Chapter five: Mafuba

In my opinion, Tien is the strongest of all the humans in dragon ball if you don't count half Saiyans so it's a no brainer that I would go with his fighting style.

Also, Tien managed to hold back Cell and back him into a corner when he was far weaker than him with his Tri-beam technique and that's something that I want to learn.

"Master Shen the fighting style I want to learn is… the fighting style of a warrior I feel like this style will help me reach new heights faster than being a psychic," I give Master Shen my answer.

Master Shen gave a small smirk before he started speaking. "So you want to reach new heights quickly huh, it just shows that you have a true drive for power and I'm willing to keep feeding that drive as long as you keep completing missions for me, so tomorrow I will teach you something very useful and you will complete an important mission for me."

'A powerful technique and a mission that's important to Master Shen, tomorrow will be very eventful.'

-(The next day)-

'I wonder what technique Master Shen will teach me he did say it would be very useful, after all, I am just a rookie when it comes to Ki so it will probably be something small like flying or maybe enhancing my body with Ki.'

I walk into the training room where Master Shen is there waiting for me to arrive so he could begin teaching me.

"Ketsu, the move I want to teach you is the main attack of the warrior fighting style you chose the Ki blast. It's essentially releasing your Ki in a set shape that is meant to harm the enemy. I'm going to teach you the most basic form of this which is releasing a ball of Ki from your hand which explodes on contact with someone."

'So the move I'm learning is a basic Ki blast, something very simple in the long run but it's really powerful early game and against regular people.'

"Ok Master Shen how should I begin with learning this move."

"Start by forming the ball of Ki like you did last time but try to make it more whole and as you make form it think of it as a weapon," Master Shen guided me.

I start forming the ball of Ki in my hand creating it faster than I did last time due to the fact that I know the way to form it now.

While making the Ki orb I imbue an intent to use it as a weapon and I start visualising Ki blasts from the anime soon I have a full blue orb of Ki in my hand.

"Now try releasing it from your hand by using your Ki to push it away."

I start sending a bit of Ki to my hand to push away the ball of Ki and it leaves my hand and goes about half a meter away before fizzling out.

"Ketsu, for your first attempt this wasn't bad but this isn't a passable Ki blast yet, so you will be practising until this bad attempt of a Ki blast is passable and once you learn this technique, you shall go on this important mission but if you take too long there will be consequences," Master Shen said before leaving the room.

'Learning how to use a Ki blast is a lot harder today thought it would be. However this is one of the most important techniques I will ever learn how to use so I'll carry on and endure,' I think to myself.

This time when I'm forming the ball of Ki I use a lot more Ki than I used before and I attempt to make it a lot more whole and rounded than what I tried before.

I then send a lot of Ki to my hand to send the Ki blast as far as I can and this time it goes about three meters before fizzling out. I look down at my hand and think.

'This is better than my last one but still not good enough I'll probably have to train for a while longer to make it useable.'

It took me a while but, I finally managed to learn how to use a Ki blast albeit a lot faster than I expected, but maybe I am just good at learning how to use Ki.

I walk to Master Shen's office where I knock on the door.

"Ketsu why are you here? You should be practising right now, if you have come to waste my time I will shoot a Ki blast through your shoulder," Master Shen said to me through the door in a raised and agitated voice.

'So he sensed my Ki the second I knocked on the door, I need to learn that skill it might just save my life from a surprise attack someday,'

Ketsu thinks to himself.

"Master Shen I have learned how to use the Ki blast competently and I think I'm ready for the mission you wish for me to take."

I notice Master Shen's eyebrows raise by the slightest amount and a tiny pause in his movement.

'Is Master Shen shocked at my progress? I don't think it's that impressive I mean it took me several tries to do what I did yet Goku and Krillin did a more advanced technique on their first try surely I didn't do that well.'

"Follow me outside and give me a demonstration of your Ki blast Ketsu," Master Shen told me.

We walked outside into the lush green forest and Master Shen pointed at a tree for me to blast.

I gathered the Ki in my hand and went through the process I had just spent hours practicing, I then created the orb I then sent the Ki blast from my palm and it went flying into the tree absolutely decimating the tree and several ones behind it.

"Ketsu, you learned this quickly extremely quickly, a lot faster than I expected so this means you will have more time than I estimated to complete the mission that I have assigned you," Master Shen spoke and even though he looked calm to the average person, I could tell because of earlier in his office and because of the slightest tug on his lips that is never there, that he was surprised.

"Ketsu, before I brief you on this mission and send you to complete this task I will give you one hour to rest and prepare for this mission you might be wondering why you should prepare well this mission will be done solo and it is very important, Do not be late." Master Shen told me.

I walk to my room and I start packing all the most essential things for my solo mission that seems to be very important to master Shen.

I pack food, water, My phone and charger that I stole, a pocket knife and the Senzu bean that I stole from Puar. I then double-check everything and I decide to pack a pen and paper in case anything is interesting enough for me to note down.

I relax for another forty minutes until I have five minutes left before the time Master Shen wanted me back in his office, I decide to head down a few minutes early just to be careful.

I knock on the door of Master Shen's office and he tells me to enter.

"Ketsu, the mission I want you to complete must be done carefully and the goal of the mission can never get out do you understand me."

I nodded to master Shen whilst thinking.

'What mission could possibly be so important even on my last mission I didn't get a warning like this.'

"Good, your mission is to find the inheritance of my dead Master who went by the name Mutaito, and more specifically his technique known as the Mafuba or evil containment wave. If you manage to acquire the technique without his inheritance somehow then that is fine."

"My dead Master Mutaito had a dojo that went by the simple name Mutaito training Academy it was located on an island not too far away from penguin village. That is all the information I can give you Ketsu you best not disappoint me or else," Master Shen's unsaid threat being extremely obvious.

I leave Master Shen's office and get in one of the cars we have at the base and start cursing the world.

'There is only one reason I could think of on why Master Shen wants the Mafuba and that's revenge on Goku, Tien, Chiaotzu and Roshi and if he succeeds I'm fucked but they outclass him so much at this point that he would fail and die and I would be left without a teacher which is very bad so hopefully he is planning for the far future.'

'But also how the hell am I meant to track down Mutaito's inheritance when he's been dead for ages and how the hell am I meant to get the Mafuba when the only living users are Roshi and Kami but I know for sure that neither of them would train me if they find out that I'm Shen's student.'

'I mean Roshi won't know if I don't tell him but I don't know how I'd weasel the mafuba out of him or I suppose I could search that Island that's not far from penguin village but I don't even know where penguin village is. This is an important decision because Master Shen could kill me or maim me if I fail and I can't decide.

Option A: Try and find out where penguin village is and search for what's left of Mutaito's Dojo.

Option B: Try to weasel your way into Kame house and learn the Mafuba from Roshi.

Mental trait: Overwhelming strength defeats all.

Ketsu believes that while tricks like telekinesis are useful in the face of overwhelming strength they will always lose.
