and 17.

"You can't be serious. After all of this, you still haven't realized how pointless it is to stand against the brilliant Dr. Gero's will. Why deny what you are? Why resist what you were created for?" 13 asks.

Both 17 and Lazuli smile.

"Because we choose to." They both said.

13 scowls at them.

"Then die!" 13 yells, running full speed at them.

17 and Lazuli charge in at him at the same time. 13 takes down 17 with a punch, grabs him by the arm and slams him into Lazuli. The evil Android then steps on Lazuli's head, causing her to scream in pain.

Meanwhile, Goten is knocked out in the freezing cold water. While unconscious, his mind drifts to a moment between him and his brother.

Goten quickly turns into a Super Saiyan, and continues to power up, trying to reach Super Saiyan two while Gohan watches. Gotens energy starts to rise, but can't seem to break through to the next level beyond Super Saiyan. He then turns back to his base form, dropping to his knee out of breath. The youngest son of Goku punches the ground out of frustration.

"Darn it! I almost had it. I could feel it. How am I suppose to get stronger if I can't reach that second level?" Goten says.

Gohan smiles, kneeling down to his brother and putting his hand on his brother's shoulder. He then takes off his glasses and looks up towards the night sky.

"You know... Dad told me something when I trained with him as a kid. He said that power comes in a response to a need, not a desire."

Goten looks up at his old brother as Gohan smiles at him.

"Someday, that need will arise for you. Just like it did for me and dad. You just have to be patient." Gohan says.

Goten smiles as the two sit together and watch the stars.

Back to the present, Goten is still under water, hearing Lazuli's screams and clenching his fists.

"Need... I need... I- need!" Goten thinks as yellow aura starts to surround his body.

He then starts to think of all the people he cares about in his life, and starts to remember Krillins lifeless body and Marrons cries, and after remembering 13's threats towards Gohan and Bulla, his eyes finally open wide.

"I NEED TO PROTECT THEM!" He thinks as his hair turns golden yellow.

While 13 grinds his heel against Lazuli's skull with a smile on his face, the ground starts to shake and a big flash of light comes from the ocean, surprising him. He turns around and sees Goten rising from the light, body surrounded by lightning bolts, finally ascending to Super Saiyan two. He then lands across from Android 13 with an intense look on his face. 13 gets annoyed by the sight of Goten.

"You just don't know when to die, do you boy?" 13 says.

"Let's end this already. The sound of your voice is starting to make me sick." Goten replies.

This angers 13, causing him to jump into the air and fires a large scale energy blast that hits Goten head on. When the smoke clears, the giant Android is shocked that Goten is still standing, without a scratch. Android 13 gets even more angry as Goten slowly walks towards him.

"I will kill you!" 13 yells.

He then rushes at Goten and lands a punch to his face. The Android is then surprised again when Goten doesn't take any damage from it. 13 prepares to throw another punch, but Goten quickly lands an uppercut to his chin and a spin kick right to his gut, sending him flying. Before he can fully recover, Goten charges in, landing multiple strikes with great speed.

13 finally gets enough time to throw a counter punch, but Goten easily dodges and punches him in the face, spinning him around. An angry 13 turns back around to face the young Saiyan, but is surprised when he's gone. While he looks around for him, Goten appears behind him and kicks him in the back, sending him flying again. Goten then kicks him in the chin, knocking him up in the air, and then punches him through multiple mountains.

Android 13 slowly gets to his feet, taking damage from this fight.

"How is this possible? He wasn't this strong a few minutes ago."

He then looks over and sees Goten slowly walking towards him yet again. 13 is overcome with anger, frustration, and surprisingly fear. When gets close enough, the Android throws another punch that Goten dodges and lands a punch of his own, putting his hand through his body. 13 slowly stumbles back, clutching the hole in his stomach, staring at Goten. The Android then flies up into the sky and charges up a large energy ball.

"Burn!"

He sends the energy ball while Goten stands in place. The young Saiyan then charges a very familiar attack.

"KA! ME! HA! ME!"

When the energy ball gets closer to the ground, Goten finally fires an enormous Ki blast.

"HA!"

The ki blast clashes with the energy ball, holding it back from hitting the ground. The Kamehameha then rips through the energy ball, and goes straight at Android 13. The evil Android tries to hold back the Ki blast but soon is overcome and destroyed by the blast.

After the dust settles, Goten drops to his base form and falls to the ground, exhausted from the fight. Piccolo walks over to the unconscious boy with a smile.

"Nice job, kid." Piccolo says.
